If the game is the Sunday then it'll be a long weekend if flying from Liverpool.

Hoping for the Saturday night and then a Friday flight to Toulouse and Sunday flight from Carcassonne may be in order.

Hold on a minute. SL clubs get their transport payed by the RFL to the French venues for the Callenge Cup games but the lower leagues don't? There is something very wrong here. I say get the RFL to switch it to a home game for us. Unbelievable.

Cant see the rfl paying out for any team to go anywhere in the CC cup the only reason the rfl pays for clubs to go to france in the league (Championship) is because the clubs were daft enough to vote them in thinking they were getting a free jolly to the South of France and forgetting to put their hearing aids in when the conditions were read out and then they found out it was coming from their miniscule share of the TV money.

Thats the point why I raised the question. How on earth could clubs like Miners and East afford the trip - and what would be the point ? I just can't see how there would be no contribution towards the trip.

They were eventually subsidised by the RFL but only because they threatened to pull out of the tie due to the cost involved, which any amateur club would struggle to find at short notice.

It would appear that before last year when the rfl made a presedence by subsidising Wath Brow they would not have put any money towards it, now they are paying a contribution but no one knows as to how much.

Seems to me it would be the difference in cost of travelling to the farthest away UK based club as opposed to the costs of the trip to France. Simples.

Not even that, Frank - the only costs not covered by the RFL appear to be the cost of hiring a coach to the airport.

The RFL make a large contribution to any club travelling abroad to play in the CC

In summary, we can't fault the RFL in this particular situation (though I believe the RFL are picking the flights and hotels so it might be the 10am from Paris CDG to Carcassonne, with Leigh incurring the cost of getting to Paris!)
