Quite probably because that game was only ever likely to go one way, so the Saints fans were happy to sit back and watch the tries roll in. I occasionally attend Saints games, and their language could be deemed far, far worse than anything heard at a Leigh game. That said, they're only words and if people are scared about their kids hearing it then they should either a) explain to them why they're being used or that it's "wrong", or b) buy some earmuffs.

If a few naughty words are the worst thing that happened then I'd consider that a bit of a result for Gateshead. Their accountants certainly will.

Would be interesting to know if any stewards have filed any negative reports or made any complaints about the conduct of the Leigh supporters.

A very cheap and very low PR stunt by the Gateshead Board aimed at one of their franchise rivals next time round.

We should all put a complaint in about the officals and also the Gateshead fullbacks gesture at the end of the game, wonder whether anyone caught it on camara.

Dont think the flute song was sung,was it.May be i had gone to the bar or the loo, but cant remember it being sung.Anyway thats my 1st and last visit to the Gatehead, they wont be getting another penny of my hard earned money

What really riles me about this is to pretend if a young kid hears an Anglo Saxon word at a sporting event it will scar him/her for life and make him/her grow up into a bad human being.Real life isn,t like that and we all know it isn,t.

The majority of everyones fans swear in different circumstances at different times. I find the singing of Mariah Carey excruciating for example but if they played one of her songs at the LSV I wouldn,t be that mithered.

And what really gets up my nose is this holier than thou hypocritical tripe I have read from the Gateshead 5 today.

Just tell me one person who,s life has been ruined by a few swear words at a sporting event.Let one of the parents of one of those kids come on here or any other site and tell us that one of their kids has suffered from pyschological problems following yesterdays game.

This has been blown out of all proportion by a few morons who think they are special.They are not special they are pathetic.

frank, RL is supposed to be a family sport. We want to encourage families to our club. Why do we as fans or the club have to accept trends where swearing in unison is ok because everyone else seems to do it. A big crowd of fans chanting these words, and singing about IRA (remember there are people that don't relate RL/Leigh with IRA) can be intimidating.
I swear at games, as it is difficult not to sometimes in the heat of the moment. But proudly chanting f*ck by 100's is totally different and to me cringe worthy.
Lets reframe ourselves more and act more responsibily to get our club a good name, instead of joining in with it.

I don,t know if you went Paul but if you did you would know that the Gateshead 5 are really over egging the pudding. For what it,s worth I rarely use bad language in the company of the opposite sex or children. At the match yesterday if you believed the rubbish being posted by those ridiculous self important special people I think you would have a point. In addition they are implying that 400 Leythers where as drunk as skunks. These reports are way over the top. I didn,t see any Leyther staggering because of drink apart from Roman Officer

There where no reports of bad behaviour at the Service stations the fans stopped at going or coming back.

I already said that Gateshead are being over the top on this. But we don't help ourselves sometimes, and my post is basically about the common theme on this thread that swearing is something people should get used to. I don't. Lets buck the trend and be known as a family club. Getting the families to watch us is vital.

Honestly can't believe some of the stuff that's been wrote on here. Myself and Mrs. Optimist had a great day yesterday and as such would like to thank all concerned.
As for the supposed bad behaviour? We saw or heard nothing that we would not expect to hear at any other rugby league ground. In our opinion the Leigh supporters where fantastic and contributed towards a terrific atmosphere.
Me and Mrs.Optimist are big fans of rugby league and most other sports for that matter, as such we like to visit many events. However should we remain in the same division for next season you can rest assured that we will not be spending our money at Gateshead.

It's God help Gateshead when they get in SL and have to put up with certain supporters in that league! They will have something to complain about.

God help the Thunder fans if they can bother their ar5e and go and support the CCup Final this weekend when 20K Wire fans start singing banky banky banky banky Warrington or words to that effect
