| Quote ="scubes"We have been on a rollercoaster over the last few years, the club have tried many different approaches unfortunately without the success that we, the supporters, crave.
We now have a new BOM, that seem to have identified problems, and come up with a sustainable approach in dealing with them and, more importantly, identified the opportunities that lie ahead of us with the upcoming changes in Rugby, it is important we stand behind them and support our team.
I am sure as we progress we will all find things we don't like, or don't approve of, but lets concentrate on the battles we can win, don't become a vocal stay away, the BOM seem more than open to hear from supporters, voice your concerns (where possible please base these on facts not some fantasy you have dreamt up) give them the opportunity to listen and then reciprocate and have the courtesy of listening to their response.
I believe as supporters we have to give the BOM the opportunity to succeed and the best way for that to happen is getting to the ground, watching our team, joining LISA, being part of the lottery (Which I have won twice in the last year, £5 each time), joining the Touchdown Club, going to the retail unit, wearing your Leigh polo's, shirts, tee shirts, hoody or coat at every opportunity(Not weddings or christenings), subscribing to LCTV... You don't have to do all of the above, but each little bit you can makes you a part of the success, it makes you a part because you are enabling it, nourishing it and BeLeighving it...'"
Great post.

| Even though I'm an avid wire fan I would like to say that I have a soft spot for the club. Every thing now seems to be in place for next season where the club looks like it can go places. Lets hope you can secure a place in super league and smash the pies.

| I was there when Mo was LISA head person and also when Sporting Club Leigh were formed and they presented themselves to us supporters with their ideas and ambitions. All of those guys struck me as passionate Leigh supporters who found themselves in a position to improve our club and team from what it had become. I felt they did as good a job as they could with some great results, if i remember correctly we were winning most games had great support and decent communication. I also remember some of the trials and tribulations that these businessmen went through to try and sustain the level us fans were used to from our team and club which i will never be able to thank them enough for. Now things have moved on quite a bit since those days although the exciting developments at our club with Andy, John, Neil and others gives me almost the same feeling of anticipation and excitement as i felt as SCL were formed. One difference is some of the people involved in SCL are still around and able to use their experiences in running our club to help/ guide offer advise to our new BOM . Feels mighty good to be a Centurions fan now, doesn't it ?

| Hi Steve
If you recall I was not a fan of the consortium and was in the other corner at the time but like most on here its the club we support
My concerns were about cash input not in the form of loans to sustain losses, if you are ever daft enough to put money into a sports club then its money you should never see again imo but you must commit those funds and share the burden
Our challenge will be keeping the spirit and knowledge we currently have in the years to come, after all we are just custodians trying to make the club the best it can be until we pass it on to better hands some day
Derek for example is far more handsome today than in 2004, he also claims to be wiser as well though.
Grip the seat and enjoy the ride it will be fun
Neil

| Neil/Maurice we haven't seen eye to eye on here over the years but I say this with all honesty, that what you, Andy, John, Derek and all the other BOM members are doing for this club is something that I could never envisage myself ever undertaking. You have all got my utmost admiration and it makes my day reading all the positive vibes coming from the posts on here.
Come On You Leigh.

Neil if wisdom were attached to BMI then Derek would be considerably wiser (sorry D couldn't resist), and Neil you and I are both passionate about our club and as you more than likely remember haven't seen things in the same way , I am delighted you decided to as it were "put your head on the block" and step forward and see for yourself what's possible and long may it continue.

Oh, oh, let me please.
Well it all began when the club dropped mike Nolan as chairman and went with an ameture board set up. Then the sacking of Paul Terzis prior to a grand final. Appointing Darren Abram as head coach. Signing Luke Issaka on a super league contract, then paying him off. Grand final win, whey hey, finally in the promised land (but frankb could have got promotion that season). Very poor signings and the inevitable 60 point drubbings. Signing a player and paying a substantial transfer fee without realising he had a court case pending for assault (soon to be spending time behind bars) Appointing the "highest qualified coach in world rugby". Relegation. Staying full time in a semi pro league. paying stupid wages to journey men who liked a drink. Going on a p-up to lloret de mar for pre season training. Not reacting quickly enough when we realised the coach was inept. Announcing the signing of three kiwis who were playing in France, only to back track when we realised they didn't qualify for work permits. Northern rail cup win, hoorah (thanks for helping out mr millward). Sack the coach and appoint an equally inept coach who proclaims "we are going to play like St Helens). We sign Chris Giles!!!! Announce we have signed a deal to move to a state of the art stadium. Consortium finally cut their losses and announce a white knight is taking over. Welcome mr Thomas. Announce that Allan Rowley is to take over as CEO. Nilled at home to Widnes in a massive drubbing. Allan Rowley alienates major sponsors of the club. Club sack the inept coach and appoint a new coach who has been coaching Rugby Union for a couple of years and has serious health issues. The club moves into one of the best facilities in rugby league. Allan Rowley alienates the club with the rfl, no favours from them from now on while Rowleys behind the scenes. Club narrowly avoid relegation before their biggest crowd of the season. Ian millward appointed new coach. Chairman starts to open the purse strings and spend big. Another cup win in Blackpool. Chairmans business goes bust and he has to pull out of the club taking Allan Rowley & millward with him. Paul Rowley appointed coach. Club on the verge of going out of business. Fans and local business men rally around to save the club. Financially cutting back on all aspects of the club. Crowds start to fall and despite the cutbacks the club is still losing money. Failing community department finally replaced with one that is focussed on increasing crowds and engaging with the local public rather than winning awards. Club announce they would never enter a twinning agreement with Wigan and then enter an agreement with Wigan to Dual register players and use medical facilities. New board of management step in to help fund the club and move it forward, with the ultimate goal of returning and staying in super league. We win our trophy back again. New optimism around the club again.
That's basically the roller coaster ride.

You have a good memory
The past has gone lets put it behind us, its evident Steve is taking the positivity towards the New BOM in a slightly negative way as if its some kind of dig at the past but its far from it. Anyone who's stepped up to the plate giving up time and money to the cause deserves respect and its not easy I can assure you.
I've loads of time for Steve and so have other members of the BOM and I know he wants to see a strong Leigh Centurions and has some great ideas on how to increase fan base etc.
Lets put the past to bed and move on.
Future is bright if we all pull together.
Andy

| Whatever it is the new BOM are doing, I for one am glad they are. I went to all the home and away games in the 80's but then stopped going I still bought a replica shirt every year and said I supported Leigh to everyone but in reality I only went to a few games a year and think I got fed up of the highs and lows (mainly low's) and the numerous false promises.
Whilst it's early days yet there's a new buzz around the club and the new BOM seem far more open and are driving the club "yes, FULL STEAM AHEAD" to a brighter future. The chats in Legends bar, LCtv, etc are all steps in the right direction, but there is ONE main reason that Im back at the club full time so to speak...........I now feel "part" of the club again and not just someone who paid money to watch them. Keep up the momentum please,

Thanks for proving my point not a single mention of actually operating as a business in all that ' history '
If you want individual answers to some of the ' issues ' in your post , no problem , however if you want to know why mr Nolan was ' dropped ' I'll happily PM you with the reason why

Mr Nolan , Pm you if you genuinely want to know
So an amatuer board ? explain a proffessional board
Paul was sacked because after playing salford 5 times , and each time getting a worse result he was a beaten man
Ask those who appointed Darren
Ask Darren ?

Yes we won the GF , and I agree frankb could have won promotion that year
So who should we have signed ? , maybe my idea of accepting we were going to be relegated and looked at a 2 year plan of bringing in some young ambitious juniors to bounce us back ? , but no DA decided who we got , so blame him
We advertised the post , do you know who applied ? , and what they wanted as regards money , retention of contracted players ? , what their coaching CV consisted of ?

A RL player who likes a drink ? , never , so again who exactly would you have signed who was available ?
