it's no use bemoaning our (notable) lack of pace in the three quarters as most of them are signed up for next season. I think Featherstone murdered us on the edges today and at half time I really thought we was on for a serious beating, we were that poor.

Penky was introduced shortly after conceding again in the second half and suddenly we looked like a team that [iwas[/i going to score, Penky injecting much needed enthusiasm and pace around the ruck and at least we were now matching their speed in that area.

Our first half performance had left us with a mountain to climb though.

Make no mistake the best team did win and Featherstone will take some stopping from here IMO.

If penky could tackle like beswick he'd start every game. One things for sure he needs more game time because we look far more dangerous when he's on the pitch. I think we're a better side than batley if we move the ball around like we did second half today.

Ryan Brierley scored two today,did not have a bad game but but was directly at fault on Featherstone's second try by raring out the defensive line...And missing.

Quite frankly, an atrocious record.

I hope Paul Rowley is far from a beaten man and has saved a couple of tricks up his sleeve.

Best team won by some distance imo. If we play to our very best for 80 minutes we may and can give fev a game, as per nrc, however playing in patches against a top quality outfit like fev just aint going to get the win. Basic errors, shocking tackling on the edges cost us today, cant fault effort, but just not good enough. My tip fir the gf is a fev/fax final, fev to win it.

1 win in 5 games says it all really. The players we have are good enough to beat any team in this league, but once again it comes down to the coaching, PR should know by now how Featherstone play, we have played them enough times to know this.
Being coached like this will never put enough bums on seats.
My patience with the coaching/tactics is wearing very thin.

The players will tell you it's nothing to do with the coaching it's the way they are (or are not) implementing his game plans.

Plus Featherstone have had two coaches since we played them whom have tweaked their game plans accordingly.

What does that say, do the players not respect PRs tactics, because if they did they would play how PR wants them to play.
Featherstone have played near enough the same rugby all season and we still cant read their game.
In my opinion PR is at his level in this league, he wont stand a chance in SL, if we ever get there.

Well that is a bit harsh imo.

Fev are a very good side and from 28 4 in the second half we came back a lot better than most of us expected.

I still think we can beat Batley on Sunday then who knows ?

Would be nice to see a few fans back too who have not been since the Wigan partnership business apparently stopped them from attending. Do they have a real hatred of Tom Spencer who has given his all for our team this season? Oh and ask any Leigh fan who still attends what they think of Spenner and which club they would like to see him at next season.

Think its more of a hatred for the way they look at it on the other side of the borough, as those on the inside there will tell you that its seen as some kind of punishment if you have a poor run of form, or don't put the effort into training, you'll be playing a league below!

But they still beat us. I don't think I am being harsh its just how I see it.
I think people need to take of their Rowley tinted glasses and accept that a NRC win doesn't make PR a fantastic coach, I really do think this league is PRs level, I have been saying this for a long time.
I want the best for Leigh and I will always support them, and will get to as many games as possible but my enthusiasm isn't like it used to be.
I hope I am wrong but I think Batley will stuff us.
Like I said 1 win in 5 games is unacceptable, that is there for everybody to see, for me there is only one person responsible for this.

The players ....

In only his second full league season as a head coach he has guided us to 4th place on a very limited budget and won the Northern Rail Cup he has done well.
Like I said earlier the players are taking the responsibility (though PR has also taken it) for any defeat, and having watched Featherstone on a number of occasions since the start of the season (on DVD) their playing style has altered since Long took over the reigns (for one their outside backs are playing better more expansive rugby)and they have brought more quality players into their camp.

We have lost to Dewsbury, Batley, Sheffield as well as Featherstone in as many weeks

It worries me somewhat if the coach can not get his players to implement his game plan and that is a crucial criteria that falls under every single coach's remit.

However Paul is a young British coach and He will be our Head coach in 2014 regardless of what happens on Sunday.

He has my full support.

I Dont care whos fault it was, lets correct it and move on and win on Sunday, thats something a Leigh coach hasnt managed since my favourite coach

I must say, nothing I saw Sunday, tells me FEV aren't beatable though.
