The whole charade has been flawed since day one and it just got/goes worse year in and year out, by the time all the clubs who chase the golden fleece realise it's starangled the game as a whole it will be too late, as a sport we had a glorious chance to be a major force but missed the boat because of the greed of various boards of directors (both past and present).
They started the whole farce based on a system that was flawed and have made sure by their greed and ego's that it can't get any better.

There is apparently a levy but what it will work out is that Fax will not make any money I just hope for their and all other Championship clubs they do not lose any.

Leigh have tabled this as an agenda item at the next RFL meeting. (Council?) I can see that the RFL is desperately trying to reveive interest in the Challenge Cup - although you have to ask why interest needs to be created in the Game's so called 'flagship' competition. Unfortunately, they have added yet another nail in the coffin of Championship clubs.

I'm sure that, in recent years, when we drew Warrington at home, Wolves' s/t holders got in half price and Warrington made up the difference in the gate. That gate was then, rightly, split 50/50. Surely, the likes of 'Fax and Leigh (and most other Championship clubs in this draw, come to think of it!) do not have to share the gate, when their supporters have contributed nearly all of it?

So when we have it against Amateur's it's fine but when SL have it against us it's a disgrace?

No it isn't fine , but what they have done isn't the answer , funnily enough this is one of those ' club or sport ' conundrums again , all those ' sport ' fans should be quite happy to pay to watch any RL match , but they don't , in fact they don't even want to watch their club play against lower league opposition

Well given that the Toulouse match is not a big draw , well be lucky to draw more than we would playing Dewsbury in the NRC , if it was a heartland SL club , we might have got 3,000 from Leigh , as it is we won't make more than 2,000 IMO , so takings of 20 K less 3/4 grand to the LSV , then if we have to pay Toulouses travel costs , well have about £ 3,000 to split with them

I know I'm just a fan but Leigh making a profit on this fixture wasn't something I really looked for when it was drawn, it was the fact its a cup match against a better team from a higher division, a chance to see how the team I support goes on and to see if maybe (just maybe) we can sneak a shock result.
Now thats not to say that AT has the same view ( I'd be surprised if he did), but as a fan the cup is about getting a bigger team and seeing how we go against them.

Having said all that, if Leigh can somehow sell this game (and it shouldn't be really hard - there is some SL quality in that team) then we could get our biggest gate of the season , if we can't sell this fixture to a RL town then we really need to sit back and think just how long the club can carry on.
Personally I'm hoping for a good game and a decent crowd, I'm glad we are playing Catalan rather than a Oldham or a Widnes or a Swinton (with due respect), its a club we've never played before and at the moment in time our team is on fire, I'm not saying lets not be concerned at the financial plight of our club but perhaps for once as fans we should just enjoy this game back the lads and hope we get more positives than negatives out of it.
You never know we might get London Skolars in the next round, now that would be a shock

well said that man - personally I would pay the entrance money just to watch Menzies play ! Trent Robinson is really getting the best out of him. Catalans are entertaining and you Leythers should turn out to watch the likes of Menzies,Greenshields,Farrar,Dureau,Hendo,Fakir,Ferriol & the like - if you're lucky you'll get to see Pelissier who is a class act waiting to be snapped up by one of the big boys IMO...

and what exactly have leigh done in this franchise period then? besides finishing in a relegation spot.

i know it was probably best to say nothing. but i just came for a friendly and curious look on the leigh board and stumble upon bile like that. after a couple of years of aggressive, nasty and generally misinformed, hypocritical balls directed at my club and the widnes board in particular, these attitudes are wearing a bit thin.

firstly he actually is retired due to injury. so i think your man should have more respect for a great servant of the game. and that didnt answer my question, which was rhetorical anyway.
widnes bashing is one thing, we get more than our fair share and are used more or less to the ill informed often nonesensical hate that gets thrown our way. but statements like the one that set me off are bang out of order.

When he played ( put a shirt on ) for us he was pretty poor , that is how we will remember him , I've no doubt there are Widnes fans with similar opinions of players that have gained hero worship at other clubs , but been absolutely gash for the Vikings

Unfortunately the bitter and twisted gene has spread rapidly. It's not the worst board with some good debating people, but the fact there are 4/5 threads a wekk moaning about franchisng and also every other simialr topic on every other board ends up with the same constant moaning it does get boring.

I know we all take the 'hard done bye attitude' us arguabbly more than most at the time but Leythers seem to take every RFL call even a cup draw FFS as a personal insult and arguablly a desperate crave for attention!

It's posts like this that make a few glad they wont be visiting Leigh again for a good while.

The RFL make the rules and we've followed them and are now in the best position for promotion. You lot have done naff all for years now, its not Widnes fault.

As for us progressing , not much chance of that , in 8 days time you lot step aboard the last lifeboat on the Titanic , well just keep moving the deck chairs until we go under , wakeys lifeboat has a bloody big hole in it and they're sticking anything they can get their hands on into it , they will fail , and join us in the cold dark waters of the Championships ad infinitum

Why do you continuously doubt yourself? what's to stop Leigh winning a final this year or next and then progressing with steady crowds of over 2,000. You already tick most of them magical boxes.

You don't know that it will be a closed door Starbug, your only guessing. Never give up hope and continue to fight, as much as Tipster Ste has annoyed me with his garbage post ill still come on here and continue to fight for the championship as much as i can. In fact ill be campaigning for the Lobby Gobblers to come up next time.
