It wont add to the cost reffy prices would remain at £3.50 or £32 we would just need to take £100 from the £4500 we have raised so far

Actually no it will not be discussed then, the chairman asked me and Stef to look at it after we have reported to him then it may be discussed.
It was brought up on here -as I explained before - to ask our customers their views, we now have some they will be reported back and mine and Stefs recommendations will be put forward.
Reffy - yes there will be extra cost but it isn't a great amount and it will be a BOD decision if it can be afforded, I was just tasked to look into it, and IMO asking the customer was the way to do it, I may ask Jonny to do a poll

Mish what you have on leigh life is defiantly simple stuff (it is a very basic low quality video player) and for example doesnt play on an iphone/ipad (i have just tested) and im guessing you have loads of space on a server hence why you can archive stuff and keep for ever.

LCTV is completely different set up which you obviously do not understand it is far from simple! You are comparing a Skoda to BMW in terms of video playback facility and performance!!

The solution is to buy more space or completely redesign the system end of. I would strongly advise staying with Vimeo as this ticks all our boxes for the job required and was thoroughly tested by my developers.

Ooh get you, we use that because it's free to view, simple as. It doesn't take much to upgrade should we have the resources you've had.

I don't know anything specific about the LCTV setup, but I do have a thorough understanding of the technologies behind the setup.

With this in mind, I think Mish is seriously misunderstanding the level of infrastructure that needs to be in place to serve video with the quality and performance of the current LCTV setup. Simply finding a location in which to host large files that can be streamed at a fast speed would be astronomical. This is why utilising a service like Vimeo is the only cost effective way to achieve the current setup.

There are other feasible solutions for an archive, but it would not operate in the same way as the main service.

The video service from LeighLife.com, as valuable as it is, is not currently comparable to LCTV.

Quite frankly, if I had been involved in the setup of LCTV then I too would have taken issue with those particular comments.

First of all I would like to say that all those involved with producing LCTV they are doing an excellent job and the quality is brilliant.





and secondly you can download any game onto your hard drive and then watch it at your leisure.You can also transfer it onto a usb memory stick and watch it on your tv and the quality is very good.I would also like to add that I do this for my own purpose and don't pass it on to anybody else so they can get a freebie.

Jesus wept, I do not have a problem with LCTV or Vimeo, or the set up and running of it.

However, regardless of what you say, it's not rocket science and even though I couldn't do it myself, one of our developers does this for a living so that's why I say it's simple. It's easy when you know how.

I've had my say and I'm more than confident that I am correct that a permanent library of full resolution streaming video delivered at acceptable speeds is significantly beyond the budget available to LCTV.

I suggest we should leave it at what Fred has suggested here. That seems to cover the problem of an initial expansion of storage and the possibility of exploring other ways of storing the excellent archive footage.

Have to agree. I think it is excellent value and after a month I would get fed up of watching Leigh v Batley for another time.

I see no problem with the original proposal and maybe Fred could be PM'D to put a particular video back on at a particular date.

Liked Cokey's post too and although I have no idea what a hard drive is' and the rest of his informative post' I can see that people more technologically savvy would understand it and if I wished could show me how to do it.

I fully support that Alan 50gb of extra storage should resolve the issue and I would suggest that is what is proposed to the BOD for approval.

It is true because that is what my company does for the likes of Nandos, Coca-Cola, The Coop, JD Weatherspoons Beaverbrooks and JD Sports to name but a few.
