| Darren Shaw was a nice fellow but he was not a good coach.
I remember coming back from a game at Featherstone getting home and posting on here ' "Has he gone yet". Everyone knew what I mean't. Reading that old newspaper clip it was PR who said he wanted us to play like Stains.
The team played one man Rugby in Darrens' day. I know I watched all our games when he was head coach.

| And the good news is that's all now history.......
We've had good decisions made, bad decisions made and good & bad luck but its in the past.
We now have what on the face of it looks like a decent looking future with some little things being done well by the current BOM / BOD who are starting to re-engage people in the town and surrounding areas and interact well with our support base (old & new).
For now that's a very good start.

Ste we all know the hard work the Rowleys have put into our club , those who don't like them are entitled to their opinions , my opinion is the Rowleys have done a very good job for a few years now ,I have known Allan since Pennington juniors ,over 50 years , and to me he has done a very good job at Leigh , his Match Host work is excellent ,and for me he does a very good job , Pauls record speaks for itself , a very Fine young man , a good player , and a good coach , who will lead Leigh on their Journey to Success , the Rowleys are doing a Good Job ,Charlie knows .

| In relation to Darren Shaw, people forget that SCL had gone t**s up less than 12 months after Derek Beaumont and Steve Blakely quit the board. We had a day of mass resignations and we did not have a club or any players.
Arthur Thomas then came in and literally pulled SCL out the quagmire. Darren Shaw was given 4 weeks before the start of the season to build a team on a shoe string after all the other clubs had finalised their player recruitment. One of his successes was to bring through the likes of Adam Higson and Ian Mort.
He did remarkably well on a pittance and given the circumstances he found the club in IMO. Lets not forget Paul Rowley was head coach when we we should of been relegated to Championship 1 by finishing second from bottom. Only Gatehead folding saved us from that scenario. Shaw avoided that fate by winning enough gams to stay in this league on merit.
So are people saying Rowley is a bad coach as a result of that relegation situation now? Of course not.
Some people are very harsh.

| Ups and downs Harold old luv. They come and go. In Pauls defence, did he not take over the team from someone else so thats a bit harsh and he was thrown in at the deep end. I have never really been a coach knocker unless they have done the dirty on us and having been away most of Darens time here I couldn't comment on the type of rugby we were playing. I was there though on that day when we got promotion to SL and if that is the only thing he ever did for this club he will do for me.

| THe other thing about Darens time at Leigh and the recruitment. He was stuffed by the RFL over the players that Leigh were in for but were guzumpt by London Broncos, knowing they were going into administratiuon and taken over. They never had a points reduction and the contracts that had been signed should have been null and void.

| Facts and assumption are two very different things, I know which I prefer, and always try and deal in.
You could have actually argued that the coach did say that as Rowley was later appointed coach and Shaw as manager but of course that happened both after the LISA meeting where Darren was alleged to have said what you wrote, and the quote in the Reporter that you reffered to, missed a trick there ehh

No. You never EVER tell a customer their money is not wanted. The customer is always right....even when they are wrong! Alienating just one customer is unforgivable. It has a knock on effect long term to your business and word soon gets around about what type of company you are like to deal with. If one of my salespeople did that they would be picking their P45 up from my office.

| The only time a customer is wrong though is when he/she bases their opinions on falsehoods and twisted truths. You can try and cotrect them by showing them the actual facts, if they still refuse to listen what do you do then to part them from their money?

| Paul Rowley is an excellent young coach. He's honest and professional and quietly improving his skills. He's Leigh through and through.
He took the coaching role over halfway through a season and it was only because Donlan's fair try was ruled out at Gateshead that we finished in the relegation spot that season.
Allan Rowley is Leigh through and through and he is an excellent speaker and host at the sponsor and visitors match reception.

The Watcher thinks you do not finish in a relegation spot because one try was disallowed, we were terrible for most of that season.

| Which just goes to show that sacking a coach part way through a season is never a good thing (Kelly to Rowley) as in the modern game with salary caps, players contract etc.. the team the new guy inherits is never his own.
Anyway all water under the bridge a new regime is now in charge so either support them or dont but dont dredge up the past just to try and score a few dirty little points on people who mostly were not in charge then, it is childish and non productive in the extreme.

If they still refuse to listen you appreciate their point of view and ask them what resolution they would like to see. Negotiate a resolution that both parties are happy with and move on. Arrange a meeting after the dust has settled usually in an environment that the customer is comfortable with, ie the golf club, their favourite restaurant , the boardroom at the LSV, whatever floats their boat and re-build the customer/supplier relationships. This tends to make the relationship between customer and supplier stronger. In my experience true long term friendships tend to develop which benefit your business. I have seen this happen first hand, this complete customer focus i have see first hand. i know this has contributed to a business growing from a turnover of £9.5million in 1997 to £32million in 2012.

No problem with any of that. Ideally, I would see the 'personal touch' being essential, if you have the manpower to achieve that. I'm pretty sure that's Rob Parker's approach to wooing new/old customers to sponsorship.
The problem could come when the 'customer' insists you do something that isn't readily achievable, to satisfy them.
