Chuck Leigh Athletic F.C into the mix my friend. 52 years of football history now on the verge of folding. Throw Leigh Harriers into it if you like.
The whole thing as now become a shambles!
Who is accountable for the administration at the L.S.V because in my opinion they are making a right b***s of it. Leigh Centurions, Leigh East, Leigh Genesis, Leigh Harriers, Leigh Athletic all need to sit round the table and present a united front against these capitalist thieves. Put pride to one side, because if we don't then certain demise is imminent.
To the best of my knowledge Leigh Harriers brought money to the table from the sale of thier Holden Road location, they where promised the world and have received very little.
I was speaking recently to a leading figure at Leigh Harriers who told me this " The old ground was a s**t***e but at least it was our s**t***e " A bit blunt, and i apologise for my language, but this just about sums it up for me. I totally agree with him, when Leigh Athletic played at Holden Road they guaranteed a good crowd due to it's town centre location. As such food and bar takings where healthy. The old playing surface was always maintaned by the football club, and was kept immaculate. The atmosphere was superb considering it's amateur football, but above all the social scene was outstanding.
Now replace this with an out of town location, no bar or food sales, a beach for a playing surface, and the total demise of the social aspect. And all this for leaving Leigh Harriers and therefore Leigh Athletic with extortionate bills to pay for sub standard fascilities.
Unless something is done quickly and i mean quickly then i'm afraid the future looks bleak! I know rugby and football don't mix but i reiterate...Put pride to one side and let's get together round the table.
I'm proud of my association with Leigh Athletic, and i'm proud of the Leigh sporting community, above all i believe in sport for all, not sport for them that can afford it!

We need a shop in the town centre in a good spot...... the old streetwise sports is ideal. Could also relocate the ticket office there - the rent would be cheaper and will make more profit for O`Neills and the club as people dont tend to walk all the way to the LSV shop on a weekday to have a look around the shop. In the town centre would make more sense.

It stinks reallly, I think a PUBLIC MEETING , would be a good idea instead of the LISA meeting this month, hold at the biggest room in town invite LSV management and lets thrash it all out. IMHO if somethings not done quick we are in danger of it being too late.

Absolutely, now's the time to unite. A public meeting with the LSV management is what's required......and soon.

The way they are going there will be nothing left to divide and conquer.

And when they've finished they can have a lovely new (empty) stadium they can be very proud of. After all we don't want to ruin it by actually playing sports there or, god forbid, people going inside to watch do we?

Heaven forbid! How dare you insinuate that men, women, and children can actually go to the L.S.V and actually watch and /or participate in sport!

The old card shop opposite Lloyds TSB would be cheaper rent I imagine, and would still be more than big enough.

Well I am truly shocked at what Im reading here ,

Every single resident of the LSV from Leigh Athleic to Leigh Centurions and their fans have been shafted good style and are being slowly bled dry and forced out , even the Park Inn Hotel is planning to sue the council because the facilities and passing trade that was promised never came to pass .

How do they expect what are really amatuer clubs who suvive on money they generate themselves to pay these outrageous prices when all that was promised never materialised ,

Where's the Multi-plex Cinena and the Bowling Alley ? , Where are all the shops and resteraunts and the the Tesco that was coming and the bus service that was going to provide the passing trade that could have gone for a pint and a bar snack at the Easts or the Harier / Athletic or O'Neil's cub shop , they are charging well over the odds and provided or are giving nothing back .'

I would like to hear Mr Chairmans veiw on this topic ,

We've read Optomist's veiw of things from the Harriers and the footy clubs and we all know that Leigh and the fans got stuffed , but if they could would they go back to their old gound as it was or leave this White Elephant ( and the bills ) that is the LSV behind ? .

I await Mr C's opinion ( so I'll give him a nudge ) ,

Olympic Games in this country in 2012 and kids are being priced out of playing sport .

Id still like to know your opinion on how this affects the financies of the club and are you getting what you thought you signed for from the LSV or would you rather stay at Grasmere St and pay the bills you could manage?

Speaking on behalf of Leigh Athletic F.C..............WE ARE FAR FROM HAPPY!!!!!!!..........IN FACT TOTALLY P****D OFF!!!!!!!!!

For good reasons I suppose, I reckon the developer who paid for (yes, them, not the Council) the vast majority of LSV had to provide the 'community facilites' before they had their day in the sunshine with the other stuff.

I suspect the current economic climate may have delayed that.

So these [icommunity facilites [/ifor the [icommunity partners[/i, paid for in large by a [iprivate developer [/iare then [irun by LSV [/iwho then wallops what turns out to be [icommunity individuals [/ifor a lot more than what they were paying previously.

I run my own business and as such due to the current economic climate i have had to " cut my cloth to suit " not wallop all my customers. If i did this, then it would be the demise of my business. However the L.S.V thinks that this is the way forward.......FOOLS THE BLOODY LOT OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry AD but the clubs in question sold their rights and their soul for a combined total of about £ 3, 000,000 plus to LSV and the dream that came with it and all for nothing

In my opinion the only way to sort this mess out is for all partners to sit round the table with the council and the L.S.V. The meeting should be attended by Andy Burnham.
Leigh Athletic would certainly welcome this.

Mr Chairman that's shocking for you - and all the other partners. I truly hope you manage to get it all sorted - the LSV management should be put against a wall and shot. And where the hell is Andy Burnham - why isn't he demanding they all sit around a table to sort this mess out?

Andy Burnham was invited by Leigh Athletic, via his secretary, to attend a match day. Confirmation was made by his secretary that he would attend.
Guess what? No show.
That's Andys commitment as far as we are concerned.

He may have been pre-occupied with the other thing ............

Meeting required URGENTLY (People are losing jobs so it becomes urgent IMO).

Highest representive of LSV Stadia.
"AN Other" leader of Wigan Council.
A Thomas leader of Leigh Centurions.
Highest possible representitve of Genesis , Harriers , Easts , Hotel , O'neils (apolgys for not knowing each clubs head man/women or if I've missed anything off), Town community groups and other interested partys and press.

Questions to be submitted 14 days in advance , floated on all the clubs websites 7 days in advance along with the agenda - no questions "off the cuff" on the night, meeting duration 3hours (MAX).

A commitment to be signed followed and adhered to that will stop the undoubted demise of the sports village (which was sold as a benefit to ALL the community).

Perhaps early August (1st Friday in the month

Is it so hard to get the above in motion or does no-one give a toss about joing up and forcing a issue, in fact I'm sure LSV arn't "thrilled" about O'neils going and are hearing the fat lady voice getting nearer.

Iam really sorry to here this hope the girls get other employment.
