If I may say so, I think you're doing Derek a bit of disservice. He is a very successful business man.
But definitely Sundecks and Rugby are different kinds of operation.
Marwan seems to have learned enough to,change his behaviour and Salford are benefitting.
Derek has the knowledge and skills to do the same...(we hope...)

Dereks not a lifelong Leigh fan for starters! Neither him or any of his brothers had any interest in the rugby up to the season 2004 season, ive know em since primary school so lets not get taken in by that crap.

I think what comes next will tell us a lot about how things with the BOD will work out.

Since they took over part way through 2013 when the club was in dire straits it has been pretty much a non stop success story until the middle 8's last year.

2013 we won the NRC again and did ok in the league.

2014 we won the league, had a great cup run, walked the playoffs and won the Grand Final.

2015 we won the league by 6 points, another great cup run, all was well.

Crowds are up massively, sponsorship, merchandise, community work all improved. We moved to Full Time again.

It had all been up and up until that point.

Since then the 8's were a flop, Rowley has left, we've had loads injuries and all sorts of problems to various players. Endless speculation and rumours and now the latest with the Brierley situation.

It is the 1st real bit of adversity we've encountered and if we can turn it around and make the season a success despite it all then it shows what we are made of. If things continue to be in turmoil then we will have to reassess our strategy and maybe go about things in a different way.

We have improved out of sight from what we were when DB and the new BOD took over. A bit of adversity and everyone is baying for blood and falling out. Give them time to sort it, I am confident that we will come through this and continue to build on and off the pitch. It was never going to be plain sailing for ever, lets see how we deal with this current troubled patch before throwing the towel in.

Wealthy, lifelong supporters, willing to invest in the club, run it, take the rough and smooth, be media savvy etc. Etc....
You mind find suitably qualified people a bit thin on the ground.

Admittedly, they have improved the team and we've had some exciting games but in the real world, we've won nothing. A couple of mickey mouse titles and cups. Only if we get into SL and win real trophies can we call ourselves successful. That is a very long way off and seems unattainable with the current state of affairs.

Spot on but I think DB makes Koukash look professional. DB obviously has some money but he isn't the man to take Leigh into SL. I can only see a disappointing end to his tenure of Leigh RLFC.

Good interview with Derek on radio Manchester after the game setting a few things straight. Odd isn't it how when he says things in his own words there's nothing wrong, only when his comments get taken out of context by some website looking for clicks is there a commotion. I'm not too worried about any sort of behind the scenes massive turmoil so far it's all mostly rumours. We've got Derek's side of the story but nothing from the other side, Paul has only made some generic comments about honour & principles while Ryan has just said "I wish the fans knew" neither actually saying anything, if it was something major and serious we'd probably know by now. Instead all we have is some general rumours of something being a bit not right with a man people love to hate for some unknown reason, posted in the echo chamber of the internet. Hardly a journalistic expose.

Derek also invited Ryan and his agent to meet him and even said he'd invite Rowls as well as clearly the comments both Ryan and Rowls have made when leaving (in effect saying nothing but insinuating something is untoward) has really annoyed him and could be damaging to the club (witness the numerous theory's posted on this site and you can understand why).

For me though whilst I can understand Dereks annoyance we now need to move forward focussing on players who want to be here and a coach that wants to coach here, Rowley and Brierley was good whilst it lasted but its not worth wasting energy on them now, I'm sure Derek will ensure he gets compensated for Brierley should he go to Huddersfield (the only club to contact the club via official channels)but that aside I think its best the club now focussed on those players and staff committed to the club.

My take to any anti-Leigh fan, or any anti - DB , Is.

Stay away from the club and don't bother going to any games if that's how you feel.

And come back when you are ready to believe and support what Leyths goals and aspirations are.

as an outsider looking in , with a passing in interest ( due to the interest in Brierley from my club) i can't help but feel that this could end in tears for the leythers!
i hope for the many spot on Leigh fans it doesn't.

Unfortunately I don't think we will now get a single penny for Ryan Brierley, that ship has sailed, should his *4 weeks notice contract* be entirely enforceable then he will now go free to the club which bids highest for his salary or Salford (who we know he supports).

Whoever proof read his contract & O.K'd it should be boiled in a vat of P!$$ for making such a monumental b@lls up.

However, my silver lining in all this turmoil & quite frankly unprecedented injury list situation is that we are now forced to bring back Ben Reynolds, who for me [icould[/i be a future international & one our best signings since Chris Hill/Ryan Brierley/Mickey Higham/Greg McNally .....
or even better.

Only time will tell I suppose.

I just hope the situation is sorted, and soon. Ryan wont play for us again, its a sad end to a great leigh career. However i'm not bothered about him, i'm bothered about the players who want to play for us, and ensuring our club is successful.

the comments by the lads and people from the club on Twitter don't look like the comments of people who want to leave. The more I see this the more i think it was Ryan who has been unsettled by rowley and now is chasing the money! The team spirit on show yesterday was quality! We didmt miss Ryan one bit charnock slotted in nicely and riddy to step up like that was a unreal show of commitment! We have gaz hock at our club who doesn't care about coming out and saying what's what! If there was a problem at Leigh hock would of told us by now! Big win yesterday and it's time to say goodbye to the dead wood and move on! Leigh centurions is a big club and will never ever miss one player or coach

great effort by the lads yesterday .To lose Lee Smith just before the kick off was a major blow .Thought Riddy was superb and its obvious Higham is playing despite carrying a leg injury.Thought our forwards ran some great lines and when we get back up to having a full squad some team is going to get a right hammering

We'll be reet, these events couldn't have been planned for and the timing is shocking. Some sheeite needs sorting sooner rather than later, we will get players back who want to be here and let the rest rot (hopefully without pay) and bring in a couple to cover the gaps in the backline.

Still fancy us for SL 2017, probably even more so now
