Widnes Home - WIN
Hudds Away - HEAVY DEFEAT
Wigan Home - NARROW WIN
Leeds Home - NARROW DEFEAT
Leigh Away - DEFEAT

Salford have only lost 1 at home this year and appear to be awful away. The prior 4 games to us will give them 2 wins from 4 and a narrow defeat to Leeds. When we beat them it will give a clear indication were this current Leigh squad lies in the SL table.

Salford are the highest ranked team in this draw and will somehow be 4th in SL tonight.

For me the SL is split into 3 in 2015 :-

St Helens
Leeds

Wire

Then the rest....

Personally i think we would finish really high up in the rest pot.

Not really, I appreciate confidence is high after the last 12 months of smashing part-time teams but Super League opposition is a completely different proposition. I would be confident of every Super League team in that draw going to Leigh and winning.

I am sure it is, but this is also a very different Salford team than the one you have seen for 3 decades. It should be a great cup tie, we'll bring plenty over and with the encouraging attendances you have been attracting lately it will be good to see some romance back in the old cup at a stage where typically games are quite boring and mundane.

To be honest Salford should be favourites to win, they're a Super League team with a lot of quality players. However those Salford fans expecting an easy win just because it's against Championship opposition need to realise times have changed; salary cap in The Championship has gone up by an order of magnitude, Leigh are a full time team, many of the advantages SL clubs traditionally had are now severely reduced. This Leigh team is fantastic & performing very well, true against Championship opposition but the skill on show does look a match for Super League.

Salford clear favourites. A Super League side, that could be 4th by the end of the evening. As for poor away form, not many teams will get anything away to Catalans, and putting 40 points on there shows how dangerous they can be in attack.

We just need to compete with them and put in a good performance. I hope all these new fans that have turned up aren't fickle enough to just pack it in if we do lose.

They are awful away from home, any side that is 22-0 up shouldnt draw 40-40. People might think that game was a spectacle i thought it was awful with average tries scored against awful defending.

In all fairness Ste, it seems to be a recurring theme in Super League season. I read a stat of just 8 away wins in 34 Super League games so far this season, with St Helens chalking up 3 of those 8.

It is tougher than it has ever been to win away from home in Super League in 2015.

Yeah i agree John, and i think you will go 4th tonight. However just because we are in the league below dont assume we wouldnt be challenging in the same way. We've played 6 competitive matches in 2015 half of which have been vs FT clubs. So dont get caught up with the 'we only thrash' part time clubs.

Its my belief both Leigh and Bradford will return to SL in 2016.

By the way John you should give Marwan a call because you talk a lot of sense unlike the good doctor himself. His insane tweets following a heavy home defeat vs the best team in the country by a mile probably cost you 1/2k fans then he continues it by his constant public gripes with the stadium management company.

Hes not going to grow his fan base by threatening to quit, publically undermining his coach and lastly slating the stadium.

If he wants to make a star signing he should have signed Mike Latham to run Salford's media empire, saying that he may well have tried as he certainly faniced the coach and the top young player of the year. Marwan would be better off signing RL 'people' and handing his money to them, id stake a large wager you would be much better off now had he done that from day 1!!

I can't wait to see a packed LSV with this latest Leigh side tested by a good Salford side.

Whatever the outcome, the good times are just around the corner again for Leigh. It's obvious the club are heading clearly in the right direction.



All that good stuff aside, I get the feeling that a number of "die hard" Leigh fans, who have been supporting Leigh since rugby league began, have got a bit of an issue with either lapsed fans returning or new fans suddenly now watching the Centurions. I understand your feelings and all credit to you for always standing side-by-side with your club come what may, but your "bitterness" could potentially be damaging to the club, so get over it and welcome anyone and everyone. Leigh Centurions as a club are doing just that, so you should too.

Appreciate that Ste, I would love to assist Marwan with the running of the club as I am sure many others would too. That is one thing I am envious of with regards to those involved of running your club, the likes of Derek Beaumont, Andy Mazey and if I am not mistaken hasn't Maurice been involved too? They are all first and foremost supporters of Leigh Centurions and through their own hardwork and dedication in their personal lives they have been able to become involved in something they love.

Marwan certainly is a marmite type character, I will be forever grateful to him for rescuing our club in the final moments when nobody else would touch us with a bargepole. It is also refreshing to see a RL owner on Twitter, conversing with not just Salford supporters but also fans of other clubs however as you say this has been to the detriment of the club. With regards to the Saints game, we were obviously missing players through injury, we lost players during the game and had a day less preparation with this being a Thursday game. In addition to that, we were playing a really good Saints team that are still unbeaten in Super League and so when all that is considered it certainly was an unrequired over reaction.

We are certainly lacking from knowledgeable RL characters within the club, particularly those who are running it. For all his enthusiasm MK knows little of the sport and our CEO Martin Vickers has absolutely no sporting or RL administrative experience.

I always pay close to attention to Leigh as I have always enjoyed our rivalries (predominantly because we always seem to win) and your form over the last 12 months has been impressive. You ran Leeds close, beat Wigan in pre-season, beat Bradford and have obviously swept aside a full-time Featherstone and London. It will be a great cup contest I have no doubt, see you all on the 16/17/18/19 April

Community clubs shouldnt be beating semi-pro clubs but looked what happened last Saturday at the LSV.

No one else has mentioned the word 'Faggot' except for one on this thread, when it is common knowledge a fag is either a tiresome task, a cigarette, or a public school boys servant, and as people cant read other peoples minds if Hock was charged over that incident I would be quite confident in getting him off on that defence.

Well I've been a season ticket holder since 2001 & think it's great that more people are coming to watch Leigh. Always annoyed me seeing people driving past LSV & Hilton Park & thinking to myself "What could you possibly have better to do on a Sunday? Oh, you're going to traipse round Asda then watch some rubbish on TV, maybe go to the pub & complain about how “there's nothing in Leigh". Sounds great." Plus more fans = more money = better players so all good to me.

I’ve been watching Leigh for almost going on for 50 yrs and have no issue at all with newbie’s or returnees, nor have I seen any adverse comments from anyone else. In fact most of us ‘old guard’ may have different views on several things but one thing we all seem to agree on is its great to see an increase our attendances.

As LS says the more the merrier as far as I’m concerned.

Same here, i want 12,700 fans back for every Leigh Match now on in. Just think of the enjoyable journey we would all be going on with those attendance figures week in week out.

The Watcher thinks that this is a bad draw for our club at this stage of the comp. The Watcher would have relished a good cup run this season but this game may be the end of that hope.

Well if that is right we can concentrate on our main aim which is promotion.

After last season however I go to every game expecting us to win. Think our players do too.
