Im a ST holder and have no problem with the freebies being given away.

You never know, some of these people on the freebies may come back and that for me can only be a good thing.

Atherton Dragons, Golborne Parkside, Leigh East, Leigh Miners Rangers, and Westhoughton Lions, have all been given 400 tickets between them for the South Stand hopefully they'll get on TV, they've been asked to attend in their club colours, and each club should have a banner with their clubs name on, other things are also planned, think there will be an official statement before Thursday.

Why not do it like every other entertainment venue and if the turnstile opperator sees that the people trying to use the ticket are not adults and children then they give them the nod and the perps dont advance any futher than the entrance. You still have to get through revolving gate. Anyway it's not rocket science and thankx to whoever it was for deleteing my other post. The flyers by the way could be put in the programes as they would be directed to the people who buy it and are most probably season ticket holders. I can't believe people can't see how easy it would be to do properly.

never having been a steward or wanting to be one TBH but when we used to police games (and hats all stewards do -that is take the police precence away) it wasnt to check tickets. Thats the job of the gate operators, out side the ground stewards are there to relieve congestion-check for knives-keep order etc, if i was in charge of them those would be my prime concern, i wouldnt have them checking tickets.
Why pay students Steve when any flyers can be picked up or given out by gate operators? does anyone actually read a flyer if its handed to you? I dont, might as well just leave a box outside the gate at least they would be easier to pick up and throw away in the bin rather than them flying all over the place in any wind.

All this fuss about the fact that someone has paid for 400 family tickets and has decided that they should be given away on a 'one off' occassion, its hardly a crime get over it people.

That's the point Fred , we should be doing similar at every game , as for the stewards , well they wouldn't be checking tickets , they'd be checking who had the tickets , and it's not difficult to spot a group of people without any kids in it , as for reading ' flyers ' well yes , except these flyers would be a message from our chairman/BOD and as such , hopefully they would be read by our loyal paying fans

The reason communicating with the fans is so important is quite simply because the reason we dont do free ticket initiatives is that the board are worried that they would be abused and this would result in a reduction in season ticket sales , this I know because I have been told

So the answer is to educate the fans we have , the loyal willing to pay fans that we need their support in trying things to increase our support base which will then result in more income for the club and less reliance on Mr Thomas

Not a gesture at all , it is what we recieve for the Co op sonsorship of the Championships

I have a season ticket and wouldnt object to any promotional activity from the club for any home games this year. I have put forward ideas to the club for different promotional days for certain games throughout 2010. However one of the biggest handicaps to us throughout 2010 will be Sky TV. Once a game is on a Thursday night any promotion will be worthless when moved at short notice.

I have now had two posts deleted from this thread none of which were insulting or in the slightest bit defamatory. So before I send a report to the site moderator and my internet provider I suggest someone tells me why this is happening. Hacking into anyones computer is illegal.

Near the top of page two of this thread I posted that the Co-OP sponsorship pays for these tickets.....does no one read anymore

To be fair I think the mods on this site are very realistic and I think they will provide an explanation if you contact them.

I do not like censorship and I see many opinions on here which I do not agree with but I try to respect other people's views irrespective of that because if thats what a person thinks it is their buisness not mine.

I am sure there will be an answer to the deleted posts no doubt you will let us know the outcome' of the enquiries' I would certainly make if it had happened to me.

I posted that I would like to shake the hand of the person who had bought the 400 tickets to give away and one simillar to the one at the top of this page and this is the second time I am sending this one. It's not funny now.

Having now had chance to read all the thread, tickets haven’t simply been thrown out like confetti.

The 5 local clubs were given a form to fill in ‘Who wants a free ticket?’ (I never asked but would imagine it’ll be funded by the Co-op, does it matter?), the form had to include the adults name and contact details and just the name of the child, a representative from each club was asked to drum up support from their club and to ensure the form was completed correctly, they had up until mid day Saturday to return the form to LSV reception, Leigh will then issue the tickets today/tomorrow for the South Stand.

Could it be abused? Of course it could, but hopefully not.
