Last Fridays result was more a disappointment than a disaster! Before the match, I never truly believed we would progress to the Semi Final however, Leeds really were there for the taking and its no wonder Brian McDermott was nervous and had to resort to 'warning' the Referee to keep a tight rein on things after all, we are only a Pub Team

We knew before the game Kendall was totally incompetent, everyone knew Pete Matautia had to go there was nothing clever about that, its all the other interpretations he made that make him incompetent! before anyone mentions Dawson! Matty just used the wrong words! I think we all know what the right one were!
I'm delighted if DB has now pledged to continue to back the club because more than anything, he is fundamental to its prosperity! There have been times when he has embarrassed the Club and himself, he will know he has made mistakes along the way but, where would we be without his support ? Last season it was wonderful to once again see us competing with the games elite Teams and beating some of them handsomely, none more so than our 'friends' from across the Borough

It was brilliant to see our younger fans in particular enjoy beating those teams! We might not get there again this season but the long term future of the club is more important

I thought Gregson was signed as a second row, rather than a middle, as is Lovett. Seems KP likes to have someone on the bench that can come on as a 13, but cover second row or centre if needed, and Larroyer has got that gig.

Blagbrough may have not played for us yet, but posts on the workington forum suggest he's doing well for them, so question is whether a fully fit Blagbrough is better than a currently unfit Baldwinson? Whatever is going on with Patrick needs sorting out, on ability alone he would easily get into our best 17.

Given the minutes Hood is doing, he could find himself doing a stint at 13 during games, while Mortimer or Higham are on.

Come on, Derek does have a young family you know who also deserves his time and he had taken them all away on a long cruise, booked before the season had even kicked off. Nothing more than that. It's actually a blessing really he was safely away on a ship and not at Blackpool post match if you ask me.

As stated if anyone had seen Derek as I did post match, as the players were leaving the Featherstone pitch, you would quickly conclude Derek's passion for Leigh RLFC is as strong as it has ever been.

It's that strong burning passion of our club that got him in trouble on that social media thingymabob in the first place, and staying off it is one of his better made decisions.

For his own sake as much as the club's.

Some busted bodies out there today. We need to dip into the transfer market to bring in some middles. Derek said yesterday that he has the funds and is actively looking. I know he’s turned us down once but Joe Bullock needs to be approached again.

Ryan Bailey was injury free, but looked the most knackered player out there today, he cannot be risked at Toulouse next week, it may be even hotter and more humid than today, same with Mickey we need younger bodies who can play longer minutes, no time for sentiment a job needs to be done.
Getting in the top four and obtaining the prize money must be our aim and regroup for next year, we are nowhere near good enough to trouble the present SL teams, simply to slow in both thought and of limb.

Guess that's why we beat Salford 24-10 then in the challenge cup then....

Sounds like we didn’t play very well but that is 11 wins from the last 12 league games.

The middle playes, Bailey in particular struggled with their outside backs' footwork, how Saltenstall was allowed to get that offload away for their scrum half's try I'll never know.

Far too much dropped ball as well. The only spell we had where we completed our sets, we scored 4 tries in about 15-20 minutes!

I thought you played ok to be fair facing a pretty decent team. The reality is we should not be able to live with Leigh given how much it probably cost to put that team together.

Given Fax's plan was to compete for a top 4 place with the best part time team, then yes, you should be able to live with Leigh in a one off game. Thought fax were very unlucky to be fair, a couple of 50/50 calls went our way that led to first couple of tries in second half. Draw would've been fair result.

Salty has a history of trying to offload, with a lot ending up in opposition hands (including one for your tries today). That said, it actually looked a well-timed and accurate pass this time round, and found one of our quicker players as well.

36 points conceded doesn't suggest it, but this is more about your speed and skill in the backs. The Fax defence is strong, and a lot of the dropped ball was down to robust but fair tackles. Had to laugh when Muzza (Scott Murrell) wiped his brow with the ball just before a drop-out. I commented on it... and then on the next tackle you knocked on!

Yeah theres a couple of decisions leading to tries I would like to see again but I thought the ref had a good game. The game flowed well in the 2nd half and I didnt think either team slowed it down that much so credit to both teams. 1st half was scrappy as neither team could keep hold of the ball but 2nd half was worth the extortionate entrance fee.

Yes,i did too. My take on today's game is, i thought we were lucky in the end to get the result, It could've gone either way. Thank god it went our way.

That was also my observation through out. Quite a few wearing red and white are simply not up to top 4 Championship required standard and the table does not lie does it?

For how long we are going to persevere with both Reynolds and Hutchison at 6 & 7 is anyone's guess. There is more pace in front row forwards Greg Richards and James Green than Leigh's halves.

Scott Murell proved though you don't need to have pace to influence a game. He was easily the best player out there today. He orchestrated everything today, a very talented player still, with a sublime kicking game. If you offered us your clever 6 in exchange for ours now for the run in, I would literally snatch your hand off. A 6 with a rugby brain.


If only we could find a club foolish enough to take over Jamie Actons highly lucrative contract. Fat chance would be a fine thing. He is totally flogging a living. Respecting the ball for one would be a start.

No leadership, no pace, no kicking game, no creativity and in some unacceptably no or not enough desire*. Exactly why we constantly throw away winning positions.

I was praying for Hood to replace Hutchison when he came on for his second stint, so Mortimer could play in the halves.

WOW, I was screaming exactly the same.

We didn’t play particularly well VL. We looked lethargic in both attack and defence. I think the previous two games have taken a lot out of the squad both physically and mentally and it showed today. Fax are a decent side but we made them look better than they are. We had the opportunity to build some confidence and help our points differences today and nearly blew it. I suppose it’s a sign of a good side when they can play poorly and still win.

If the last two games have taken a lot out of them, then today won't exactly energise them for next week. Thought Gregson did well, I think it's time for another forward or two to come in from the fringes next week

On the subject of new recruits, shame we couldn't go in for Moss when he was available. A new fb would all Owens to go back to the wing which will give the option of playing Hall at half back

You won and well done for that, but you seriously think you made us look better than we are just because you had a couple of tough games (we had a momentous one against Fev in Blackpool). You didn't play poorly, it was a cracking game of rugby league which you edged at the end.
