It doesn't name their side in full, but their only regular 1st teamer who's playing is Ian Thornley, Sam Hopkins playing also.....Leigh win by 16.
Wigan Warriors are set to give debuts this Sunday to new signings Dan Sarginson, John Bateman and Sam Hopkins in their first pre-season run out of 2014 against Leigh Centurions at LSV, 3pm kick off.
Sarginson joined Wigan from London in the close season while John Bateman is another of the Club's new faces this year arriving from Bradford Bulls. Sam Hopkins meanwhile heads straight back to Leigh having made the short move across the borough and is the third new face in the squad.
Wigan also include a host of players with First Team experience in Anthony Gelling, Iain Thornley,
Sam Powell, Dom Crosby, Logan Tomkins and Greg Burke.
Youngsters Ryan Hampshire, Dom Manfredi, Joe Burgess and George Williams will also get a run out in the fixture.

That has the makings if the strong side we have been promised.
I think that announcement will get a few more over from Wigan now to see their new signings.
I was also told from a reliable source last night they are bringing Pettybourne.

| This is NOT a dig at you Andy, in anyway shape or form.
We haven't actually seen the full squad yet, but weeks ago Wigan said they were sending "their 1st team/strong side" Technically they are 1st team players, was hoping for 4 or 5 of their star players though... good grief Anthony Gelling is the star man out of that lot !

Understood mate.
To me the squad that's coming is a first team and other than the Bowen they are showcasing all the pre season signings.
It's a very strong squad they have and let's not forget the household names like Sam, Harrison H, Pat Richards have all left them
I believe Charnley is also injured.
I think the squad that's coming makes for a really exciting game and they are all fist grade unlike previous years. Indeed the 19s squad are away at present.

The U19's are back - And some are playing.
Bowen, Charnley, Goudling, Green, Smith, Taylor, McIlorum, Pettybourne, Farrell, Clubb, O'Loughlin etc - Basically the starting 13 aren't playing.
It's not a warm up for the WCC in anyway shape or form, just the run of the mill run-out to shake cobwebs off.
I understand this game could be your biggest earner of the year but you've placed more value on the game than it's worth, of which most Wiganers have recognised. So I like many others will give my money to Wigan TV instead.

An armchair supporter heading to Sydney next month to watch us play the Roosters. The match ticket costs less than Sunday's game.
I'm sure you now understand why I refuse to pay over the value - And why I'd prefer to save the money.

| You can all see the Wiganer's point surely?
How many of us would willingly travel and pay £16 to watch our U21's in action away ,all aware we will have not one player from our first choice starting line up in the squad for the match?
Not many of us that's for sure.

It's a fringe squad - And that includes the new signings.
The match tickets are over-priced in my opinion as well as many others and this will have an affect on the following that Wigan will bring, regardless of what you say.
The Leigh owner/director(s) either know it's over-priced and are using the game for maximum possible gain (Don't blame them) or they can either keep trying to justify the prices despite having made a mistake.
My comments are constructive criticism to a club I want to see do well.

| Just looked at this year Wigans first team squad and these lads played against us last year and are now their first team and most played regular last season:_
Gelling
Thornley
Hughes
Logan Tompkins
Dom Crosby
Liam Farrell
Scott Taylor
Sam Powell
Dom Manfredi
I ve missed a couple off too.
These are playing first elsewhere (leigh)
Tom Spencer
Joe BUllock
Wigan have lost several players this season and their first team is full of new comers and youth players that have been moved up.
They never played Tompkins in preseason friendlies anyway and Charmley is injured so he couldnt play.
Im looking forward to it anyway and Friday, as Im assured Salford ARE DEFFO bringing their first team.
Where else could you get a decent night/day out for under £20 these days ?

Was there any need for that? No Really?
I was only stating my opinion that £16 to watch our U21's would put a lot of folk off.
Can I just say that I already have my ST purchased for this year , even though my health will dictate I will not be able to get to every match this year. I am pretty sure I have handed over more money in my lifetime to Leigh RLFC than you will have done. Last year I missed a mere handful of our matches regardless where we was playing
I continue to support the club both vocally and financially, pushing the club to everyone that I pass and from cradle to grave I will have Leigh RLFC running right through my blood until I draw my last breath.
I do not know who you are but thank you for telling me I am no longer welcome.
For your information I am extremely excited about the new dawn on the horizon.

| As a fan then why try to put others off coming? Just don't post and don't come. I was always told the past is gone, learn from it and the future is all that matters
I cannot understand the motivation of a 'fan' doing what you did, and it's £14 for adults but as I also don't know you I assumed from previous post you could access via concession rates
I am taking a couple of kids with me and its cost me £18 for all of us, that is fantastically cheap imo
If I could understand your motivation I would apologise but it seems purely destructive for our club which was on the brink a few months ago, I even pictured you in a boozer gobbing off at folk with stuff like "I don't know why your bothering £16 to watch "etc
If you are really a passionate fan then think before posting at this delicate time, mine is I couldn't take em to KFC for £18

| I think some people are forgetting that weeks ago Lennegan and Wane both said that they would be sending to Leigh a quality side, and on that basis Leigh priced the tickets accordingly and booked the stadium for a good expecting good numbers would be coming, the stadium company then had to budget for that and pre order stewards etc who were then contracted for the game so to try and put down the price at aany stage after would mean that Leigh would still have to foot any costs as they still will have to, now a cynic would say that this is the third time Wigan have done this (if they actually have me, not seeing this years squad they are sending) so do we believe that Leigh have been naive, duped or what? or that the words of the GBRL Champions and cup holders are worthless? TBH without seeing what side Wigan turn out those question can't be answered until after the kick off.
I'm still sure that (a good cup draw at home not withstanding) the game will have a healthy attendance and be possibly our best attendance of the season.
I can understand people frustration at people posting why they are not attending as is it not the curse of social media in the 'noughties' people feel that everyone is entitled to their opinion or should that be everyone is entitled to my opinion? Just a statement or a question no offence meant.
I saw that statement (EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO MY OPINION) on a recent TV show from the Australia equivalent of speakers corner in Sydney and thought it quite funny and apt for these times re social media.

| never know how people can tell clubs that there pricing is wrong with out actually knowing why how its priced. If you like watching rugby and want to watch a good game with new players in both sides you will pay 14-18quid its less than most people spend in bookie or the pub on the weekend.
You have to ask your self where does rugby come into priorities of leisure? if its at the bottom don't come on rugby league boards complaining and telling people your not going because its to expensive i am sure people will sleep just as well at night if they don't know your going.
20quid in this day is nothing, spend more than that just going to trafford and walking around.

You don't need to highlight the word 'fan' to me,
I have in no way attempted to put people off so i don't know why you are being so aggressive toward's me.
I was only trying to analyse why so many W*igan fans in numbers are suggesting they are not interested in attending this match in the approach that Mr Chairman has suggested we do on another thread
(It's been duly noted you are not making the same accusation to Keith for making very the exact same point !)
Perhaps you can give us your reasoned thought out analytical input (minus the aggressive nature) for that and perhaps like me you will come to the conclusion that the price point is not offering value for money to w*gan supporters - Unfortunately this is not the fault of Andy, Derek or anyone associated with Leigh RLFC
Obviously it is still a very much an attractive fixture against the old enemy to me and every Leyther and an opporrtunity to take a look at our new look side. Well worth £16 and yes a bargain to me at £8, quite correct.
My family also think so who are hoping to attend with me. I hope I can shake off this blasted cold in time.
I will just add I bet the new BOD are happy at your attempts to tell loyal supporters their money is no longer welcome at the club.
If I do attend I will ask out for you in an attempt to educate you and to help you to understand how my passion and enthusiasm for Leigh RLFC is still as rife as its ever been. I can tell you some good old stories about the day Jimmy Ledgard came to my house as well as few good old tales about Joe Walsh. It will be worth it
