| You lot seem to be missing the point.
Not too long ago it was tin rattling and TB saying we need to save money
Well I have one and it will save 25-30k a year
Why appoint a overseas coach???????
When the current team is being coached well
And before you all jump up and down screeching its general manager we need, please tell me what this is and could someone not do it for less from within the club???

| Because there is a job offer on the table which is legally binding. Just to cacel this now just because we are in a vein of form could cost us three times a much in compensation and court costs.

| how about this for a scenario, Paul Rowley didnt apply for the job because at the time, the club was fu**ed with no money, no board, no chairman, no team, no wages, no future, and a huge tax bill and probably thought to himself, taking this would be professional suicide even though he was probably offered the job at that time.
Other people who saw beyond this and the potential that Leigh has to further a professional career i.e Blackmore/Adamson/Alker, went through the recruitment process by meeting agred deadlines and are still doing so, regardles of the clubs predicament.
now a few weeks down the line thankfully we have pulled through, recruited a good squad, got the most transparent leadership in place i can ever remember and started to look like a pro-active ambitious club that communicates and likes feedback.
we have a backs to the wall mentality and have put together 3 impressive FRIENDLY wins, thats all albeit with Paul at the helm.
now then what do you think is going through his mind right now???? well i can tell you, it goes like this
"hhmm we have got a good team, a good board, a good youth setup, less money worries, won 3 on the bounce and a good chance to do well this year, i think i might want this job now!!!!!
well im sorry Paul that horse has bolted and you missed the deadlline mate!!!!!
give the job to the best applicant who applied on time when the going was tough!!
dont forget John Stankevitch was also a shoe in but withdrew his application when he realised how fu**ed we were too!!!!

Read the General Managers advertisement, that tells you it is far more than a coach. I also read into it that some of the salary will be paid by the LSV as he will be working for them also. If we want our club to progress we have to show some ambition. There are no backers likely to come in in the near to medium future.
I suggest that your problem is not the money thing and more of personal issue

Yes I would like Paul to get the job but don't l;et anyone try and make political headway without having the full story and proof.'"
Correct. As usual the voice of sense Fred.
Rather than randomly accusing people of having 'personal issues' with people like Demon UK.
In my opinion, the second most hostile person on this forum.

| Binosh,
Remind who recruited this team ???
If another coach comes in and the players dislike any of his methods the season is likely to implode.
As k the players they will tell you who is in charge.
And my God does ANYONE really believe we would be recruiting a GM if the chosen coach was actually qualified to coach???

| I'm with your Ste, I don't think you can guarantee hat the players will not like a new coach/GM, but it's definitely a risk.
I do think that we are in a bit of a tight spot as we have already offered the job to someone else.

| So now your saying Paul recruited the whole team. If a general manager comes in why do you think he will upset a winning regime? Do you really think that the board would have set out with finding a GM who would upset things at the club. You don't really have a lot of confidense in our board then. The last thing they want is a club at war with each other on top of all the other problems. If or when the GM does turn up people have got to be grown up about it and just get on with getting this club winning more titles. It's not not the Trevour B show or the Paul R show or the Rob P show or any individuals show. It's the Leigh Centurions show.

Ste,
Irrespective of whether Richie or Paul should have the job - and I can see a good case for either - I believe we DO need a GM. The admin. staff are thin on the ground, and stretched. The GM position is full time and someone is needed in that role, since Dave Bradshaw left. I would suggest that the last thing PR wants on his shoulders is a crippling burden of admin work. I saw how much Dave Bradshaw had to cope with, and Mike Callaghan before him.

To prove to the UKBA that there was a GM job vacancy? Don't forget, DB was still working 'part-time' as GM until Xmas.

| Suppose our board could just give Paul the Head coach role and then appoint a General Manager.
I think that is what is likely to happen.

| I can see the following happening at the club over the next 18 months.....
RB to become coach/GM.......Rowley as assistant
Next season U18 and U20`s to start up again
RB to become GM only........Rowley to become head coach (in 12-18 months time)
New commercial manager appointed
What people don't realise is that you need all these positions filled to be successful in SL application (as Widnes had to do), the GM and head coach cannot be the same person at SL level I believe....no SL club employs 1 person to do both roles and I believe due to the current money position the club finds themselves in at the mo is behind the joint role that's on offer at present - that will change as I've said after the coming season to be in line for the SL application.
We don't have a choice really if we want to take the step up to the next level.

| well on current showing would be happy with rowley in charge of team affairs, i am not being 2 faced, i always said i did not want paul as coach, but he has obviously learnt a hell of a lot from millward, and as previously stated by me happy for him to take the job especially without the added problem of having his father as ceo.

| So Richie Blackmore wants an administration role, yeah and the moon is made of blue cheese.
Alan I've no doubt we need a GM so why not properly advertise for one rather than get a coach in through back door

| Can't be bothered to read through all the pages, but can anyone post who decided on the squad we have. Seems strange that the new players have been brought in without the new coach advising - if he becomes the coach that is.
Needs sorting whichever way this goes.
