I can see the following happening at the club over the next 18 months.....

RB to become coach/GM.......Rowley as assistant

Next season U18 and U20`s to start up again

RB to become GM only........Rowley to become head coach (in 12-18 months time)

New commercial manager appointed



What people don't realise is that you need all these positions filled to be successful in SL application (as Widnes had to do), the GM and head coach cannot be the same person at SL level I believe....no SL club employs 1 person to do both roles and I believe due to the current money position the club finds themselves in at the mo is behind the joint role that's on offer at present - that will change as I've said after the coming season to be in line for the SL application.

We don't have a choice really if we want to take the step up to the next level.

well on current showing would be happy with rowley in charge of team affairs, i am not being 2 faced, i always said i did not want paul as coach, but he has obviously learnt a hell of a lot from millward, and as previously stated by me happy for him to take the job especially without the added problem of having his father as ceo.

Alan I've no doubt we need a GM so why not properly advertise for one rather than get a coach in through back door

Can't be bothered to read through all the pages, but can anyone post who decided on the squad we have. Seems strange that the new players have been brought in without the new coach advising - if he becomes the coach that is.
Needs sorting whichever way this goes.

At a guess i'd say Rowley and freer have sorted the squad out

Wasn't much of the recruitment list compiled by Millward? I appreciate it may have been before we knew the full extent of the finances though so they might not be too similar.

Not commenting on the rights/wrongs of who should be GM or coach, Ste - just pointing out that we need a GM, in my opinion.

Totally agree Alan so lets go find a respected administrator to be a GM not an unqualified coach

Right lets look at the question from another angle. If Paul was to get the head coaches job who and what else do we need for the current set up to function properly? Are the rest of the current setup happy with Paul being made up to head coach? If the man from down under can't come then I would be over the moon for the current setup to continue but it would be a right pain if they find out that a piece to the jigsaw is missing and no one wants to admit it. Thats when things start to go pear shaped and the person who will be wearing all the tripe will be, yes you've guessed it. Paul Rowley. Does anyone really want this to happen to him because I don't. If there is money to be saved by the man from down under not coming then I would not like it to go on more players straight away but making sure that there is someone in place where the current regime can carry on doing the fantastic job that they have been doing so far.

Paul didnt apply for the job, he told people he didnt want it , it doesnt matter what was agreed a couple of years ago, that management has gone, Paul might well end up with the job ,if he does then great, but the club comes before any one person, and the reputation of the club comes before any one person as well

i was in the legends bar after the wigan game and one of the directors let it slip as paul had got the job,probly be in the paper this week or next!!!

Everything has to get personal on here, no stirring, no conspiracies just a honest belief that we already have the best coach available. But apparently that doesnt make me a fan!!

Incidentally all those who believe we have a verbal agreement with a new coach and we should honour it then I take it we are pursuing all players and previous coaches who have back tracked on deals??
