| Mixesd reaction from me. I've never been a fan of the SL one. Despite attendances increasing I'd doubt whether 50% of the total attendance has ever been in the stadium at any one game.
New comers tune in and say oh it's rugby league playing in a half empty stadium.
Having said that I'll be there!!

| Great news. Blackpool is the perfect place for it. Right sized stadium in a place people would actually like to go for a weekend.

| They'll drop it after 1 year, never work at Blackpool, some games will have less than 500 watching
Seriously who will hang around for Batley - Dewsbury, or London - Sheffield?
The total fan base for all 12 clubs ( including Bradford ) is around 15,000 , expect a maximum of 50% to attend ,lets be generous and say 9,000 split over 6 matches
Should have taken it to Batley or Dewsbury and filled the place

But neither have any sort of feeling like a big event, which is exactly why the Magic Weekend has been a success in terms of attracting crowds and enjoying it while being there.

Very true Reffy , personally I think the idea and concept will be a great success , despite what Starbug and Alan think , a very good opportunity for a Fans get together , and I for one would attend all the games .
I agree some parts of Blackpool can be very tasteless and tacky , but there are plenty of nice places and things to do , having said that it a Rugby week-end should be great .
Ive never been to Dews or Batley for a week-end , and wouldn't stay over for a BET , not even a Diamond encrusted Clock .

Wasn't seriously supporting Batley or Dewsbury for the occasion - more voicing a personal aversion to Blackpool. (no offence Charlie! ) Anyway, it's always rained (or snowed!) when I've been to Blackpool - with the exception of the Arriva Trains final against HKR, and their massed hordes.

The success of the SL magic weekend is partly down to all the venues so far have had close proximity to pubs/bars, food outlets
In Cardiff being a city centre stadium ,and Murryfield and the Etihad having open area's just outside allowing fans to take breather between games and re enter the stadium
Fans in Blackpool will leave the stadium area and head for the town centre as soon as their games are over IMO
Also the numbers just dont stack up, Championship attendances are currently just over 10% of SL averages , even if you double the equivalent percentages you still only get less than 10,000 over 2 days split over 6 games
What Blackpool does have is excellent corporate for club management and sponsors, not forgetting the RFL prawn sandwich brigade

I have visited all of the stadiums (stadia) you mention but apart from Cardiff' Murrayfield and the Etihad are a similar distance for pub and food outlets as Bloomfield Rd. There is a pub very close to the Etihad but it is much more expensive than a Blackpool pub.
Look at NRC best attendances' they were both at Blackpool.
Some don't like Blackpool cos they don't like fish & chips and Bingo but for most Blackpool is great for a couple of days provided of course it does not snow or pour down.
I will probably attend although I prefer Benidorm

Think most Rugby fans would like to watch The Heavy Woollen Derby, that’s usually is a good game. I doubt Batley or Dewsbury have the facilities needed to host 3 games in one day, not to mention how small time The Championship will look playing in such small stadiums. Some games might have poor attendances but allot of people will stick around, look at the success of the Championship Finals day, 3 games on one day (2 of which are from lower divisions than these games). People have been complaining for years (me included) that The Championship doesn't get a chance to show itself properly, well this is that chance. Sure it could be a disaster but it could be a huge success, depends on how the fixtures are done & how its marketed but we'll see.
Quote ="THECherry&Whites" Really? People actually like to go for a weekend!'"
More likely to stop over in Blackpool than some of the places mentioned, Batley and Dewsbury for two!

| I think it will be well attended as most clubs involved will have little opportunity for the fans to have a good day out as most have not been to finals or similar occassions and a match at Blackpool will be a real event to look forward too.

| Blackpool can offer everyone what they want in every way , I always say "You only get what you pay for ", and this is very true , I NEVER stay in Blackpool well not in the Centre , or in Guest Houses , the Carolis love Ribby Hall , at Wrea Green just outside Blackpool , it is very relaxing , has accommodation for most pockets , we like the 3 bedroom Bungalows overlooking the Lake , but I have stayed at the Spa Hotel there a bit pricey but perfect for a Romantic Week-end Charlie knows .
I have also stayed at the De Vere Complex , near Stanley Park , and for reasonable prices can recommend the Big Blue Hotel on the Pleasure Beach , the Suites are very big and well priced , the Restaurant very good , but a good deal is the Grosvenor Casino in the Sandcastle Building the food in the Restaurant there is First Class , and cheaper priced than most Pub food as the gamblers Subsidise the price .
You can of course pay around £15- £25 for a room in some guest houses , I remember where Salfordlad and Charlie Jnr stayed once , it had a choice of food ,"Eat it or don't Eat it " , as I say it depends on what you want to pay .Charlie knows .

Frank at the Etihad they have the area outside the stadium but inside the complex that provides the bars and entertainment, when the Challenge Cup final was held at Murrayfield the park area outside had beer tents and various other stalls and such, I assumed when they had the magic weekend there they would do the same
I just dont see that provision available at Blackpool

Bad idea that will blow back in the RFLs face but who will spin it as a success.

| Well I make this prediction.
Should our team perform next season as they have done this we will take about 3k to Blackpool.
Oh and Charlie there is nothing wrong with the overwhelming number of Yorkshire grounds.
