My interpretation was that he was joking. (He had alluded to the fact that we had nobody left from the Rowley era, and somebody mentioned Jamie.)

We can't allow the opposition to dictate who we select/don't select. I reckon that Rowley will 100% try to take advantage of any perceived weakness and that Jamie is just going to deal with this type of situation. It could be the making of him. (or................................................)

Paul Rowley will use every means at his disposal to win the game, niggling Jamie Acton is a primary function he will not miss, how much does he value Jamie as a threat, would he be willing to play a chess move and sacrafice someone like Bussey with instruction that if also gets sent of so be it.
On the other hand does Neil Jukes think selecting Jamie may disrupt the team to much if he gets sent off
I'm with Atomic, we are scheduled to play TWP 3 times this year, not playing him sends out a message for all the wrong reasons, and if by any actions Jamie does are unwarrented in that being something totally stupid, then the club should get shut, surely after Jamies public apoligies to the fans and his teammates following his last suspension, he should expect nothing less.

All teams have players who 'run the gauntlet' when it come to discipline! In the Qualifiers game against KR Jewson (KR Prop) had a field day against us bullying our pack, I was particularly frustrated to see Jaime, Hock and Weston sat in the Stand, do you think they would have allowed Jewson a free hand? No we have got to have some fire and, Jaime is one of the best Props in the Game hence, his four year contract!
At Mick Martyn's funeral Service recently, I noticed the Leigh squad enter the Church and sit on Benches along the Church Wall. None of those players were aware that they had just filed past another Leigh legend, 85 year old Stan Owen. Leaving the Church the players again passed by Stan and as Jamie passed him, I couldn't help but smile(first of the day) I though Jamie, you don't know who you have just passed

H, you'll remember Stan as well as do and know Stan too played the game 'on the Edge'


I would ask all our fans to get behind Jaime because he puts his body on the line for Leigh every time he plays and, that'll do for me (Tommy)

Well here we are on the verge of another season Kirky Sir and I am still waiting for Acton to A) convince me and B) deliver that promise a lot see in him. In fact I am still awaiting for him to be available for team selection for more than a minimum of two thirds of all Leigh RL games per season.

But we will see , we will see. I want him to prosper as much as you and all our fans do, but I fear something is not right with him. I really do.

Nice little story about Stan who was a player and a Gent, I have a lot of respect for albeit it I have not bumped into him for a long time. Sadly I was away at the time of Mick's funeral. I also remember Stan's lad, young Ivor. Probably no longer a lad any more.

Also we both know the game has moved on since Stan's glory days. It is a lot faster than it ever was. Multiple TV cameras, computers and full on player performance analysis are now the order of the day.

Players are now under so much scrutiny, and are playing under enormous pressures. You have to control these pressures and keep emotions in check and learn to where to channel aggression correctly. The ability to do so is what breeds winners.

It is one thing young Gunner saying we have to live with Acton conceding a couple of penalties here and there but I don't subscribe to the theory. The most disciplined team wins Super League games so those penalties can be all the difference.

what I'm trying to say about Acton is yes he might give a penalty because at the moment any sort of aggression and he gets pulled but what I want out of him is stop the silly penalties but I bet he's not one of the worst for giving stupid penalties like off side, lying on or speaking back to the referee,it's them penalties that wind me up not the ones were Acton belts someone

I recall Tickle and Hopkin were not shy when it came to conceding Penalties last season

Stan was accompanied by his (young) Son Ivor. Whilst Stan walked with the aid of a stick, I amused to see him leave it on his chair while he walked to the other side of the Church to speak to some of his former playing colleagues


What a character no braver player played the game and, you didn't mess with Stan

All that era had amazing appearance records - never seemed to get injured. Although part-time it was a full 80 minutes no interchange no subs no video ref delays and no six tackle halt to proceedings - not sure how they managed without water carriers either!

Wonder what’s different that we end up with huge number of players out for the season at crucial times?

Acton has got to appear against Toronto, if he doesn't it gives Rowley bragging rights. However, he shouldn't start; he should be introduced after the expected opening exchanges have subsided.
