| Very dissapointed with the 1 st half , but considering the barmy penatlies in the 1 st ten minutes and the fact they have spent a week warm weather training [ ,not to mention a full 1 st team it wasn't unexpected and only Widnes,Fax and Barrow would have withstood it better than us
2nd half was much better , shame we hadn't played Salford first

| I thought Wire played some superb stuff in the first half particularly.
Mathers had a game and a half and I thought Solomina's offloads were brilliant and that kick he made to the corner was something you don,t expect to see from a forward of his size. Wire are a formidable side and should go well this season.
Re us I thought we showed some good touches and ran angles which was something we did not do last season. I also liked the way we looked to keep the ball alive.
For me our best performances where C Hill as usual' McConnell Ridyard and Robbie Paul.
We will do a lot better than last season and I truly believe we will score a lot of points.
We will also get better as the season goes on. I did not think the match was poor and to have a second half score of 24-16 speaks volumes for the never say die attitude of our side.

| 36 - 0 down at half time and never gave up. Leigh can hold their heads up. I thought Ridyard played some excellent rugby and should be our number 6 for the season. He will come on leaps and bounds under Millward. Higson was very good when he came on also. We will be in for a very good season. we were playing a full time team who will be challenging Saints and leeds. They have just come back from Tenerife being coached by Smith and Andrew Johns. I expected them to score 50 or 60 but I didn't expect us to score 3 tries, so well done Leigh.

| Quote ="Leyther_till_death"I don't know what people were expecting. We were never going to win the game, infact I expected to lose by 30+ seeing the teams line up during the week. We'd lost the game within the first 10 mintues. The first half was very poor. Our defence through the middle was poor and also out wide.
Warrington will be a top 4 Super League side next season and had top quaility internationals throughout the team the closest in that respect we could get to that is Duffy and Nanyn playing for Scotland.
However, I was pleased with how we played in the second half, we acutally did look alot more dangourous when attacking than we did last season, with options and people backing up on the side (albeit Chris Hill in the first half when Paul made half a break).
In particular I was impressed with Chris Hill as always, Andy Ainscough looks abit of a prospect and Nicky Stanton should always start in place of Maden. =#FF0000Our long kicking game at times was poor, however Paul's short kicking game could see us score some points and get plenty repeat sets. My MOM though was Dave McConnell, when he came on he made things happen and caused Warrington some problems.'"
It did look that way (our long kicking game) but did you see how they dealt with it? In effect, they emplyoyed two full-backs, on defence (Mathers and King) each about 15 metres in from touch. That made it extremely difficult to put an effective long kick anywhere. Perhaps we could learn from that, on defence?

Just think it's a bit much to ask people to pay £14 for a friendly in which the opposition "may" be fielding their academy thats all.
It's my opinion only and each to their own but it'll put people off going thats for sure.

| We will turn out a great front row, impressed with Meekin and Nash, Hill was outstanding, and Basils got him running some great lines, pity we couldnt finish the one in the first half.
McConnell looked like he was fighting for a spot, and has put some size on Duffy and Mac here will do nicely.
Add in Bibey and Taylor and we will mix it well up front.
Paul and Ridyard look like the halves, Alstead/Stanton wings, Nanyn and loanee centres with Mort/Donlan at FB.
Lacking in back row and centres today, but liked the look of one of our loanees and Nanyn will more than hold his own at C level.
Happy we had some moves in us and am looking forward to a great season.

| Are we not being slightly premature, in assuming W***n will field a weak side? It's supposed to be an 'earner' for them, and us. Let's not put people off attending, before anything definite is known!

Agreed. I was just going off what other people have posted. It would be disappointing given that their chairman did make a lot of the fixture and our "relationship" last season.
However best to wait until the squads are announced of course.

| Very poor first half, being 18-0 down in about 10 minutes didn't bode us well for the rest of the game. We played much better 2nd half, I thought Jock caused them quite a few problems. We managed to lose the 2nd half by about 10 points - much better than that of the first.
Like has been said, it may not be such a bad thing if Wigan dont send there strongest team, I couldn't see past another 40/50 point defeat if they send their best team and that won't do anything for our confidence.

| Been talking to some Pies at the hospital tonight and they think that it will be the reserves and they said that everyone that they knew was not going because of it, so don't expect a 6K crowd. Hill and Jock were excellent today. Just think that Jock gets a bit excited and throws the ball anywhere sometimes. Just as I said "I don't know why we kept Armisted" he gave Harrison his comupance. I think most teams are going to look small against the Wire pack. What the hell have they been fed and where has that chest and those arms come from on Mickey Higham. Carvel looked like he had a pillow stuffed up his shirt. Sorry but they looked unaturaly beefed up. Smith a ref? Get your rule book out Ian and watch your performance tonight. Wire a top 4? Not for me. We opened them up a few times today and if we can do it. I agree with everyones dissmay about the Pies bringing their reserves and I think they should cancel the game if thats what they want to do. Don't know what to do now.

I wil be there whatever team he plays

| I think I was a bit unfair earlier when I only named 4 players I saw a lot of committment from more than that and it bodes well.
I saw signs today that our lads will compete in the Championship.I didn,t early doors last season.

Bottom line is we are not up to the standard of probably any SL club , so hopefully next week we will see a more competitive match , and that is probably worth paying for
