| There would have to be something very wrong with UK employment law, if you could make a player move to Hull.

| There appears to be something very deluded about Salford and their fans. They spent money that was tentatively offered but never received, the electronic advertising hoarding was going to make them rich, and a white knight was going to ride over the hill. Last night the club announced the sale was on, and the fans are still clinging to a deal being brokered before the sale starts in earnest.

both your points are applicable.i was only commenting on what i had seen in print prior to the vote maybe we do not have all the facts
does the vote point players in certain directions.i note wakies ex owner was one of a contingent who went to look into salford in what capacity is unknown.wakey have now let a player go back to oz
woud be plenty of snowy knihts in salford perhaps they could open more pizza shops and barbers to be major investors

Michael Carter former CEO was appointed as an independent consultant, brought into Salford by the RFL to investigate the current financial situation. He was well known for running Wakefield on a shoestring and was considered by many (except for Salford fans) to be a good man for the job. The announcement by Salford Red Devils yesterday shows things to be in a worse situation than anticipated from only a few weeks ago.
Rumours suggested that last years salary spend was £1.7M leading Salford fans to boast of the clubs financial acumen, able to run a top 4 team on the lowest budget. This is now shown to be total bs, and that after spending for the 2025 season, Esan Marsters, Chris Hill, et al, they are now at £2M and need to remove £800K, which is now £100K more than pre Christmas forecast.
Anybody feeling sorry for Salford Red Devils should listen to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez7KhbzU_GQ which allows an insiders view of how the club has been run for the last 5 years and the business model they have used. I am starting to feel sorry for the fans, who have been sold an absolute kipper.

Yes. Not sure why we didn't go for Shorrocks when he left Wigan.

Maybe Salford offered more, hence their situation now.

| Sneyd we need. He's the Salford crown jewel. He fills the gaping skills, organisational & goal kicking hole that we currently have in our likely starting 13.
Shorrocks I like but he for me would be the Brucie Bonus.

| I have seen a number of comments about Sneyd in recent days, some are not positive and mostly about his age.
If I am not mistaken he was in the 2024 Dream Team, he also twice won the Lance Todd, and in my opinion he was awesome in 2024 having to marshal the troops on his own after losing Brodie Croft to Leeds. His passing play was good, but his left boot is a thing of beauty. Deft touches, bouncing into the ground, lofting over the defence and an eye for 40-20. These are all aspects missing from the Leigh game at the moment.
I will be very disappointed if he is not wearing Jet2 on his kit this season.

| Offer accepted by Salford for Ormondroyd from Cas who are now seeking to agree personal terms with the player.
First player in the trolley then.
And so it begins.......

| It seems that Derek thinks that we can win the Challenge Cup this year. Why not? He thought so a couple of years ago and all our dreams came true. A lot of the players that brought home the jug then are no longer with us and we start anew - but we started anew that season too. It’ll prove harder this year as the freshers will have less months to gel (and more Rounds to negotiate). So some early (off-season - and we all know what that means) ramblings on the Cup from Bongser will follow.
For anyone that has been sleeping with their cranium up their crevice, Leigh Miners Rangers play from 12.30pm tomorrow (Saturday) in Oldham and Auntie is broadcasting it live on I-player and the Red Button. This pleasure will be denied Bongser as he will be working.
Come on LMR!
Also denied to this party will be the curiosity of following the 2pm kick-off between Mirfield and The Royal Navy as The Leopards potential third round opponents are whittled down from three to two. What a poodle’s picnic The RFL have made of this; icy weather in January is as good an excuse as the “Leaves on the track” in Autumn that did for SIR Bob Reid of British Rail back in the day. We’ve also seen one club forfeit a tie due to its “calendaring” breaching the RFL’s own rules concerning the health of amateur players. Where are the resignations? Thank Goodness the Beeb relegated the draw to I-player; marketing the game in this country is a task that’s hard enough (and seemingly beyond IMG) already, we don’t need the world to know what a pack of prannocks the governing body are!!
Anyway, speaking of marketing, Bongser hopes that the Navy prevail tomorrow and again against Worky in Round 2. The exotic nature of an early trip to a knee-deep quagmire in West Yorkshire or a freezing midden in Cumbria do not appeal. However, a jaunt to sun-drenched (hmmm) Pompey does.
Pipe dreams between three of us in The Egerton on Wednesday more than a little reliant on two other major factors:
Does Jet2 have any smaller ‘planes (Lear size but less fatal to celebs)?
Will there be any aircraft carriers docked in Portsmouth around the 8th of February?
All being positive, Degsy (fully regaled in his Leopard suit) should Jet2 it to Pompey, land on the ACC and be breeches buoyed to shore (full bosun’s pipe kerfuffle et al!) to where his pimped Lamborghini awaits. Press & TV in attendance.
…And boy there would be a few present should the jet take off from Barton Aerodrome with a mystery guest accompanying - full 2025 kit with an axeman’s hood covering his face (AND HAIR)!
Should Mirfield prevail tomorrow (or Worky down the line), this post will dissolve in a swirl of soft focus accompanied by glissandi on the harp!
As you can tell, Bongser is bored and cannot wait for the new season to start.

Salford fans believe there is a takeover planned for next week. If so it is hoped that Leigh have managed to procure Sneyd before any monies flood into the club.
Not sure what any consortium would want with Salford, except for a Super League franchise. They currently have no current assets (only debts and loans) and no fixed assets (shared stadium owned by Salford City Council). The only thing of value are the player contracts and the vote last week devalued the contracts by virtue of only a small number of buyers now being available. The fans hope that if they keep Sneyd they have a fighting chance, but the promotion and relegation spreadsheet system will see the club in the danger zone regardless.
Can Leigh prise the family jewels away from Salford before they shore up the defences? It shows how important a player Sneyd is, if the whole season pivots on one player.

That is what I have read too so that it is my understanding as well - it has also just been repeated in Total RL.
I think the proposal to be considered and/or approved is that at the meeting this week the clubs will agree to a further 2 week window for those clubs still with salary cap space - understood to be Wakefield, Castleford, Hull and Leigh - to reach agreement with Salford for the signing of Salford's players up to the value of their respective salary caps. At the end of the 2 week period the supermarket sweep starts in earnest with a salary cap dispensation to all clubs to sign the remaining Salford players until Salford reach their RL imposed spending limit based upon the salaries of the residue of their squad still remaining.
2 points.
Salford are saying that a modest offer from one of the 4 clubs currently with space on their spending cap has been made for one of their leading players. Don't know who but I bet it involves Sneyd and, if it is, then it is likely to be us or those lovely cheeky chappies from Kingston. The 'offer' is however considered by Salford to be derisory. Welcome to the big, bad and some would say unpleasant world of business and the principle of 'a buyers market'
Secondly, the busy little beavers that populate the Red Devils Fans Forum genuinely believe that there will be a takeover announcement made tomorrow, Monday. The logic is that the buy out will make all of the above irrelevant because the new funding will keep them afloat and enable them to waive a huge 2 fingers at RL, RL journalists, Salford City Council, supporters from all other clubs - except Keighley - Mother Theresa and Zebadee from the Magic Roundabout (by goodness do they hate him and blame the spring coiled one for everything that has befallen their great club).
The buy out will also crucially enable them to keep all their star players and to even add a few more (don't ask me where from) and to challenge Wigan and KR for honours at the top end of SL in the coming season and, basically, forever.
They are either privy to information that no one else has been able to glean or they are more delusional that a certain historical Austrian corporal.
let's see what tomorrow brings, or doesn't.

| I'm not worried in the slightest. We'll make the right move when it's available. Making a move just for the sake of it would likely be detrimental.

| I have it on very good authority that Salford had a media day planned for tomorrow but this has now been postponed with no new date given.
No club investment or take over has been announced today (so far) despite this being 'the day' identified by their CEO for it to happen.
SL club owners to meet tomorrow to set out plans for divvying-up the Salford squad.
I have it on nothing more than hearsay that Sneyd was seen at the LSV over last weekend - very revealing if at all true.
Clubs are saying Salford are not responding to offers made for their players.
I sense its all heads in the sand at Salford Central - the club not the train station - and a refusal by the club to accept the enormity of the crisis that is befalling them.
Unless there is a hugely positive announcement from them in the hours remaining tonight I fear that the extra days that they are seeking to get the take-over over the line will not be afforded to them and what increasingly appears to be nothing more than dilly-dallying rather than concrete take over talks will be brought abruptly to an end by decisions made by RL Commercial representatives who now effectively control Salford's purse strings.
The grains of sand appear to be fast running out for something positive to happen for Salford and to save them from their current predicament.
Money is the key and they still have not got any.

Salford have sent the following note to the media.
"Following discussion, to protect our players in the Club's current situation and ongoing investment negotiations, the Club and RL Commerical had decided to cancel any press attendance at tomorrow's media day."
So a media day without any media! Sounds very much like normal service at SRD

Well I’ve been a fan for far more years than I wish to remember and I never thought I’d see the likes of 1982 again or even close, but these last 2 seasons have been unreal, not just on the pitch but the fan growth, the academy granted, move to leopards an image and marketing masterstroke that the majority of us scoffed at
I’ll say that I did us a disservice by saying ok - but 6th then 4th is a pretty big step in a short period of time
Out of interest what would you expect us to achieve beyond where we are now

Well Degsey feels we can beat Wigan in the 1st game, & he believes we can win the C Cup; That's not to mention finishing in the top 4 & getting to Old Trafford. These are aspirations we should believe we can achieve, and I believe we can achieve them. Glass half full me Col.
