He didn't exactly impress at Wigan.

I understand this, but there are overriding circumstances why that was, i am not saying he is the best coach in the world but a step in the right direction IMO

It may not have worked for him last season at Wiggin, but we don't know the full circumstances for this. He will make it happen at Leigh. Our defence should be hard to crack and I ain't bothered about how we play so long as we win.I would rather win ugly and get promoted than come 2nd with classy rugby.

Hope Leigh don't have the injury and suspension problems together with a below strength squad than he had to put up with at wigan.

The combination of Chester and Lam is a real statement of where DB intends us to be. Lam will now attract quality assistants and players. He will also have the inside track on quality/hungry, up and coming Australian players who could do a job for us, without breaking the bank in the Championship.

It fails to amaze me, people actually think he failed.

Totally agree Atomic , Lam was Coach to a League Leaders shield , and a Grand Final appearance , not exactly a failure , Wigan have now got a Coach who has won nothing , no comparison for me .

Good appointment in my opinion , it shows Lammy wants his own back room staff , we have been asking for a clear out , maybe it’s on its way .

Ian, the club looks like they're going in a better direction to previous seasons. I'm confident we will be challenging for promotion at the end of the season.

I agree 100% Derek , we have a Coaching team of Class now , and with a few quality additions we can easily challenge Fev.
Folk keep going on about Fax , yeah they have signed players , personally none of their signings would get into my first choice team , I think York could be another danger , but I’m getting happier everyday .

Obviously someone he trusts. His choice.

Looks like Leigh supporters see some good in Lam and Clubb which is more than can be said by a element of Wigan supporters.

We scored 0 tries for two home games in a row for the first time since 1974. That's not due to injuries either. The side included Hardaker, Gildart, Hastings, Farrell, Bateman all playing. I wish him well but he absolutely failed. Most of us were genuinely relieved when Leeds knocked us out of the play offs, as watching the games had become such a chore.

Three of the five players ie. Bateman, Gildart and Hardacre never played to the level of previous seasons.

Will be interesting to see how you go this season.

Yeah I'm not that confident to be honest.

Backs - having either Thornley or Miski starting even in our strongest 17 is a concern. We should have tries in us with French, Marshall, Bibby and Hardaker though.

6/7/9 - A lot of pressure on the shoulders of Smith, Cust (both inexperienced) and Leuluai (way past it) at halfback. It will be interesting to see what we get out of Powell at 9. Wane used to just have him as a tackling machine, he seemed to take on a bit more attacking responsibility under Lam.

Forwards - Were a real let down last year, we regularly struggled to make hard yards, putting lots of pressure on young props. The two new props (Mago and Ellis) absolutely have to make an impact if we are to have any chance.

You know sometimes I think SL don’t blood enough.. But fair enough with your comments. Expectancies are set higher with each club. I’m sure the new blood will go well..
