The performance was outstanding, I had some concerns after the friendlies about our defence, they would seem to be unfounded now. The lads did really well, stunning way to start the season.
As for the tannoy, it was particularly annoying on Sunday as I had arranged a shout out for my daughters birthday at half time and have no idea if it was read out or not, couldn't hear anything clearly in the North Stand.

The tannoy system is a huge area of concern for myself and many people at present. The club as a whole have made miraculous progress over the last 8 months and the end product on the pitch last Sunday was fantastic to watch.

However, the tannoy has been constantly unreliable since we played our first game at the LSV. The match day announcer has the most difficult, yet extremely important job in the ground on the day. He is the focal point for everything that is happening at the club and the interface with all fans. When he has to constantly battle issues with his mic and comms it looks amateurish and inevitably impacts on his overall performance and ability to create a rapport with the crowd. A few first time visitors have commented on this to myself over the last few years and I assumed that the LSV would have had it sorted by now!

Do they have the same issues at Blackburn Reserve games? During the RL World Cup game were there any issues?? I don't know because I couldn't attend. If there wasn't, then what are we doing wrong on matchdays?

The cheerleaders and the flags all looked really smart also and great to see the kids being involved. I think it would be better for them to stand in a wide 'V' shape from the tunnel though as al the players by-passed their guard of honour on Sunday and only a couple ran through it (which was a shame as it looked really, really smart).

I had a brilliant day on Sunday and felt priviliged to see my home team play a style of RL i haven't witnessed for a long time, culminating in some unbelievable tries. I know EVERYBODY at the club is trying so hard to make matchday the best it can be and this is not a cheap shot at anybody. Its an observation by myself and others which I hope can be resolved to enable the matchday experience to become even more professional and allow us to stand out when we reach the Top.

Just as a comment for those involved in the match day experience off the pitch.
To try and create a bit more interest in our league and the teams in it maybe a few half time or latest scores wouldn't go amiss with a few full time ones also announced when known at the end of the game ?

Think a few things maybe broke or not quite working right but we do have by far better facilities then all bar Donny in our league and half of SL for that matter !!!!

Agree entirely on scores announced at half time. It's always interesting to hear what's going on in other matches at half time and can make the 2nd half even more exciting if we know a rival is in a close game, especially when we get into the business end of the season.

I have to say that I found that music clip to be totally uninspiring. Maybe, at 39, I am getting old but its not the kind of thing that makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up, is it?

Just so people understand the thinking behind this, It's a remix of dance track based on gladiator the film so it's of a Centurion theme.

Appreciate it won't be everyone's cup of tea but the players want it and we have to try and move with the times and target a younger audience also.

While high oh silver lining will always have a special place in the heart of leigh fans many people have complained that the music is old hat and yesteryear so we are just trying to give the new leigh centurions a new musical experience to match.

A guy who is now a good friend of mine and the club and also works for our official club partners "Evans Halshaw" cut and edited/ mixed (whatever the technical term is for this stuff

) this especially for Leigh Centurions free of charge which I'm really grateful for.

DJ Caino is a Ministry of Sound DJ and can command over 150 pounds per hour his gigs so it was nice of him to take the time do this for us FOC.

When he issued the CD to me with it on I played it very loud through my car sound system and it is awesome but less so if played through an iPad or PC on here.

I just don't think it's either loud enough or has enough bass through the PA system at LSV to have the desired effect however I do know that Michael Ward and Rob are giving up their own time out of hours to sound check and test the music systems working with LSV and are working hard to identify the problem and improve the sound so we are doing our best please rest assured.

Probably in a minority but I don't think this music does the job, but then I think players running onto the pitch is more uplifting than strolling on.

I really like the tune and it sounds great at full volume. It's definitely something that I imagine would get the lads' heart pumping if it can be played loud enough.

I'd love a piece adding at the end, where is says 'We are free' - it would be great if we could then add a really loud 'We are Leigh' just as the music finishes.

I'm afraid I was the one who originally put forward the last piece music (Carmina Burana : O Fortuna ) but we have used it now and to good effect. I don't have a problem with us having a new theme music for the players entrance to the field, in fact I think it could change every season. Can you post a link to it please Andy then we can listen and get used to it. Onwards and upwards is what I say and variety IS the spice of life.

Right I have listened to it now and although I like the music these are my thoughts. In that format it is too twee for the entrance of our team. It needs the base line increasing to make it boom and needs playing loud. It needs a crescendo of that base line and a gradual tempo increase, then a fade off. The biggest problem I can hear is that it sounds like an RU theme. Those are my thoughts but with a bit of tinkering it could work.

Personally I loved the entrance theme. Now if we can just get more of the crowd belting out some songs just after it....
Especially the west stand (can hear a pin drop)

His first taste of Rugby League was when i took him to watch the Wigan V Leigh Challenge Cup game last year and he fell in love with the noise and passion of the Leigh fans and since then has been to nearly every home game.

He very kindly did a remix of this song for the club but did specify the stadium sound system would need looking at as it just is not loud enough or have enough bass to correctly get this music through to the crowd correctly.

He also edited 19 other tracks to be played at key points i.e after a try is scored or a goal kicked but as yet none of those have been played as yet.

The key for me is the Speaker system just does not sound right for a state of the art stadium, You could have Pete Tong playing but it would still sound rubbish.

Fair play to the bloke. All helps make the matchday experience better, especially for the younger generation. These things are very very important in my personal opinion

Just been on Caino's blog. There's loads of stuff on there that I would love us to play at certain times in the game. Be great to record the north stand and put some in a mix.

I agree there mate if the likes of Dylan are having a good match day experience then that's a massive thumbs up & is paramount to the long term survial of our club

I'd like the teams to come out to 'Entrance of the Gladiators' just once in a season...for old times sake. (Am I the only one?)

Like the idea not sold on the "tune". Thanks to the bloke for doing it though, might sound better when the PA is sorted and played to a packed ground, would like to hear the stuff he's done for trys and things, the club should definitely be keeping in contact with him.



How about a full "Heritage match" once a season (like they have in the NRL) March of the Gladiators, old fashioned cherry and white hoops with the town crest on a black patch, if it's possible to design the scoreboard to look like the one at Hilton Park (if it's not a massive hassle), get a few past players in the Legend's Bar and on the pitch at half time, have a collection and donate the match sponsorship money to a local charity.
