Couldn't go today with it being a Sunday game. We had a family do on, as a lot of families tend to organise them on a Sunday. Stopped of for a pint in leigh and noticed the pubs were packed with people watching the football. I take it with the weather being so kind, a Sunday match (much cherished by the "I don't like change brigade"icon_wink.gif, ticket offers we had on and the fact it was a big play off game we had an above average crowd on today?

For next season could you email the club to the days that you are available to attend games, also if possible contact the Premier League to arrange games suitably. Barring that we'll continue to attend and I personally couldn't give a damn about the wendyball followers watching a game in a pub. The majority of whom would only attend a Leyth game in a major match.

Barty todays attendance was a bit of a disappointment , I expected more , I to am not bothered about Soccer and the TV games , whatever day is Matchday , I will always try to attend , though I prefer Sunday afternoons , the Donny following was shocking , there couldn't have been more than 20 from Donny , but we do need more through the Turnstiles next season , when along with ourselves London and Bradford will be up for the top 4 ,Cmon Leythers your team needs you .

I agree charlie that the attendance was lower than expected but my reply was to the previous post.The club aren't responsible if everyman and his dog have organised do's on a Sunday or that some wendyball game is on Sky.

Ok. We should stick with game day that is becoming increasingly difficult for RL clubs to market. I notice that there was only 1 super league play off game today. Maybe super league clubs should switch back to Sunday kick offs to please their traditionalist over Fifties fan base who don't like change!

I know what you were saying Barty , and I agree the Club cant cater to please everybody ,I expected more fans to turn up today the figure of 1,800 has been given as the break even figure , some Leythers only turn out for so-called big games , so hopefully they will feel the game in 2 weeks time id a BIG game .

Think our gate on September 28 will be a lot better unless we have a lot of Burnley fans.

Today North stand was the same as usual but a lot of folk missing from the West stand.

One thing our BOM will do is listen to the fans , the BOM want as many fans attending as possible and will decide gameday times will be whatever is MOST popular , its got nowt to do with being over 50 , and to say the over 50s want Sunday afternoons is wrong , I admit I prefer Sundays , and im only 30 , Sexism , Ageism , to many isms .

For me it has nothing to do with what ever day you preference is for watching RL as I personally think we'll see a good gate at the next play off game (whatever day / night its played) but more a case that the interest levels in early round play off games is very low at every club in Britain and has been for some time.

Stick to Sunday's, we had a family do on Saturday night, also a very popular night for family do 's, some people might even suggest more popular than Sunday's. Reality is there isn't a perfect day, but a predictable, consistent day does and always will help attendances in general.

It was a ticket only non-knockout playoff game, you're never going to be getting the same sort of attendances for that especially when the playoffs are so poorly attended anyway for all clubs & competitions, one of the many reason they're being scrapped next year in this format.

I'm not fussed about who's playing what other sport at the same time, the club can't be concerned about that; otherwise you move a game for Man Utd, then you start moving them for Liverpool, then Bolton Wanderers, then w!g@n Warriors, Then Warrington Wolves, then Salford Red Devils, then Sale Sharks, before you know it you've moved a game 4 times to a Tuesday afternoon to avoid the preliminary round of the Shanghai & District Tiddlywinks Championship delayed broadcast on Premier Sports. Just pick a day that's best for us, our club and our fans and stick to that, let others do what they want.

The reality is that yesterday was not a defining match for Leigh RLFC. A victory would not secure a Grand Final spot and a defeat would not end our season. Everyone had to pay, hardly any away support and the attendance was just under 2000 with another play off match in a fortnights time. Its hardly the end of the world is it.?

As for the over 50s dont like change well anyone who has read my posts will be aware I am a big advocate of playing games on Saturday evening. This slot is relatively untried apart from a fleeting slot occasionally where the attendances have been extremely encouraging.

If people are prepared to say Sunday gates are disappointing then equally they will have to admit that our attendances on Friday night games over the years have also been spectacular failures. Proven in the attendance figures

The truth of the matter is the Leigh public do not like Friday night rugby. It may work at Leeds but it certainly does not in Leigh.

So Saturday evenings aimed at Familes then.. Are they now our future?

When we play our semi I am sure the crowd will be a lot better no matter what day it is played.

I too think a lot thought yesterday was not an important game (not me of course

) but I think the Leigh and district public will want us to make our first Grand Final for 10 years.

This Leigh side is capable of playing some outstanding RL.

Maybe you announcing it was going to be a walkover didn't help - saved me a few quid anyway, probably should have gone to the bookies with it
