What's been bugging me & I am sure a few others is, why did DB & Jukesy not sit down with Ryan when the 2 offers came in from Hudd's Giants & say something like *look Ryan, be honest & open with us, do you want to sign for Giants, or another SL team* ??? *because if you do, we can help facilitate that move, because it let's us prepare for the future & at least the Club will get some compensation for letting you go*.

This is something like what I would have tried with Ryan, had I been his employer/boss.
Maybe this did happen, I just don't know, but it seems to me that the whole situation has been poorly managed &
in fact the whole season & several other issues appear to have been poorly managed also.

The fact that DB has a successful business does not necessarily mean that he possesses good man management or interpersonal skills, he might, but the question remains, why are so many important people jumping ship if all is rosey in the garden ?

In the same way that MarwanK CarCrash used to attract derision, DB is doing the same now at Leigh. MarwanK learned slowly to step back & employ suitable people to run the playing side & keep out of team affairs.
Yes as MD/Owner/CEO, have the final say on a potential signing if required, but concentrate on the business side.

Talking of the business side, how do our sponsors currently feel about the whole show & being linked to LCRLFC during a time of so much negative press.

The journo's at RL Express/Total RL must have cut holes in their pockets for quick & direct access to their fun sticks, as there is so much in the way of juicy material available to them.

The whole sorry situation needs to be dealt with swiftly & professionally for everyone's sake, Owner, Directors, Sponsors, Staff & Fans, or we could see all the good that has been achieved *Circa 4,000 average gates or near to* eroded & those less hardened fans walking away.

I still believe in LCRLFC & the potential to be a 'Big Club' or established SL Club *should we ever get there*, but without clear direction & a respected Skipper we might just sink, or at least be cut adrift for the foreseeable future.

I sincerely hope not.

Ive read Leigh's statement and Ive read Ryan's statement, one of them is lying. Given the lies that are been told to the fans over a number of players its pretty easy to work out which one it is. As Ste100 says though, DB has to try and protect his investment and he will do that any way he can. Some people fall lucky in business and hit a niche in the market and again like Ste100 says it doesn't always mean they are great businessmen. Compared to some businessmen I have had dealings with DB is far from class act and his people skills leave a lot to be desired and its starting to shine through in Leigh.

Don't you think Ryans statement is littered with "all the right words" including a mention of the RFL.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter who's lieing,rowls and ryan have walked out of the club that they've made money from and Derek is still here putting his money into,let's have it right tho according to media reports ryans been leaving for 12 months so the media are getting these vibes from somewhere because any other player that says the're going nowhere it's the end of the story but with Ryan it keeps coming back,so he's not been happy for a while or he just likes the attention and being in the limelight

I wonder who could be lying here? It Derek a man who's shown how committed he is to the club, has only acted in the club's interest & has given up so much of his money, time & effort. Or could it be Ryan a player who's always publicly said how much he loves Leigh & how committed he is to the club while at the same time leaking every detail of every approach & private detail in his contract to the press presumably to try to pressure the club into improving his contract, eventually threatening to leave & leaking it to Sky before anyone could try to solve the issues. "If only the fans knew what's going on." tell us then Ryan, or is it just another attempt to cover up your silly games now the club has got sick of them and called your bluff? I know who I believe & it's not the player who it seems has been lying to us for years.

I don,t know Derek or Ryan personally and I won't be forming any opinion of either of them in this situation from what I read on here but will see how things pan out. But for now my support is with DB as he is the one putting the money in. Having said that I bear no animosity to RB as with all the conflicting stories I will have to wait and see. Head buried in sand maybe but me worrying or getting stressed about the goings on will not change anything except possibly my health. The club is bigger than the individuals and I will support it until either it or I no longer exist. Come on you Leythers.

Excellent stance & viewpoint there EVVO, while not my feelings on the matter, a very commendable post.

Whatever our opinion of the owner or player, this mess (and any other 'mess' that may be lurking in the background) needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. Whoever is 'right' or 'wrong' in the dispute, doesn't really matter. What does matter, in my opinion, is that the name of our club, and almost certainly the product on the pitch, are being severely damaged by the current, frankly appalling publicity.

The solution to this has to be thrashed out, by the parties involved, getting together and talking it through. Whatever the eventual outcome, this process will have to happen - so, for my money the sooner the better! Yes, that will lead to people having to swallow their pride, admit they were wrong and then get down to what we (they) all want - a successful (and preferably happy, because that is a necessary ingredient) club.

At the end of the day, nobody - be they supporter, player, coach, director, or owner - is bigger than our club.

So, come on guys - I understand you all have high emotions about this - please get together and sort it, then we can all move on, hopefully upwards.

Also unlike the guy at Fev who was also involved at Cas and then Fax and seemingly had no real ties or affection to any of them. Derek is a life long Leigh fan and despite being in charge is still a passionate fan of the club with strong ties to the town of Leigh. Nowhere near as likely (or as easy!) to walk away as it was for Faisal. IMO anyway.

Naha didn't walk. Campbell got shut. It turned out that he never actually paid for his shares (or much of anything), so it was easy to get rid of him.

I don't doubt that that Degsy is a passionate fan, but his actions show that he's a pretty useless club owner.

Owning a club is about more than chucking money in. Any idiot with a few bob can do that.

The behind the scenes shenanigans that are going on demonstrate Degsy's failings as an owner. If even 10% of the rumours are true, I'd be worried if I was a fan.
