I will hold my hands up after reading all this and say that I am now caught between a rock and a hard place. I love my team and town and would support them through any problem that is their own, but I can't support a game that is (or will be if Gateshead get super help from the RFL) moraly corrupt and is run by a bunch of dogs. I would sooner pay and watch Sale Sharks than put my well earned into a game that is laughing at every paying fan. I'll say it again, I don't want Gateshead to pack up, but I dont want anymore special treatment for any club in any league. F**k expansion, this is now getting beyond belief. I know some people make longer journeys than me to watch Leigh but it's a four mile round trip to Edgeley Park not sixty as it has been. It's now time for all the heartland clubs to show their hand.

Its disgusting the way things are run,Doncaster got no help plus have'nt they been told its their last chance?and yet here we have the RFL pumping a 100k pa into Gateshead !Rugby league is for the fans not the RFL to do whatever they wish with it regardless ,if it does'nt go well for Gateshead then the RFL should do the decent thing and punish them accordingly.

Can we at least recognise that all clubs in the Championship comp are overspending beyond their means. Some clubs (that chase SL) its just a case of when enough is enough and the one putting the money in stops. Its not like Gateshead are the only ones spending money which is way over what they can afford. At Leigh on the crowds we are on and including LISA - how do we afford to pay for rent, IM, and players etc ? AT is our man, and if he gets fed up with low crowds etc who would blame him in calling it a day?
If true about Gateshead then timing kind of stinks, and if they are in trouble and knew they was earlier in season then would have been better in the middle of season like Donny.
Only a couple of seasons ago Widnes prevented another club going into GF.....All they got was 9 points (and a cruel SL licence rejection)
But we don't want to see clubs in trouble, as there aren't enough as it is.

EVERY club gets £100k from the RFL. It is part of the deal for stopping promotion and relegation from superleague. All chairman accepted it as part of the franchise deal, yes even the Leigh chairman.

The conditional element of it is that it has to be spent on approved posts, posts which arent for players and help to grow the business, i.e. community development officers, sales people to get sponsors etc.

But why let the truth get in the way......

I was just pointing out something that we all should know but ignoring.
AT is indeed a hero because where would we be now otherwise. Lets face it we are relegated but we have reasons to be ethusiastic still mainly because of this man. Which is all the more reason to show we will support the club in bigger numbers, instead of the people staying away waiting for it to happen. You have to be part of the bad times to appreciate when the good times arrive - the longer it takes to get there the better that feeling is.
