I would. Don't see the point in having competition for places if we're just going to shoehorn the 3rd half back in out of position. Think at the moment Ridy & Rangi have been playing better.
Quote ="leyther forever"I don't think Ryan EVER goes missing. In some games he tries a little too hard and becomes less effective.Sunday was one such game. '"
Perhaps "goes missing" is a bit harsh but he can become inconsistent at times, now there's competition for his place that has to count against him.
Quote ="atomic"And what happens if one ends up injured, your back to two again. How many players needed ops last season! 8 was it? So whats wrong with moving Riddy to Centre to give them a rest.'"
Because Ridy isn't a centre, that's what's wrong with it. He doesn't have the power to make breaks nor the strength for the defensive work centres have to do. It's no rest for him to move him out to centre

Frank ...
your usually very good on here, but come on .....
Rangi or RYAN at Centre
Centres are usually around 6ft tall & between 14 1/2 & 16 stone weight, neither of those two fit the bill.
Anyway, both are playmakers, 6's or 7's & will never be anything else, which is a good thing as both are quality in the halves.

Brierley - In an attacking sense, he would be my full back all day of the week. Defensively / all round, I would put Liam Kay there
Chase - Wasted at FB and either a 6 or possibly a 9, for whom he would be devastating at the PTB.
My team would be :
1 - Kay
2 - Brierley (with the freedom to do what he wants)
[iUtter Madness[/i
14 - Higson (Utility Sub)
15 - Hopkins
16 - Beswick
17 - Spencer
[iGood bench[/i
Time for more Debate !!! LOL'"

And Rangi isn't a fullback, but these options need to be tried. Its all well and good rotating players but the strategy/game plan doesn't change. We need to create other strategies before the 8's or they will all be outplaying us again.

| Quote "halifaxjohn"An honest question.
Do you think the players were/are distracted with the recent upheavals and are the players behind Jukes?'"
Yes HalifaxJohn, I believe the team has been affected/distracted by the PR issue, how could a tightly knit team not be, when your Head Coach who has led you to success & who you know, trust & admire suddenly resigns 10 days before the start of a new season in which you are about to give your biggest ever push/assault towards SL promotion ?
Yes again, I do think that the team are behind Jukesy & the vast majority of fans too.
It will take time to settle down after recent developments & to regain the spirit that PR promoted within the team (not that I think there is no spirit, just that it might have taken a small knock).
The more knowledgeable Leigh fans won't jump to attacking NJ after 1 game, opinions will change 'IF' there is a sustained drop in performances over 5 or 6 games, but I 'think' he will do just fine.
*this is not a post against Snowy's OP* just my opinion.

Ian, in my opinion there has to be some way that 'fringe' players get game time. The classic example, for me, was when young Ben Reynolds was thrust into Martyn Ridyard's role in the Qualifiers. A degree of experience in that role, during the Championship season, would have benefitted him enormously, in being able to cope with what happened in the Qualifiers. So yes, some form of 'rotation' for me.

| Mr Jukes will remain as Coach, allowing King Degsy to pick the team, and state what tactics you play to, it's obvious to see darling Degsy dictates and his minions obey.Tripster what say you?

| Hello.
I have been sedated for the last 2 weeks so you can imagine how shocked I was when I woke up.
Rowley walking? The players will need time to adjust.
Chase at FB? Give over. Not only is he still one of the best HBs in the game, he'll also get frustrated at FB and that's when we'll have to deal with other problems.

| Can't believe anybody is in favour of playing Riddy at centre.
He has neither the attacking or defensive qualities of even an average centre. His game is the link or pivot laying the ball off and putting runners through the gaps, which he is among the best in this league at.
Watch him whenever he gets caught in possession - straight away he is looking to go to ground, you never ever see him fighting to break the tackle. I'd play one of the second rowers at centre before him.

| Interesting thread this one, why on earth do people think a half-back can just move to centre? Are your centres so poor you can replace them so easily? Is the job of a centre so easy that anybody can play there?
A good centre is more than worth his weight in gold, it is one of the reasons we have struggled against the Aussies so leave your centres alone, at least until you play us.

| The idea of playing Ridyard at centre is foolish. His skill set as a player is totally not suited to playing there, and he would be targeted all game long by any coach worth his salt. Although most players can cover numerous positions, how many have covered half-back / centre at a decent level? Jamie Lyon? Not many, most centres are interchangeable with wing / second-row, not at half-back.

| Anyone who advocates playing Ridyard at centre is showing a complete lack of knowledge of the physique, strength and capabilities required in that role. In the absence of a suitable back then the nearest fit is a quick second row forward. However the problem isn't the lack of a centre it is to accommodate three capable halfbacks all with different key skills. There is only one real solution, play two and rest one, don't shuffle a player out of the team and replace him with someone unsuitable for the job.

While I agree that he shouldn't play at centre, and we need to stop trying to shoe horn 3 into 2, it is worth noting that the first person to advocate the idea of Ridy at centre was a certain Paul Rowley!

| Mr Jukes has to be given a chance, he is the only Sane person who knows what the score is, hopefully Degsy will induct him into the inner circle and once brainwashed he will then learn to understand the code of Leigh Centurions, obey or you are out.
