As a Leigh fan im embarrassed and it goes to show there is no place in the top tier for such pathetic club management.

Reece Blayney, Nathan Di Bartello, Joey Williams and now Mark Castle all announced as being Leigh Centurions players by Leigh Centurions and not one single apperence between the lot of them! We'll have enough for an entire team soon!

Fair enough Joey maybe here soon and the club can do nothing about the visa but the way his 'signing' was handled was amaturish to say the least!

It wasn't done by the club management, Andy P jumped the gun a bit and quite rightly put in a retraction (On there now) It was a simple mistake, no big deal and as far as I can see no blame on the club.
I don't really see what more Andy can do...I suppose we could put him in the stocks and publicly flog him for such an outrage!!

Fair enough it wasn't posted by the club but Andy must have been told this by the club and given the inforamtion so why do this if he has not signed??

Had Joey Williams not allegedly denied he was coming to England to the press in Australia no one would have cared and it would have been announced as it should have been. Nothing amateurish from the club re:Williams.

Players are flying around the Championship sides but still none in our direction however

Wasn't it announced we were simply waiting for visa clearance..no problem there. We would have heard nothing more until his visa was granted or denied. What I was trying to point out was unnecessary attention was drawn to this signing due to a press report involving the player himself and not the club. Maybe I was at fault for first drawing peoples attention to this press report in a small local newspaper, but if I hadn't someone else would have done.

Nothing wrong with posting something already in the public domain.

Regarding Andy,s post on the official site he did it in good faith and he,s apologised end of as far as I can see.

It would have come out anyway Demon! If you don't want to include the Williams debacle then fine don't, personally I thought it was extremeley embarrassing for the club!

If your happy with the clubs current transfer policy of announcing signing who don't turn up for months if at all then that's fine! If your also happy that half way through the season we also have no recognised first team stand off then that's fine aswell! Personally I am not!

That's not what I'm talking about! I'm talking about the "I've never even heard of Leigh" report! The clubs name is being repeatedly dragged through the mud and to be honest I'm sick of trying to defend them to armchair fans who stay at home because of the negative news items they read!

Regarding todays issue if Andrew has made a genuine mistake then fine, we all make mistake and he shouldn't be chastised for it! I know the hard work and effort he puts in so apologies if my previous posts sounded like I was havin a go at him, that wasn't my intention!

As for announcing signings that don't arrive for months you don't have to look any further than alot of SL clubs with Greg Bird as a prime example and wasn't Croker another. So we are far from alone on that one. Indeed Barrow announced three and they never arrived

I can't understand why clubs announce these signings until visa clearence is given? Surely if they've signed a contract it could wait till visas have been granted?

Which the club responded to again, and there has been nothing mentioned since. The latest news is still that he is awaiting visa clearance, which was part of the original announcement. We have no idea on what led to the Williams story in the oz press, but you just assume the club are in the wrong, not the player and not the local rag involved.
