| There's no way the south stand was half full and for a team that's gets 15000 plus most games thought it was a poor following, but I do think making Leeds wigan Saints ect pay more than wakefield Salford ect is wrong and could have had an effect on some fans coming

Ben Reynolds was a stand out performer for me last night, got around the park & swiftly too, he is showing very good potential, as he did pre season.
Mr Tickle didn't have his best game but was very good last week v Cas, when he ran his blood to water.
Antoni Maria went better than I expected
Mitch Brown played very well & earned the N°1 spot.
Acton, strong & aggressive again but so, so stupid to get 10 mins bin time.
A-J, strong & getting better all the time, just lacks lightening pace of a true out & out wing.
Tonga, ok but this is his last season of RL I reckon.
Pellisier, impressed, could turn out to be an inspired signing.
Vea, a big hairy [iDonkey[/i & not fit to pull on a Leigh shirt, send him to Sheffield or [iCoventry[/i where he will find his level. Saints fans warned us & they were right.
Injured/not selected.
Higham, we need him back.
Weston, the same, one if our finest forwards.
Hood, good interchange hooker.
Stewart, didn't have a good Cas game but class is permanent.
Riddy, rabbit in the headlights v Cas but again should come good, not fit.
Hock, solid & dependable but a hot head like Jamie, hope he has a quick recovery as we need him.
I am thinking that Vea & Tonga go out on a Season long loan to free up SC space to improve Centre forward positions.'"
Jury out on Vea I must admit, Tonga looks class, starts every week for me if fit - will also get better with game time
Higson is no slouch, be interesting to see him with an open line 70 yards out - not sure many would catch him

| Very good (not great) against Leeds. Team still needs to gel and will improve. Have to stick up for Acton - opponents hate to play against this guy- he's hard and direct and in your face all the time. (He's better than the ageing Hock) Also Hopkins still improving and Maria is hard to handle. All will play better with Micky Higham. First win will be March 10

| We also have the lad James Clare from Bulls out with a season long (hopefully not) injury, he has pace to burn & a big miss IMHO.
Such a tough opening fixture list & hammered with 1st choice player injuries too.
Having it tough ATM.

No more than a 1,000 Leeds speccies in South Stand last night, compared to approx 1,900 Leigh fans at Cas, so not great.
A combination of Friday night Sky TV fixture & some whinge-bags moaning about the price conspires against us crowd wise I feel.

| Must say, Tickle put out one of the worst performances I'd seen in a while (from a neutral).
Every time he got the ball when there was space sometimes 2/3rd in a passing movement with runners at the side of him the ball stopped dead with him. I was surprised how dominated he was when running it in getting pushed back a lot too and he looks to have lost another yard of pace since his hull days.
To some level I agree with the opening poster. But he hit the nail on head with Tickle the most.
Entertaining game and it's good to see Leeds still struggling (think they'll be lucky to get Top . Thought you edged it in performance and attitude but this is the way it goes sometimes.

Stewart not risked as he picked up a slight knock at Cas, back next week.
Green dropped, along with Weston, Ridyard and Hampshire.

I can't be the only one thinking IF Vea had let that pass go to win you the game you would all be lording him and giving him keys to the town?
Bit harsh from yourself if you ask me as an outsider looking in he seemed to go well yesterday and his defense was particularly good. I think you are doomed for the middle 8's though judging by your 2 games so far along with Leeds and Widnes. Leeds attack was shocking and i think the score line flattered you a lot.

| It's easy to say who to get rid of but less easy to say who to bring in. As a newly promoted club your options are much more limited than the more established clubs, unless of course you agree to pay over the odds for players thus limiting the squad size when the inevitable injuries bite. Also it also depends on the players you have agreeing to end their contracts.
TBF I thought Leeds where there for the taking last night but your side is still new to each other so passes will not be made and thus chances missed as they do not yet know each others games. I will say you play an enjoyable brand of rugby to watch but perhaps still lack the pragmatism required in SL. The mistakes you got away with in the Championship will often be punished in SL. As I posted after your first game you have an awful first five or six games and I do not expect you to pick up many, if any, points from these games. But keep the faith and I am sure your first win is coming sooner rather then later.

Indeed after the match some ' qualified ' opinion was given to me " we need decent half backs " , but upon asking them " Who and where from ? " no answer was forthcoming , personally I believe we have a decent squad and an experienced HB coach in Paul Cooke , let's just get to work
Slightly disappointed with both home and away support last night , and feel the fans who did attend must keep the faith and remain optimistic , in all reality we are playing for 10 th spot after the regular season
But we did blow it in truth

| For me, what killed us last night, was the alarming way we coughed up possession for the first 25 minutes of the second half. You just can't afford to do that at this level - Cas punished many of our mistakes mercilessly, last week. Fortunately Leeds couldn't take advantage - either because of their limitations, or the way we defended so well in that second half.
There is a lot of criticism on here, of Willie Tonga. It's been difficult to assess him, in his limited game time. However, last night, he skinned his opposing centre two or three times, on the outside. And that opposing centre is a current England international - Kallum Watkins. I reckon Tonga has class, and if he can stay clear of injuries, could play a significant role for us this season.

Indeed Alan , only 1 or 2 changes for me for next week ( and I won't embarrass them or me by saying who ) , one thing I do think is Ryan Hampshire has taken Lee Smiths mantle in being a player to fit in where needed when issues arise , having played 3 positions in our 2 games so far
As I said our fans must keep faith , it was never going to be easy

Pragmatism is what has contributed to the SL being a mediocre competition in recent seasons. Our success is built on the brand of rugby we play - if the players listen and learn from our coaching team - we will be ok.

But you currently don't have players good enough to play the style of rugby you played in the championship and cover for the mistakes that are made or forced by better teams.
At the moment you are a bottom 4 for a reason. The game against Leeds should have been a win for you but wasn't. Not because your side was not good enough to win but simply because too many mistakes being made by trying to play attractive rugby gifting Leeds the ball time and again. I would not say SL in mediocre, I would say it is tedious at times and as I have stated I like how Leigh try to bring some entertainment back to the game, however you are going to need far better players than you currently have.
I am not saying completely change your game but simply be more aware that mistakes will be made so play expansive rugby in the right areas. the percentage game at the right moments is a requirement if you want to keep the place you have earned.

| Huge positives from Hopkins and Acton, they took it in hard and troubled Leeds. Add Higham and Stewart to that team and we win with ease imo. So if all are fit it's Higham and Eloi at hooker, Stewart for Vea and two from Hock/Weston/Tickle. We do need a fit Riddy on the park to see if Derek needs to pull a 6 in.
