If the RFL deduct 9 points off Gateshead from last season then they will be relegated and we must be reinstated in Championship. We all talk about rules, and the rules state that 2 teams will be relegated from Championship to Championship One. If the RFL fail to reinstate us then I would say we have a strong case to take to arbitration.

Your right ,if Gateshead go down plus we stay down then thats 3 teams ,so they either put us back or they are BREAKING THOSE DAMN RULES .

I think them rules are to do with the league season though surely. If it was in the rules that 2 go down, by results on the field or if a club goes under etc it would say so.


All we can hope for is if RFL see Leigh being in C1 as a pointless excercise considering we would be spending a lot more than the rest. I don't subscribe to us having a cr@p season myself, as I thought it was a poor one but not enough to be relegated. Its the 2 out of 10 clubs rule that has spoiled the season gone. I just hope they change it for common sense sake

There were no ifs and buts though apart from Toulouse so if we go off word for word then they must reinstate 1 club , i'm sure a lawyer would very easily tear it to shreds.

Gateshead would not have been relegated. The old Gateshead club would have gone out of business and the new one would have applied for membership of the RFL and applied for a place in Championship 1. The RFL would not have broken any rules as only Donny and Leigh have been relegated and the "new" Gateshead club will be welcomed into a larger Championship 1. We are where we are until the Chairmen of Championship clubs realise how much revenue they will lose with a reduced fixture list. By then it will be too late to do anything about it.

My point is, if the RFL deduct 9 points from Gateshead and then say they're relegated because they had less points than us then they have to reinstate us. If, as I expect them to, they tell Gateshead they have to start afresh in C1 because they are effectively a new club then that's a different matter in which case they'll start next season on -9.
