This seasons build up has been the biggest in my lifetime, the plethora of new and previous sponsors has put us in a nice place and the lack of negativity coming from the towns Meldrews has been almost non existent.

Batley will be a very tough game and I think it will be close.
They always give us a very hard game on our patch and its tough start for our new lads to gell in.
However I'm going for a Leigh win 24-16.

I agree it will be close but I think our lads will get the win, I am not writing Batley off because they are a good side but its usually more towards the end of the season when they have won games against us as they get stronger as the season goes on, hopefully this year we will remain strong all through the season assisted by our larger than normal squad.

I agree with that mate I don't think there'll be more than a try or 2 between both sides I'll go with 22-18 to us. I also agree with Dick Jones sentiments too everyone should be welcome to post on here regardless of what team you support even Wiggin fans

I agree with your point about visitors to this forum but Leigh will win comfortably on Sunday.

This squad of ours is far stronger than last season and Batley's isn't.

Batley won't lie down that's for sure, will be a tough game but as I say against teams based more on strength and power (as Batley have for the last few years) we have the pack to deal with it and the backs to capitalise and get round the bigger men and will win by a fair margin. As for the teams that play more creative fast passing out wide like Featherstone and Sheffield......mmmmmmm... I'm not so confident YET. We have the talent there to at least match them, but I'm glad we get a few games in against these weaker sides (and Batley, they definitely won't be a weak side) first.

How do you know that then? Just as a matter of interest?

Have you looked at our signings, their pre-season form, their careers?

Perhaps, just perhaps, we might actually give you a game this week. But don't hold your breath, eh?

I expect a tough game that we have to work at to win, if we don't work hard enough we will lose but if we do I expect a good win - weather permitting

John I have seen Batleys squad and it is not that bad but remember I am Leyth daft.

Actually think our squad is better than last year, some real astute signings by JK.
We'll give you a helluva game but no predictions from me. And thanks to the Leythers who supported us in the GF last season. I will however say Dewsbury might just turn over Fev on their paddy field this weekend.

A lot of singing needs to be done on Sunday and throughout the season, a crucial season. Can't wait now, very confident we can do something this year. We just need to get behind the lads! we've seen how they react when we're in full voice they love it.
