I have supported this club for donkeys years, I can qoute you similar stories going back to tge history of time. Many stories proceeding yours Keith please let me be clear about that.

Alan seems quite magnanimous about the past, Mr C. Mish doesn't post often so Bongser will not judge (especially as he quite fancies her avatar). Whatever went on between you and Derek needs to be left alone. Kak has happened in Bongser's life. He chooses not to dwell on it.

Like you say it seems a lot of people do brown nose DB and seem to be intimidated by him.
Respect is there for what he's put into the club but we don't need it shoving down our throats. The glory should go to the lads on the pitch - not an owner! Can you imagine Simon Moran acting like DB does - no coz he's far too professional.
Wonder if I could find a pub in another town with a picture of the owner on the side of it

I thoroughly enjoyed what I did at the club - as I told Paul Terzis one day, when he caught me staring at the pitch - "I'm watching the grass grow!" I packed in out of frustration - there just weren't enough of us to share around the work, and we were just treading water, with no imminent chance of progress

As for the current owner, we haven't always seen eye-to-eye, (life would be pretty boring and unproductive if we did) and I don't always like the way he goes about things, (just my opinion, which isn't always right!) but we sure as heck wouldn't be in SL right now, but for him. We would still be treading water, or sunk without trace! For what he has done, he has my respect and gratitude.

Although I've cringed and said so at some of DB's comments especially when he very first took over, I don't really see this TV appearance as anything more than two mates having a bit of fun. And if like the weight loss challenge it happens that some charity somewhere along the lines benefits then all well and good.

My biggest concern with regards to DB is were would it leave us should he walk?

Glow I agree it you , the last thing I want to happen is Derek to walk, I think the Judge Rinder and weight loss with Marwan are harmless, they have come at a bad time, Derek wears his heart on his sleeve nowt wrong with that and I applaud his investment in the Club, injuries have devastated the Club, and after a Dream start some folk expected to be in the top 8,one even sid the top 4

The only thing i see is a guy who had the vision and cash to return Leigh to SL for the first time in 12 years. Whether you like Derek as a person or not im sure he doesnt care but the one thing he should get his respect for putting your towns team back in with the big boys.

No mention of his charity donations - which is applauded. But as great as this is, it always brings attention to him. I don't gloat when I buy a sandwich for a homeless person or put some loose change in a charity box.

Maybe as an owner of a club and business, highlighting raising cash for charity brings more cash for said charity? Where as you putting what ever in a charity box brings nothing to the said charity in terms of extra input?

Now why dont you tell us all who you are and then we can debate as Mish says in a none controlled manner..

Evening Pedro. Firstly, Bongser thinks that the "Every Little Helps" is a Tesco ad (and as, seemingly in cahoots with ASDA they have both recently removed their 4 strong ales for 5-6 spondooliks, Ste everyone is drinking less beer - tesco will probably claim that that lidl (sic) bit helps too!)

Andy will be the first to admit he didn't get the group together Keith, at the time nobody was willing to take ownership and give some direction after the players hadn't been paid. Interested parties met, financial commitments given and aspects of the clubs running allocated. Derek paid the players wages and we just about got the winding up order sorted, thanks to Michael, John and Derek.

It was the platform that got the club moving again and ignited the dream inside the one willing and able to dig deep to realise it. You need serious cash to be successful as a small town club to get to the top table today, the relatively small amounts we put in would not get us there but
keeping the club breathing and then to move it forward off the pitch is something Andy, myself and others no longer involved are probably extremely proud to have been a part of.

I'm only speculating, but I'm sure there is a commercial pay-off for AB and any other DB companies with Leigh being in Super League - I'm sure this was in the business plan. And that's a good thing if both can sustain each other commercially. Personally I think Derek has done a great job and this current injury crisis is really sad to witness as the whole team from top to bottom deserve more. Maybe we'll have a good run of form going into the last third of the season and into the 8s. To replicate that ebullient optimism from the 8s last season, bang the first half of the Huddersfield game on, what a 40 minutes that was, and on paper the squad wasn't as good as this year. Absolutely superb!

I would speculate any commercial payment will be donated to charity..

The publicity on Rinder will be good for rugby league which I suspect us why they did it and to have a laugh at themselves what's wrong with that ?

I believe Rugby League, as a sport, is low on 'characters' (i.e. individuals who bring the sport to the attention of the public) these days. When such people emerge, we shouldn't knock them for everything they do - providing their actions do not harm the sport.

It's definitely low on characters Alan, but I'd prefer my characters to actually play the sport and not be the people who should sit quietly in the background. Do you not think it must be embarrassing for Jukesy to rarely get a mention when Leigh are in the news? I cringe every time I see the words 'Leigh owner....'. I reckon more people know his name than they do the rest of the team and that can't be right. Surely the whole world now knows he's sunk a fortune into the club. Cool. Enough already. We know. We've heard it a 1000 times. He gives loads to charity. Cool. Enough already. We know. We've heard it a 1000 times.

Of course at the moment, we're being told that he's going to fix it - is Jukesy not up to the job of fixing it? Well that's a vote of confidence isn't it? It's just wrong, and like I said, in RL circles he's a laughing stock and they know that Jukesy is his yes man which doesn't show our club up in a good light.
