Me our Ol and some of his mates tried to get the " Forward " thing going but we just got a few laughs. Our Ol and his two mates stood to sing " Oh Leigh" but got no takers. There was a good vibe in there todayeven when we were struggling. I really, really love match day.

A few was joining in with an "oh Leigh" in the second half and a "der der" (really need a name for that one!), most enjoyable atmosphere in the West Stand since the Swinton game, for me (was in the North vs Leeds).

Where you sat near the back near John Kear ? think we where sat behind on top row and we joined in the singing, always do but feel we have to shut up after a couple of lines when no-one else bothers


Don't Know how the Batley player stayed on the field after nearly decapitating Parker ! yet 10 mins for professional foul.

Yes that was us.

Thought we could and should have been more clinical in the first 20 minutes however after that we slowed right down (Or Batley slowed the game down) and Batley looked the more likely to score resulting in them going in at half time ahead.
2nd half I thought we upped the tempo again and played well as a team and thoroughly deserved the win.
Aside from the fact its nice to beat Batley in a cup game it's also great to win against a well drilled and organised side, our coaching team and the players deserve huge credit for the way they are playing.
M.O.M for me was Littler, a fantastic performance for the full 80 and took some pretty rough shots - a huge player for Leigh.
Don't think anyone let us down today though, bit worried with two kicks being left to bounce by McNally but in fairness the kicks did land some way off so perhaps it was better to leave but maybe the bounce will one day go against us, however 'that' 2nd half try was just pure class and took the pressure off - a class act in the making.
Couldn't argue with the Batley sinbinning as it was clearly 10mins and in fairness the Ref could have done more (IMO) as he did seem to blow for insignificant things yet let others go - the head shot on Parker on first viewing looked the worst I have seen for a number of years and if Rob had gone down (as many players do these days) making it look like he was seriously injured (which again IMO he was lucky not be seriously injured) the Batley lad may have been looking at a very lengthy time on the side lines, that said I like the rough stuff in RL as thats whats makes it stand out as a sport and you only have to see how it gets both sets of fans pumped up the more intense it got.
Clearly Rob Parker has been well taught on ball retention as I noticed when he jumped back up after being 'floored' by the tackle he still had the ball in his hand as he went quickly to find the Batley player who hit him and 'ask' him why he had nearly taken his block off



All in all though a good game and even the sun came out

, couldn't get much better.
Its been a good season thus far and things are building nicely with regular announcements of players re-signing for next season and positives coming out of the club - our club is heading in the right direction on and off the pitch

I've seen worse that get ignored.....it was harsh.

Both Smith and Childs were there today to watch our ref. I thought apart from the blatant offsides from both teams he had a very good game. He was not biased for either team. Having said that Henderson took two high shots within seconds of each other and the latter hit him square on the boat right in front of the ref. Personally I don't mind a ref who likes it rough. Joke.

Happened directly in front of me and certainly on first viewing it looked a certain sin binning as it was clear the Batley players was scrambling like mad to get back and was struggling to get numbers back for the next play the ball if it had happened quickly.
Be one to look for on Freds dvd but certainly on 'first viewing' I'd agree with the in goal touch judge and ref - either way I'm not sure it made much difference as did we actually get a try when they had 12 men or did we wait until they went back up to 13


The clock was bust in the West Stand so had no idea what time it all happened

MOM for me should have gone to either Littler or Gardner - called Stu for it part way through 2nd half....as someone said earlier he was a machine today - but Gardner matched him, and had just edged it by the end for the 'nads to see the job through.....what with the bandage down over one eye, and limping as he was, he was only short of a parrot to be a dead-ringer for Long John Silver!!





I can only assume that Kes had his name pulled out in the sponsors raffle, 'cos he was pretty quiet today!!

Absolutely loved the final try.....one in the eye for all those (Leythers included!!) who do 'the walk'!!

Good call , forgot to mention that - a cracking effort to score like that after the hooter had sounded- a brilliant way to complete a victory

Kear was wrong, Brown clearly jumps from INSIDE the field of play, catches the ball and lands in the touch in goal area, drop out was the right call, also the so called pro foul on Potts? do people mean the one that happened 2 minutes before the game ended when batley still had no chance of winning? Black clearly doesn't clear the ruck after the tackle and a quick play the ball COULD have resulted in a try for Leigh again correct call from The officials, I questioned the 40/20 from Riddy in the first half that the ref didn't give to Leigh but on watching the DVD Riddy's foot was on the line, which if my memory is correct is deemed to be OVER therefore a correct call from the officials.
Hirst made a deliberate attack to the head in fact his feet left the ground when he made contact.

Thought Batley were a tough set with dangerous halves, with a gameplan to slow down the game when defending and speed things up when attacking - they got away with this for 60 mins of the 80.
Thought not selecting Nicho was a mistake, we needed to get pace on the game and Brierley is a FB not a 7 mom McNally/Littler for me.
Ref, although allowing the slow ptb, got most calls right, Brown was in front of us and clearely took off in play to catch the ball in goal, Black did brilliantly well to save the try but knew what he was doing and deserved the SB, although it looked like we had to remind the ref to do it.
The attack to Parkers head looked a shocker live, and if Parker had simply fallen down he would have got a red imo, but didn't the same lad do the same to Gardner a few minutes earlier?
Another win but we need to turn position into points earlier when we play Fev if we want to win.

Another good win well done to the lads and also Paul Rowley and the background team, we’re getting a good habit of not letting teams score in the second half which says to me the coaching staff are doing a great job at half time.

For me MoM was Gardner.

Thought the Sin binning was harsh, you’d get away with that in most games.

once again a disjointed first half, followed by much improved 2nd, who the hell selected brierley as mom, i'm partially sighted, but who ever picked it must have worse eyes than me, i hope duffy is back soon, i have called for ryan to start, but i like to admit when i am wrong, and he should revert to the bench and make the impact he has done all year. for me gardner was massive for us, and that was with a smack to head and leg, but all in all a good win, but we tough games coming up, fev home and away and batley again we have to start better in games, cant afford to play well for just 40 mins.

I don’t actually think we have played badly in the first halves, I think we have battled hard against good teams, re-organised well at half time and that plus our fitness seems to eventually wear the opposition out and we get the result.

Why doesn't Riddy stake one step back - against Sheffield he did a 40/20 but the video ref quite rightly ruled it out as he had a toe on the line. Not too long after he made another attempt (didn't make touch on that occassion) but his foot was on the line again.

I would not argue with the positive impact Gardener and Littler had on the match but for me anyone who selects a M.O.M award really needs to take a closer look at Steve Maden.

This guy was immense all afternoon and relieved a helluva lot of pressure from the forwards on numerous occasions. In fact given his final try of the game in which Maden started 90 yards from his own line, clinched it for him as my personal M.O.M.

On a seperate issue with regards to the referee, I thought we were unlucky not to be awarded an '8 pointer' when Littler scored. After touching down, Littler's first job was to re-attach his head that had almost been knocked clean off during the act of scoring.

Ryan has commented on Twitter that he was " embarrassed " to get MOM ,said there were 16 lads before him

Fully agree Steve Maden has been great all year and long may his excellent form continue.
Regards Matt Gardner, what a good centre he`s proved to be.Was n`t impressed when he played against us last season but I`ll but that down to being surrounded by a crap coach and players.He`s proved to be more than a useful replacement for Mick Nanyn.

Maden use to aggravate me to hell giving away daft penalties, often when he had the ball

, but this last couple of years he’s cut that out and become a top player for us, like yesterday always high up on my ‘he had a good game list’.

And I thought he had suffered a terrible injury when he screamed out in agony in the tackle in the 2nd half.

Outstanding all year, only lost his temper against swinton were he threw a combo and landed some sweet punches

I have to the atmosphere was great yesterday boy what a difference a few hundred people more make to the experience. Gardner was immense for us again & was the man of the match IMO this guy's a beast. Betts should of kept him for at least their opening SL season as squad player but WTF does he know

I was so pleased with Mado getting his try which is deserving with how much work he gets through he's like having an extra forward on the field. 2010 & prior I thought Madden was biz but 2011 & on he's solid & consistent he's the Tommy Goulden of wingers
