| Quote ="Greg Florimos Boots"Make no bones, this is the worst Leigh team we have seen for at least 3 or 4 seasons. Reminds me a bit of the team Fax put together after our relegation full of players who had done decent at SL but in no way could handle how tough it actually is at this level. Theres a massive soft underbelly in your pack and until that is sorted you will always struggle against a decent team.'"
Agreed, we were awful when we beat London Broncos 40-0 in April. Haven't been to a game since.
I agree with your comment about our forwards though, overall, too lightweight in my opinion.

| Quote ="Bigtimeleigh"I don’t understand all this negativity after yesterday’s game. Especially towards Ben and drew, they have improve so dramatically as a half back pairing since the tripe the whole team was showing at the start of the season. I can recall a few key kicks from Ben yesterday that were crucial and great under pressure and how many times in recent weeks have we seen drew take on the line and play a key pass into a forward to break through and score, not to mention they never fail in defence. I also can’t understand the hype around summat (controversial on here I know....) I’ve seen him play twice now and he’s been no more than average on either occasion, I wouldn’t swap drew or Ben for anyone (within reason). As for us supposedly having a poor attack.... we scored 36 points yesterday with some great tries. And great play from drew for at least two of those tries that I can recall. We can all agree we where well below par yesterday but we got the job done and scored a more than healthy number of points in the process. When our attack clicks and we complete high we seem to be able to score at will and have done for more than a number of weeks!
The defence has taken a slight wobble but I’m confident that will be resolved.
This team for me has the potential to be better than last years for me, just needs a few tweaks and maybe a bit more grunt in the forwards=#FF0000 for me acton seems to have lost a little go forward and bailey I don’t think is up to standard, out standout performers are mason and J Thompson, very consistent, and based on yesterday’s performance gregson deserves another shot. But our back line for me when fully available is quality and there’s no denying that.
Massive game next week against tolouse with little rest. Win that and I believe we’ll get the top 4..... loose and we need to beat tonroto in the garden shed!! Keep the faith, we know the lads can match SL sides if we make the 8s!!!'"
To be fair,Acton's not used to playing so many games.

| Quote ="reffy"That is a massive rose tinted specs post, I would take issue with’ never fail in defence’ , the defence didn’t have a slight wobble, it is a mess. I agree with your assessments of Acton and Bailey, neither are currently up to what is required of them. I would have Sammut in a flash.'"
Apologies, to clarify I mean Ben and drew never let us down in defence. Not that I think so anyway. They always both seem solid to me. You feel as though summat is more of a leader than either? Is that that this big hype around him?

They lack a leader at 6 and 7. That one player who can dictate a game. The one that marshall's them all over the park. Its not just a case of taking the line on, it's knowing the reason for taking the line on, they fail at.'"
I agree there is still cons but I don’t we could replace either with better ATM, and do you not think in time they can be what we need? Despite for me doing a good job now?

| I’m with big time on this, Sammut is very maverick, yeah he does some very good things in attack but there all for he’s self, he is a good player at this level but gets found out against the SL teams, stick with these too for now. Daley cherry Evans is looking for a way out of Manley.. he said he wants back too the Gold Coast I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a few months on the golden sands of Pennington flash

To be honest, you said you had only seen Sammut play twice. I don't think you can make a judgement on just two games. He can kick any team all over the park, and kicked us all over the park many a time. On form he is unplayable.
Thats the difference as both Reynolds and Hutchison cannot step up to that level, their play is predictable, therefore playable. Their partnership is just too, two dimensional.
Will they improve? You have to look at the facts as Sunday showed, they are stuck in their ways.

Well Hutchison was first choice NRL 7 until his injury - so it’s pretty clear he has the ability to step up to a far better standard than Champ rugby don’t you think
Jury out on the levels Reynolds can reach but he’s deffo improved this season

They wont turn into Sammut, Ford, etc... But as we've seen, their play will improve if the players around them perform better. We're not going to sign a new half back this month, so we need some front rowers to step up to give them the sort of platform they need.

Yes and junior kangaroo. Having the ability and actually doing the job are two different things. Reynolds with the expericence he's gained at both levels should be ripping this league up now.

No very true they won't turn into them. But the passing at times from both of them is so poor,it makes the forwards look poor. Most are suicide passes stood still.

| Both are great behind a dominant pack, on the front foot both can dictate play but we aren't winning many games in the middle.
When you are winning the ruck in the middle you can play shape and get overlaps like Castleford do so well.
There have to be players out there who need game time.
Warrington-Dom Crosby
Salford-Ryan Lannon
Castleford-Gadwin Springer

| I think criticism of the halves is harsh. As said above the halves need the pack to provide the platform, when they have we have done really well. Look at Drinkwater behind the massive Catalans pack, he looks a world beater, never saw that at Leigh. I know it is not necessarily part of the halves game, but our get through so much work both taking on the line and defending and to be fair Ben's tactical kicking has improved. We need an injection of energy in the middle, Baldwinson was v disappointing - I think Gladwin Springer is a great shout.

Surly though this time last year KR has assured they were going to be in the top 4 and could spend accordinglyc in our position it would be risky to take On a higher wage bracket. Surly it is better to get into the top 4 which this team is more than capable of, then go from there. The only way we could get players now would be if we had the financial backing regardless of Where we finished and Derek has stated the perhaps he can’t afford to back us outside the top 4.

Perhaps..... but if summat was so quality and highly ratdd why did he remain at Workington for 18 months before getting his move, and London’s results on the large against the better champ team said would suggest he struggles against better opposition. Something which after the “settling period” shall we call it, Ben and drew haven’t done really. Even if people think there performance on Sunday was so so bad. Surly drew will continue to go from strength to strength as surly being JR kangaroo captain and getting in the NRL team Of the year is more than having the ability and actually putting it on show?

No, Derek has committed to the cause after the Leeds game. He says he has been re-invigorated by the team and the fans and is back in it for the long haul whether we make the middle 8's or not. He is actively looking for additions for the squad.

No disrespect C&W i really hope this is accurate as i hope you agree we seem to be building a decent team with hard working honest coaching staff and eager quality players that given time will repay the faith they have been given ( at least the majority have)
