I have already said, only one of our tries should have stood, any of the fev fans posting on here who've watched it again will know that duffy passed the ball whilst stood on the line, whilst gardner caught it whilst stood behind it, tho only way it could have been forward was if gardners arms are 3.5M long.

I thought briscoes try was forward TBH though, and i also thought dickens had a little fumble with the egg before he picked it up. In short, owt that could go wrong did, we played unintelligently at the ruck and fev were ruthless with their opportunities. Would i be confident of beating fev on a flat pitch at the halliwell jones just 6-7 miles from leigh? We knew what we were getting with stokes, and i've said it before, playing the ref is just as important as playing your opponents, fev always do it well, dickens, kain, finn always having a little chat. We haven't had that sort of nouse since rowley was playing!

Lets celebrate a top class display - pity it didn't last 80 mins, but with 2 tries allowed and a fair penalty count, it coulda done. (Parker and Hoppy would have made a difference as these Yorkshire packs are full of "thugs".)
Here's a thought: Riddy for England Knights??? Classiest player on field by miles. Kain usually plays well against us, but rubbish last night. Most of the top 6s are overseas anyway - Hohaia,Finch, Green,Rangi and even Briers is supposedly Welsh.

Lets ask some opinions then:

1) Littler interception: Offside?

Not a chance it was offside. If I remember correctly, this one was potentially a -12 turnaround. We could have scored 6, instead Fev got the ball back on our line and scored 6.

2) Disallowed try: Obstruction?

More difficult, but in my opinion the defender was not going to be even close to affecting play.

3) Disallowed try: forward pass?

Not in a million years. Not from any angle did it look forward.


Take a try away from Fev and add another 2 or 3 tries for Leigh and this game looks very different.

So lets forget all the niggly stuff we were done for, and lets just look at those 3 key decisions that went against Leigh. Is there anyone out there who can genuinely say that no.1 and no.3 were the right decisions?

All 3 should have been tries.The officiating was totally abysmal.would prefer not to hear or see stokey & smithy again,ruining the game in my opinion.

Hope he never steps foot into our ground again ! incompetent to say the least ,SL could be getting a mighty fine ref if he goes full time

fev were e last nite in the first half but we upped our game in the second and ran out worthy winners, we only needed a good 40 mins to get the job done


if fev want to win the grand final then were gonna have to produce the goods for the full 80 and im sure if we do nobody will touch us


leigh played well last nite but they set off like a house on fire and the forwards were knackered by half time, fevs fitness and forwards took over in the second half and the leigh lads were out on their feet and could'nt stop the momentum.

I did think the 2 tries disallowed where ok and might have made the difference, but we would never know if you would have won.Seemed like Fev had the advantage going down the slope though, and if your team are good enough and resilent you will make the final.But i could not believe Nobby was defending that late tackle from Henderson.It was a shocking arm that took his head off, and it did make me laugh though, as he flew in like a steam train.

Thanks for those. They are good quality highlights and further underline everything the Leythers and many neutrals have both said and alluded to. The pass was a beauty from Riddy. The officials were just not having us win on the night for some reason. Extremely disappointing( maybe an understatement ), but not entirely surprising these days in RL. The sport is sadly becoming more and more pathetic by the day.

Seems the commentator going of his commentary thought there was nothing wrong with both Leighs' disallowed tries.



Henderson's tackle was clearly an attempt at a ball steal he just got the timing wrong.



Shame the loose ball Littler picked up when in the clear isn't featured.

It was a shocker BUT IMO it was just missed timed and trying to get the Fev player to drop the ball.......it was a bad hit though.

Re the obstruction

The video ref Smith clearly said that the Leigh player had stepped across into his path, which was complete bow locks. He planted a foot down as the Fev player was about to run into him, in no way could you say that he stepped across.

The Fev player played for it.

The Leigh Man has a right to run his line, and in no way did he deviate to block the Fev player. The Fev player was appealling the second he touched him because he knew he made the wrong read.

Let it be though. We need a win on Thursday. I watched the game on my laptop and was encouraged by the determination of the lads, and the way we cut Fev up at times.

PO road is a shocking ground to play on, and we cannot play with the elements at all.

On a wide open pitch on the HJ, Fev are there for the taking.

I really do fear Sheffield again though !

Agree with Snowy.........Fev are very beatable on a wide flat pitch, they know how to play their pitch to perfection and good luck to em.
I watched the 1st half last night and didnt see Powell speak to the ref in the tunnel at HT so dont know if they show`d owt later on yet. Littler was never offside with the interception and as Snowy said the obstruction was a joke for McNallys disallowed try (watched about 10mins of 2nd half also).

Just for info Jay, Fev's pitch is the maximum width allowed by the RFL. Well it was until we were asked to reduce the width by 0.62m to comply with regulations!

No issues with the Width Robin. I was referring to that bloody slope ! I have not got good memories of PO road as it finished me off nearly 20 years ago. That slope IS an 18 point slope and Fev will use it uphill and downhill to perfection. You need a bloody gas mask playing up it ! Nice club house though !

I wouldn't blame playing at Fev. We are a much better team away from home over the past few years.

FWIW I do think some of the calls were harsh on Leigh.. Over the 80 Fev were the best team, but only by one score.

just watched the game in full and used the pause button to great effect.
The try that was disallowed for obstruction should have stood, played it back several times and can't see an issue.
The forward pass was forward but the camera angle might not have helped and in SL it would have been allowed to stand probably
Henderson wasn't going to dislodge the ball he was clearly going for the head and should get a hefty ban.
The stamp on our player was also deliberate and should be looked at in addition to our players who are on report.
Overall a niggly game but both teams can point to incidents that went against them. I think the standard of referees needs serious attention. Perhaps when the Bulls find their feet they should pay the RFL back and the money can be invested in the officials.
I really hope you can get to the final as it was a good atmosphere and you have built a decent team this season in difficult circumstances. Oh and finally Littler crossing his arms asking the referee to put a player on report is like a footballer waving an imaginary yellow or red card at a referee,not something we want to see in our game. Having a word with a ref is one thing but that isn't what rugby players should do
