A Cas fan wanting Wakefield to be relegated is extremely short-sighted. The game against Wakefield at home is one of highest attendances, and with this comes money to be able to spend improving our squad. Wakefield and Castleford are good for each other financially.
Also, we tend to get them at Magic Weekend due to the powers that be pairing up local teams. I for one would much rather be playing Wakefield than Huddersfield or Leeds as our 'extra' game.
On the subject of Leigh, they have shown that they are capable of beating SL teams. Any team who can make the "million pound game" stands a chance of SL if they can put in one performance. I don't like the concept, I'd prefer the top 4 teams went into SL next year as the points gap between 4th and 5th could be significant, but the RFL want the excitement of the final game
Whatever happens, if no Championship clubs are promoted they have no excuses as they have been given the opportunity they need.

Correct Demon, the system is flawed & does favour the SL Clubs, we have what we have though & if we don't make it at the 1st attempt then we weren't quite ready.

I am hopeful that next season will bring a narrowing of the gap, we really need the cap margin to narrow so that if a SL Club get £1.8m a Championship side can spend £1.5m, *with the caveat of proving affordability to the RFL*.
Also, if a SL Club get £250k+ outside of the team cap for a Marquee signing then a Championship Club should also be entitled to a Marquee player at maybe £50k less, *assuming again affordability is proven & that we or any other Club could attract a Marquee player*.

Until this happens, then the chances of any change to the SL team roster are slim to none.

They can spend what the like on the marquee player. But that player will only take a certain amount of the salary cap up 100 or 175k dependant on being club trained. What is to stop an aussie star being paid 600k and then hiring another players missus as his cleaner or nanny and paying them 300k. Effectively they can have several marquee players with some creative accounting

I think somebody has forgotten to inform the Bulls of this 'theory' today! I've backed Leigh fans up all season, but reading some of the excuses and watching the dirty tactics employed yesterday is changing my mind unfortunately. It's easy to 'bully' a bunch of part timers week in week out, but it won't work in SL. Should have played with 12 for most of the game yesterday, but the ref had no balls to send him for the knee. And, yes, I know we were rubbish yesterday, but I would rather be rubbish in one game pushing for top 4 in SL than making excuses as to why we aren't good enough to make the grade. The difference in money hasn't bothered you all season when you've been hammering part timers with a fraction of the cash that you have. FWIW I backed Bradford to be the most likely to make SL as I believe the difference is Jimmy Lowes, who has the experience to employ correct tactics against the SL opposition.

If anyone is suspiciously cheap on the salary cap then it's investigated, and unusual payments to family members by the club or anyone financially associated with it are something that would get you in a lot of trouble.
