Leighs shirt in 71 was definately a deeper shade of red than recent shirts regardless of what any replica shirts maybe. I have the Journal & Reporter from that great era and even though they are in black & white you can see the deeper shade of red. I am looking at my new 2011 shirt right now and it is definately a different shade than '71 and i will not be convinced otherwise until someone can prove me wrong. My old shirt from that era is definatley a darker red than the current shirts.
I also remember that the only difference between Leigh & Wi@'Xn shirts was the cuffs - ours where red & the pies where white. (or maybe the other way round?)

I like my cherries black(very ripe) and the Leigh( shirt home) to be cherry and white, which is dark red, Im sure we have had that since 71 several times over. This years is too red imho.
However I usually buy the away top as I dont suit the colour red much.

We know that we played in red/cherry. In a B & W photo you have different shades. A deep red would appear darker than a bright red. Remember snooker in B & W? (& the classic joke) but you could tell the difference between a red ball and a pink one.

have a look at the 71 DVD/tape (which no self respecting Leyther should be without) they play in red & white ive proven my case again so stop clutching at those straws putting a black and white photo up as evidence in a colour 'case' to try and prove red is cherry as it could be blue (one of our old second strips) says it all unfortunately (for you ) .

(see we can all use silly little emoticons daft isn't it) anway it bores me now ive proved Cherry is what a person thinks it is and isn't a definate colour, and if it pleases you to think cherry is red then go on thinking that. And TBH who gives a flying fig anyway.

a black and white photo is no evidence at all, adjust the contrast and the greys can be made as dark or light as you want

depends how you see cherry, i can have a punnet of them and see loads of different shade.
