Help to have a club next season , how ' negative ' do you want ?

In answer to the orginal posters question, nothings changed except we the club need to make up the money that Arthur used to put in from somewhere.

SO LET STOP FALLING OUT AND GET TOGETHER AND HELP

Leigh is not a buisness like a building/engineering company rightly or wrongly sporting clubs dont get looked on the same and you know it, people are passionate about leigh and it comes from generations before us so dont start comparing the two, when people sponsor people for sporting clubs they do it mainly because they understand the hurt caused when a club is struggling and look at it more sympathetically because a sporting club is peoples recreation, when a buisness is sruggling it affects the family and employees only.
At the end of the day it waqs a daft comment thats why you removed it.

You know what they can do one if they think Im doing charts etc

On another topic - Leigh Centurions is neither a business nor a charity - its a sporting club that must embrace aspects of each. A business exists to make money for its shareholders - you would have to be crazy to think that Leigh Centurion fits this definition - BUT, the club needs to be run with a business mentality and that is the key. As Maurice says, use business acumen to minimise the shortfalls and fill that gap with pure goodwill support - which is where the charity comes in.

Starbug, you may have a hang-up about begging, and to some extent I can see where you are coming from. But, if you will pardon the pun, beggars cannot be choosers. If the objective at the end of the day is to save the club from oblivion, surely each of us has to put aside our own personal hang-ups and reservations - if you cannot support actively, at least please do not try to belittle or drag it down. I could come on here and poke holes in virtually everything the club and LISA have done in the last 3 or 4 years, and why they didn't do this, that or the other but generally I don't.

I am sure you have the best interests of the club at heart but you're actually doing some serious damage here, not only offending a number of individuals but generally casting an air of negativity on the whole board. It sounds like there may be a reason for that which should remain private...but please bear in mind that not every post people make on here has to be responded to or seen as a challenge.

I echo Waterfield's Finest in his comments about leadership. I am sure you do not see yourself in that capacity, but we all have to act as leaders in this environment and at this critical time. There are a number of people on this board who who have the professionalism, intellect, capacity, skills and experience to make a real difference - if we can all stop bickering and put our heads together and make it work. That, after all, is what being a business is all about - communication, compromise, openness are all key attributes that we have to display daily in our real jobs.

I didn't intend this to become a sermon, but I am becoming increasingly concerned by what is being posted here.

I support the club because its my pastime you don't go and support a business that gives you nothing back

I raised a thread on here a while back asking what was the policy and the future plans for LISA, and was ‘just’ giving to the club a good long term strategy, I kind of got shot down, so never joined.

However there’s a time and a place to raise these issues and I feel at this moment this isn’t it, its more important to just put personal views to one side for the greater good of all.

And that’s why I’ve got £60 in my pocket to give to that grumpy old fart when I see him on Sunday.

I agree with what you say , but the more a business acts like a charity , the more it will remain like a charity , my point being it needs to act more like a business , and not rely on charity

LCRL will never be able to run on its own without the help from other sources ie the fans and such

Did I suggest Lynda should do anything, I suggested the committee should have KPIs, goals, aims, targets call them what you want at the start of each financial year!!

At this moment LISA has one single purpose , to be the vehicle to enable the clubs fans to safely help the club get through the rest of this season and hopefully the next , because all its contributions to the club are by donation the club doesn't incur any tax or other costs , meaning all the monies placed in the LISA bank account can be used by the club , and are ring fenced to a degree as the money is only given to the club as required

All other considerations are for another day

I would suggest that at the moment LISA doesn't do any of the above things you suggest Ste , I have no doubt that at the next AGM , all posts will be up for re election , all are welcome to attend

At the next LISA meeting (AGM) I'm sure on the night the LISA members including myself will vote for money to be used to see the club through this season, next season, whenever its needed. But technically until then I was under the impression LISA's mandate was still to fund first team players?

If we pay players they can use other revenue to run the club!!!!!

Leyther1 - I was thinking the same myself, but we could still choose which players we wanted to pay the wages of, and that would probably guarantee them a first team spot. I vote for Steve McCurrie!

I am getting pretty sick of your comments. Stuff KPI's and stuff you. I don't live in Leigh but have tried to help LISA in the past (Quiz nights forms raffle tickets etc) but not living in Leigh does make it difficult. Therefore I have decided to resign from the committee you can take may place!

I will of course help giving out forms on Sunday as I promised Linda.

Worldcup - I hope you reconsider your decision. We need more people involved and not less! I don't think Tipster Ste's suggestion is out of order and its not really a lot of additional work. Its not that not meeting these targets is a failure, its a marketing and motivational tool.

I have to say though that it is unfair to criticize anybody for not pulling weight on LISA as not everyone is aware of what everyone does behind the scenes and besides, this is an unpaid project and people often have a lot on their plates - anything they do therefore needs to be appreciated and valued. Lets pull together folks, not apart!

Spot on. I ain't knocking anyone's efforts I simply say the committee should have targets to aim, they might have I don't know if they do great. If they
don't let's make some for the next financial year.

Calm down I make no apologies for asking a question of whether the LISA committee set any targets for this season.

I've no idea who you are or what you have done for LISA but you obviously don't like being questioned?

One obvious yearly target for LISA would be to increase membership by a set %.

I've no intention of taking anyone's place on any LISA committee right now but thanks for the offer.

Lisa needs people on the committee who are prepared to give their time each week to run the organisation. At present it appears to me that only Peter and Linda do this. At the AGM we need nominations for the committee from people who are willing and able to get involved in one or more ways, Charlie runs the Poker nights sucessfully and he would be an ideal nomination even if the poker night is his only contribution. Another 7 or 8 committee members organising events and raising £3k each a year would really put LISA on the map.
The club could put a £1 increase on tickets for all apart from Kids for the remainder of the season which would bring in a few thousand extra.
Turn up at the meeting and if you have the time get involved, but ONLY if you do have the time as a committee of 20 who only turn up at the AGM is as much use as a choclate fireguard whilst people like Linda Peter and Charlie who do give their time are as rare as rocking horse muck.
