Dick that's total bullcox. They don't do the hard work, they go where the money takes them - they don't target schools with more money who have the spare cash to pay for the entertainment. My two saw them once between them, Wigan were in every year - often sent them to JJB with Leyth shirts on, giving them clear instructions, if asked, to explain that if the Humbles played in our garden we'd draw the curtains.
How many times have they hit Leigh RUFC junior section ? More parents watch Leigh there than East or Miners IMO.
Community needs direction, the club must do the selling on the back of it. The community aren't salespeople.

Otherwise known as our target market - or at least they would be if we had a clue about marketing!

Irrelevant when season ticket sales & Touchdown memberships were scuppered by Trevor moving our games to Friday nights & thus creating choice.

Not sure why this matters but I guess Leigh's? But it’s not exactly a shock that there's a Sky game on Friday nights.

No - but if you didn't have a season ticket or Touchdown membership you might not be tempted by Leigh v York with Wire v Saints on tv - thus once again raising the issue of getting the "floating" fans through the gate

Those who are current supporters will do everything they can to watch whenever finances, shift patterns, other commitments allow, I just cant see your average Joe (Mo’s already bringing every Bob ) parting with about £15 to watch Leigh v York (no disrespect to them as it could probably be anyone), when he can watch Wire v Saints in the <Insert any pub you want> and have a few pints and possibly spend less.
For the record I hope I’m wrong and LSV is packed to the rafters, as you say only time will tell.

It's not TV that's dictating when we play on a Friday. We have to avoid all Wigan/Wire/Saints derbies and I think a Leigh game would win out over anything else.'"
We need to work hard at it and even if Friday is deemed a success keep working hard at it to build on it.
Using your good self as a example (in that you don't like football), what we are in a way asking is how could I get you to come to Gigg Lane on a Friday evening to watch Bury play Wycombe Wanderers when Manchester United v Manchester City are live on TV in the pub.
Maybe as a first time fan of football , what would tempt you away from your home or a bar watching high class football entertainment to watch a match that will likely be less skilful - and thats the very hard sell Leigh have.
I won't open the Friday debate up but will say IMO its a non young family KO time, so in effect we have to target certain groups and maybe instead of familes and suchlike (as per sunday Ko's) concentrate on 2 mates for £25.00 , Pint and a ticket , two 11 to 16 year olds in for a Fiver etc- a different audience altogether from 3PM Sunday, go horses for courses.
The danger of us not having a steady kick off day was highlighted for me when my lad who was just getting used to being a new Leigh fan and just getting into it asked why we have stopped going to the rugby, I explained what was happening (TV games and now fixture day changes etc) and he's asked can we go and watch another team if we can't watch Leigh, Leighs loss could possibly be another clubs long term gain ?.
Just shows how hard it is to get it right and the task ahead of the club.
Still say 6.15pm Saturday is the main one that will please more than it upsets

See Jenky's reply. Your average joe isn't a Leigh Centurions fan, he doesn't currently support anyone, but likes watching RL games on TV. How do we get him away from the TV and down to LSV?

You can give out all the free kids tickets you want, tge parents will NOT then pay money to bring their kids, end of argument
The community dept are just another way of communication, maybe somebody should ask them what they need to get people into the stadium?
No disrespect, but I probably know more about conservatory roofs than you, you no doubt know more about logistics than me, and I have no doubt that the community trust staff know more about building interest in a club with kids than either of us
Normal marketing doesnt always work in sport, it needs a totally different approach, it is a special kind of brand loyalty

No disrespect but getting people to buy into sports entertainment will not be achieved by a community department in schools dishing free tickets out to kids who if they even take them out of their bags at home have parents who are not motivated to buy into the offer.
We need a clear vision of where we want to be and how we intend to get there. This needs to be ambitious and ignite the interest of the dormant fanbase, to motivate them to become part of the vision.
Once we have a clear and communicated vision (mission statement) we embark on getting buy in via the low hanging fruit initially, graduating through different trenches until we create such a wave that people are asking to come onboard, or peer pressure drives the snowball.
At present we play in a league that goes nowhere and we have communicated no ambition to change that. If there is any marketeer able to have a significant impact on gates operating within those confines then that person is a genius.
Look at Fev this year, they have made a statement of intent regarding their SL ambitions, they have sold this to their fan base and achieved 'record' season ticket take up and a fantastic gate v ourselves for a Thurs night tv game in a small ex pit village.
We stand still and die or we throw the dart and enjoy the ride.
