Rooney hasn't lived on the back of any player. He's had a tough time since the World Cup yeah, doesn't chance the fact he netted 35 goals (I think) last season without Ronaldo. The season Rooney has only scored more than 20 in one season is that he changed his game when Ronaldo left, then he became the goal scorer, and he did a pretty marvellous job. He became the main man and stepped up.
The CL stats are still quite impressive tbh, and his influence on the team, whether that be United or England is great. Without Rooney or Gerrard England would be even worse, and because of their poor form in the WC, admittedly more so Rooney, we suffered.
Rooney is world class, for his impact. When he plays United and England are better sides, by a long stretch.
You can pull up stats for goal scorers yes, like V.Nistlerooy who will have a far better goal record, but that's it, he's a goal scorer. Rooney's game is more than that.

His agent maybe gave him dud info, but he seemed to have made his mind up. Ambition of club not matching his etc. Whats changed since a few days ago? No doubt Taggart fed him "the Biggest club in the world" speech, and "letting the fans down" speech etc - so take the big pay rise, and if you wanna go at the end of the season no worries.
They have upped his wages, and he has seen no clubs (despite what the media tried to do) showing any interest. He was in no mans land, and would be lucky to get a game until January. I think anyone would have done the same whether he does genuinely want to stay or wants to leave still.
But its still a kick in the teeth to "the biggest club in the world" that a player can have them over a barrel and they panicked because of the so called queue of clubs ready to sign him. It would certainly have sent a very big negative message to where the club was at, and they knew it.

I think by saying you absolutely hate United, that youve just proven that nothing anyone can say can change your mind, hes won every domestic trophy there is to win at the age of 24, hes probably averaged a goal every 2 games in the league since he came to Manchester, you cant single handeldy blame him for not taking us to the Euro's the whole management and squad under performed. I can think of goals in semi-finals against City, Champions league games in Milan (where we hadnt scored never mind won in previous years)
Also his image right are worth arounf 7-8million pounds a year to United, so payng him £5.2 million a year is justified, hes our best player by a mile, hes the best English footballer we have, any neutral that doesnt hate United will tell you the same

Hes a class striker and finisher, but his reading of the game, touches, movement everything about him says hes a World Class footballer whether some people like to admit it or not.
