| We have an excellent squad of young players, most of whom are clearly destined for SL stardom. I hope most of them will reach that with Leigh, but it's inevitable that they will attract the attention of current SL teams, and some will be tempted to leave. If they do, I wish them well. I have faith in the current BoM to have them tied into contracts that will at least see the club get recompense, unlike in the past.

| Can someone please clarify what going full time means to a player? hours during day, training etc. Its something that confuses me ( doesn't take alot ) surely they can only train for so long in a day?

| I seem to remember it being explained at a LISA meeting as more about recovery time from a game or injury, Part time don't really have the option of proper controlled recovery as most are back to work at the start of the week, that plus a more structured (possibly the wrong word) training/fitness plan.

It means that they don't have to train after maybe 40 hours work at another job. It can't be easy coming home from work and then having to do the hard hours at Leigh.

| Quote ="FredParky"The interview from a few weeks ago on LC TV says it all, I spoke with Kes again on Saturday and without any prompting his words were 'Im a Leigh Player and happy to be one, the interview in the Manchester Evening news was not written in it's entirety and some of the so called quotes were taken out of context'.
So there you go straight from the 'horses mouth' no rumour or conjecture straight talking from Ryan Brierley.
If his head had been 'turned' then why was he the last player to leave the playing area AGAIN last Sunday, as for 'being out of sorts' he is playing a different game the last couple of matches and in doing so has become more of a try assister/maker than a try scorer, which after all at pivot is his main job, (again not my words but from a very respected Coach).'"
Can't retweet this so decided to quote instead

| Usually they have a morning session consisting of re-hab, recovery or weights session followed by lunch prepared to a menu selected by a sports nutritionist. Afternoon session would consist of drills, ball work, prep for the coming game or video sessions then home for 3.00pm or they could cram it all in from early morning starting with breakfast and finishing after they have had lunch. All depends on the coaching timetable.

I'd wonder why Salford bothered to sign him in the first place. If I were a Salford fan I'd be even more perplexed.

In order to beat off competition from other Super League clubs for his signature. Leigh receive a transfer fee, Ryan gets a payrise and a dream move in one but remains with the Centurions for another two years to aid his development and help the club reach Super League.
Lets make it happen Andy Mazey.

| Let's not. We don't want Ryan to play for us as a Salford player, we want him as a Leigh player. If he wants to sign for Salford we should thank him for his services to Leigh and move on.
I speak as someone who absolutely loves Ryan and everything he stands for as a player and a man but I wouldn't want him to play for us if he belonged to another club.

In todays world of FT professional player is not all about specific sports training, although the aim is obviously to improve the players/teams performance on the field, there's lots of other factors that effect it than simply running around with the ball, state of mind as well as body will improve performance.
As others have said they'll have rehab, physio, swimming, gym, biking, general player welfare nutrition, and education. team building sessions, community sessions. media training, match analysis of team, own and upcoming opponents performances, game plans, no doubt we do most if not all of this now but when FT more time can be spent on each.
Start around 9 and usually finish around 2:30.
In other words they do naff all.

How would Brierley feel in 2 years when Leigh replace Salford in Super League?
Seriously though no one really gets anything out of that deal. Leigh could sell him for a lot more as he gets even better in 2 years, Ryan could probably negotiate a better deal for himself with 2 years of improvement, an even bigger club may come in for him in the meantime and Salford have bought a player they can't use. We don't really know what level Leigh, Salford or Brierley will be at in 2 years’ time (we can have a guess but still) so why tie himself down?

| Personally I think they will (Salford ) not get relegated and they will have a much better team next season, cant see them ever competing with the likes of Wigan , Wire, Saints, Leeds and Hudds though, as I cant see them attracting the best players with the crowds they get etc

I think the difference between Leigh and Salford proves why it will take time for Salford to challenge at the top level. Leigh have a team that have lots of good players who play for each other, and the team benefits as a result. Salford on the other hand have the opposite. It may be a cliche but you can't buy certain things, team spirit is one of them. That ingredient itself is worth more than any superstar in a team.

Team spirit isn’t the issue at Salford, not since Harris has taken over. The players look more committed than ever. Our problem this season has been we look like a team that made 12 new signings for 2014, defensively they don’t look unified and in attack at times we have look confused. Harris had a job on his hands rectifying this, but in all fairness we’ve been improving week on week.
For all the talk of mercenaries etc the lack of effort from the Salford players hasn’t been questioned once by our supporters, it’s just the application which has been disjointed.
We’ve made four signings only for next season (stark difference to last year), I can see another two happening so the nucleus of the squad will remain and in 2015 we should see some consistency in our performances.
