Maybe not but surely if you didn't you wouldn't expect as big a turn out because people would expect you to turn Fev Lions over very easily.
I just think it's a bit rough to ask people to pay £14 for a friendly against a "watered" down Wigan side. The same applies really if people know it's not a 1st team squad from Wigan they wont turn up unless they are "die hards".
Money's tight guys and and people want to see the best if they're paying the top price. I'd prefer to keep the £14 in my pocket and go to the Oldham game if it's not a decent Wigan side if I'm honest.

What he said. I go to watch my team, not the opposition. If anything, it will do us a favour if the Pies send the ressies next week because we won't learn much from another hiding like today.

| Each to their own... but I aint paying £14 to see an SL academy side, I'd rather we'd have played a team from our own league if Wigan aren't going to treat the fixture with some respect.

| I dont know what people expected from Leigh today we where playing against a team full of international players with several World class players among them..
Has a first hit out against one of the countrys top teams we did ok Ian Millward and the lads will have learned hell of a lot from today much more than if we had played a Championship side our shortcomings where evident in the first half on our right flank we really need a class centre so Alstead can go into his best position wing
our kickin game will improve Ridyard should be at 6 with Paul or Duffy at 7 forwardwise Hill, Jock Mc and all the other forwards tried their best to stem the powerful surges from the International Forwards Wires had out , second half was much improved Higson Mcgraff L
Mort ,Stanton, Alstead n Paul all played some good rugby which will stand us in good stead in the coming season I enjoyed watching the game it shows our Lads how they will have to improve their game if they want to win owt this coming season, personally i think Ian Millward and the Centurions Club are on the right track and with a couple more experienced players being brought in, in key postions we will do well this season, the guys looked to be fitter and played some good rl at times today so in my opinion dont panic we are on the right track

But that Super League academy side (yet to see anything that suggests it will be anything worse than a mixture of youngsters and first team players, by the way) is comparable to a lot of sides in our league, so does that mean people won't turn out for Championship games as well?

| For a first game I though the play was much better than last season considering we were aginst SL oposition. Personally I am looking forward to the new season. We will get better now we have a coach and I don't think we will be in the same position as least year.

| Was talking to a muncher reserve player last Wednesday when picking up my lad from school..... he said that they are going to play about 6/7 first teamers and the rest will be made up from fringe/reserve team.
Only player he said was def playing is Deacon.
As for today.... we looked better when Ridyard moved to 6 and Jock was at 9. Hartley IMO should be a centre with Nanyn, Robbie was very good BUT Hill was outstanding as usual and M.O.M by a long way.
As been stated - how big are the Wire players.... Higham as bulked up beyond belief, think they will push top 4 this season.

| We did -38-18, that was a mixed side that Wire put out that day from memory.
There were 15 internationals out there for Warrington today. Like all Warrington sides they will be entertaining this season, they'll score a good number of points but they'll concede too. I still think they are potentially top 6 SL though.
We took defeats like that in SL with FT players so there was no way it was a disgrace.
I think it will be interesting to see the type of side Wigan will put out but I think we are generally heading in the right direction although squad depth is a bit light.

| another game likr that you need. Hitouts like that prepare you for more than thr NRC.
If you could play to that intensity all year you'd be sorted.
But you wont.

| Glad to see most Leigh fans seem to have taken a realistic view of what happened today. I would have liked to keep them to under 60, but at the end of the day its a friendly and it does not really matter. They put out a strong team and seemed to have played pretty well.
We know our weaknesses and they were exploited better than (hopefully) they will be all season in the Champ. This was our first game and as long as we see some signs of life (which we clearly have based on reports), we will be fine. We have to remember where we are starting from - a very low position.
What is more disappointing is the support from Leigh "fans", just over 2000 of them if Wire brought 1500 - especially when you consider its our first game under IM and so much optimism for the future. Of course those who stayed away predicting a snotting will be saying they were proved right. I feel a bit sorry for club management right now - they have done their bit, the folk of Leigh are not doing theirs - yet.

| We have waited patiently for our first game. I suspect many went along looking forward to the new era with excitement. If they were like me all, that anticipation and excitement got sucked out within the first five minutes, 5 penalties against and 18-0 later. It did start to return after the much improved 2nd half though. Regardless of the strength of the Wire team, we still have a long way to go.

| Some typical comments on here some of them do not surprise me others just wind me up.
3600 is not a bad crowd considering the time of year, people skint after Christmas and the fact that we charged full price,I can remember loads of friendlies at Hilton Park with 1500 or less on.
Warrington played a full strength team who were 18 up during which we had one set and dropped the ball during it.At least 3 other tries came from the bounce of the ball running their way,on another day they would not of scored and the final score would of not looked as bad. They are worlds apart from Leigh at present and to judge any Leigh player against them is mad.
Someone mentioned Parking, have they ever been to the Reebok, it takes 30-45 minutes to get off their, and you pay a £5 for that as well.I think the stewarding on the car park is Ok and If we do get a full stadium it will be as with every other ground in the World first come first served.
To the I'm not spending £14 to watch Wigan Reserves fine but don't then moan when we don't sign anyone, because some people put a lot more than £14 into the club .
We will not face a better team this year and definately not a tougher team, there were some big hard lads out there today and I thought the lads did not flinch once and thats a good sign for the games we will have in the Championship this season.

| Some people on here need a reality check! Anyone expecting the game to be competetive, with the side Warrington fielded, were deluding themselves. The main difference between Super League clubs and Championship teams is size! and Wire had size in abundance. Fifteen on their squad are highly paid internationals who are expected to perform to their best every game. The difference in Salaries would be interesting to know? Much of our team was the same as last year so I wasn't expecting a 'miracle' performance! Its easy to blame the Ref, so I will...... what a T@@ser! irrespective of the penalty decisions, how many pionts did Wire accumalate from kicks, with players regathering the ball when in front of the kicker and, forward passes too? It dosn't really matter in the great scheme of things however, it is frustrating to watch.
There were many plusses today though and, the Stadium looked magnificent! I know my Wire friends who visited the Stadium today, for the first time, were hugely impressed. Of course, its the Team and Rugby served up which is of major interest to us fans and, I thought we looked good at times, three of the four newcomers added very little today and, Ridyard and McConnell should be our 6 & 9 respectively. I thought Robbie Paul played extremely well particularly, when paired with Ridyard these two will more than hold their own playing behind what will be a good pack of forwards this season. No one should be dishearted from yesterday's performance as I'm sure better results are to come!

| Summed up quite well there. We made it very easy for them in the first half, yes they were faster and bigger, but without the elementary mistakes and bounces of the ball going with them every time, they probably wouldn't have scored 60...or at least they would have to had to work harder to get to 60. The NRC will give us more of an idea I guess.
