Exactly- so why not just wait...... If it was greed as suggested above (and no one on here has accused him of that before) It doesn't make sense to me as he could actually find himself In a worse situation-. So that suggests there's more to it. There's something not quite right behind the scenes.

I also think Beaumont is being disastrously pig headed in not getting the club some cash. Instead brierley gets paid for doing naff all!

Possibly because there are a lack of half backs out there at the minute,and injuries are evident.His chance for SL is better now than it will be 10 weeks down the line.Whether or not other clubs want to take him on given the way this has unfolded and still a disciplinary to contend with I'm not sure what he has planned.Could be a holiday in Canada who knows.

Perhaps they wouldn't take him on now- but they can take him on in November- for free regardless.

if he's wanted now he will surely be wanted for the business end.
If Beaumont has any sense he will put him on the transfer list and take the cash now... He won't get anything else out if this situation otherwise. Take the money offered and wave bye bye.
Seems odd to me that one of your "star players" that fans have idolised has made himself a baddy- ok it may be about money, it may be he thinks his career is being held back- I can go for that. Wouldn't be the first time a player has acted like a primadonna - BUT your most successful coach in recent times has also left under odd circumstances- I just don't get why someone in his situation would go for no apparent reason. I'm presuming you mean his agent? The same agent who has about 70 RL players on his books such as Luke gale, Ben Currie, Liam sutcliffe, Greg Eden, Stevan ratchford, Danny Maguire- yeah there's been a right soap opera around those players- I don't buy that one.

Regardless of agent involvement. Name any player whose precise contract details have got in the press month in month out for the last 12 months or so. All the players you named there are SL or NRL and he is not bold enough to dick around those clubs. He clearly needs Ryan minus a contract to earn a big wedge for himself and Ryan.

What do you make of the report that on GMR Ryan supposedly said he had not put his notice in. Yet 'his' Saturday statement said he had I think.

If it was me I think I'd just be glad to see the back of him after the speculation of the last 12 months but with the other injuries it is really putting a strain on your squad. Hopefully you'll come out of it and finish one place below us in the top 4.

Bought my tickets for the game from Leigh today - in the East Stand. The tickets are numbered 0008 and 0009. I hope that isn't indicative of the level of Leigh support, or how heavily outnumbered I may be, in the 'posh' seats!



Seriously though, we've always enjoyed sitting in the East stand, with 'Fax fans - it's an excellent afternoon out - whoever is getting tonked!

I hope Ryan stays at Leigh till the end of his playing days. I think his agent is daft.

I don't, not anymore.. The Ryan Brierley side show has been a disruptive influence for the past couple of years. All the talk has been is he staying, is he going? My thoughts have always been is he any good , as good as some allude? We have better half backs at the club IMO. I think Ridyard / Reynolds will be as good as any half back combination in this division.Paterson is some unit to fill in at 6 as well. He bossed it against Bradford despite not being match fit. We all know Chase oozes class , when we can get him back on the field.

Ryan does however posses speed and some will say speed is everything and maybe you should find a place in your team for pace but not a half back for me.

Look Ryan , his agent or both tried it on IMO.They thought Leigh's current halfback crisis would give them leverage to negotiate a little extra. They got their fingers burnt and Ryans Leigh career is finished.

I think deep down Ryan never really wanted to leave Leigh this season. Thats the saddest part.

Well said Harold, I would be delighted if Ryan finished this season at Leigh, but 'burnt bridges' and all that. So we & Ryan move on, curious where he'll end up, just hope it's not a club we might play in the 'middle 8's' this season, that's assuming we qualify !

Obviously Ryan and his agent have discussed something,but that should be confidential between them both,so why has is agent said anything to Brett Ferres unless he is trying to instigate something.No reason to say anything otherwise.

It had just been in the news that Leigh had turned down two offers for Ryan- it's also known that he's OOC at the end of the season. Of course they have suggested they are interested!!!! conversations between agents and coaches happen all the time- I'm sure Leigh have had similar - perhaps even with this particular agent given his portfolio!
Don't be naive to think it isn't common practice!

You seem very protective of the agent in question? Do you share a scoop (or a glass of wine)with him?

....and the agents then use the content of these discussions to advise their clients accordingly, sometimes badly, sometimes with a plan of action on how to get out of a contract so no fee is payable. Clubs possibly offer more pay to players and agents if no transfer fee is involved.

I'm hoping to get down buT as I'm just recuperating from an operation it may be too early, if I do I think I'll have to sit in the East stand for a change. Sat ther a couple of times and the steepness of the stand dies give a good view, hope it's a good game either way but we really need to take the points.

In all truth, we always have a good day out at the Shay - although some of the results could have been better. It's a great venue for RL, and we always have a decent conversation with the locals.

while I still think Ryan has been a powerful force for Leigh & poses a constant threat to opposition teams, he is not an 'orthodox' or 'classic' 7, more a 'free agent' (pardon the pun) on the field.

I truly believe & have said it on our pages until I am blue in the face that Ben Reynolds has the [ipotential[/i to become one of our finest signings ever & possibly a future International, such is my high regard of his talent.
Of course it remains to be seen if he achieves his full potential & how long it takes to come to fruition, but he has ability in spades & could be twice the player RB could ever become.

FWIW I see Ben as our future 6, learning the ropes alongside Riddy at 7 initially while being spelled at stand off.

I don't think we will get another game out of Rangi Chase, I might be hopelessly wrong *& I hope so* but his Leigh/English RL career & possibly his entire RL career could be finished. I sincerely hope not.

I disagree. I would like to think that whatever Rangi's current issue is, be it flu, injury or *other* that the club will support him as much as they can until he is ready to return.

I know there are rumours he has been sacked but if he had it would be out by now and the reason would be known. ONE reason would be known, not a dozen different guesses and stories depending on which pub you happen to drink in. It isn't like the club has a good record at the minute for keeping anything a secret for long!

Hopefully Rangi will be back and winning us games again before too long.
