| Quote ="Snowy"Someone sounds a little touchy !!
He can be frustrating, but as already stated, a very skilful forward with excellent foot and ball handling skills.
Maybe at times he could be described as a 'tool' whilst playing. Saying that, most Leigh fans might have said that about previous players with the same calibre of mentality as Sam.
I loved watching Timmy Street and Tony Cottrell as a kid. Enough said !!! LOL'"
Me, touchy? , not at all, but also not blinkered either as it seems many are on here ,Barlow is a decent player, just a shame he seems more interested in being the pantomime villain than actually playing the game as a grown up
I'll leave it there

| I love big Sam
Ok he has a mean streak but that's what makes him the player he is .
I've watched him all season and he's kept a lid on it most of the time

| Sam Barlow has been great for Leigh this season , he is a real Character and is just what the game needs , he feeds off the Fans as the Fans do off him , whatever folk think of him he has contributed to a great season ,Thanks Sam .We all have our Fave players , im a big fan of Ryan Brierley ,but for me one star this season has to be Tom Armstrong , must be the BEST centre in this League ,has had a great season , took a bit of stick physically but never shirked anything , again thanks Tom .

| Sam is a character who will always provide entertainment as his type of player does, he loves being the target man for the oppositions own hard men. Next season some of them will be smarter.

| Steve
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but to begin name calling one of our players of the year is at best bewildering.
Have a look at Sam stats for the season and the yardage made last night.
Verbals go on in the game all season. Sam gives and takes it, Fev couldn't.
What is a disgrace is Crookes deliberate attack on Sam that should have earned a red card.
To read any Leigh fan labelling Sam a nob and good riddance is staggering!

Unless you have seen the contract first hand its probably not wise to believe all the hype surrounding Sam.

Charlie's comments are right on the money.
We knew exactly what we were getting when we signed Sam Barlow - many of us had seen him on many occasions playing against us and other teams.
Would we have been better off without him this season?
Was he a shrewd signing?
Has he delivered?
Has he added anything to the crackling atmosphere and the entertainment value of our team in this brilliant season?
Anyone in any doubt should ask Paul Rowley or the vast majority of Leigh fans.
Sam has paid back Paul's faith in him - in spades. His sublime game breaking offloads have been well worth the admission money on their own, let alone the shed loads of work he has got through - depleting the energy levels of the opposition forwards week in week out.
I am also very pleased for Sam Hopkins who is now fully "rehabilitated" and back playing at the level we know he is capable of. His tackles last night were right out of the 'Aussie Bell Ringing Guide to Tackle Technique'. Come back for keeps Sam - this is where you belong.

| Sam has been brilliant, the yards he makes and his skill at offloading are exceptional. He has a bit of a hot head at times but he seems to improveing it. As to him going to Leeds, anyone think it's slighly a coincidence this romour which has never been mentioned by Leigh, Leeds, Sam or any of th press started right after the Leeds game? Until it's in an official press release I don't beleive it and will be looking forward to seeing Sam next season.

Why has there been no announcement of a full time contract for next season for him like the rest of the squad? His two year deal with us is part time. Can't see him being the only member of the squad on a part time deal.

| The number of tries he's created in recent weeks is absolutely unreal. And as for him being a "tool", he was taking head shots and verbals all over the shop last night and as far as I can tell didn't react once, despite Fev's best attempts. Says it all when Hardman went running to the referee complaining about what was clearly a non incident considering it was he and not Barlow who headed off to the sin bin.
If Leeds come in for him as rumoured then I certainly wouldn't begrudge him a chance at the big time, but if he builds on this season and stays with us then that'd be an incredible boost for next year.

| I agree Both Sam s need to stay
We don't want to lose any of the team
Even if some have already signed elsewhere for next season they've given there all for us anyway and like Sam they usually come back , Hilly being the only one that probably won't .

| I think Sam Barlow has been outstanding for us this season as have many others.
I see on the thread about who has signed up for next season Nostradamus's lad posted on June 19 that Sam Barlow has signed.
Agree with Lynda too that it would be great to have Sam Hopkins back next season as our player again.

Don't know, maybe together, Sam, Rowley and Beaumont have decided to focus on finishing the season 1st, maybe they wanted to take a break and focus on winning the league before getting back to signings (like we did just before the Challenge Cup game). Could be hundreds of reasons, don't think we should just jump to the conclusion that he's going.

| First of all Sam Barlow has been a revelation at Leigh and credit must also go to young Rowley for getting the very best out of him. Easily the new signing of the season, despite Liam Kays superb performances.
When you look at the Leeds side you can see why Leeds would be interested in Sam. Rob Burrows would relish zipping through off one of his off loads.
As for the Leeds rumours young Rowley alluded to an alledged meeting between Leeds officials and one of our players in response to Brian MCDermotts criticism of our tactics.
I also agree with Charlie regarding Tom Armstrong. What a class act this young man is becoming. He really is developing in to a top top centre in the game. He can go far.
And finally with Steve mentioning the amount of money he has put in, when I add up how much money I have spent on this club since going off to work at the age of 15 right upto the match last night I bet I am not to far behind him.. He will be surprised. A frightening amount over many many years.
I would spend it all again tommorrow. I love the club. It has been there with me every step of my life. I talk about it everyday to everyone. I must bore a lot of people half to death he he.

| Thought last night Barlow had an excellent game. Have made some remarks about him historically regarding his antics, but purely based on his rugby would love him to stay, based on his other side I wouldn't. As for Tom Armstrong he would be the first player I would drop. Couldn't believe my eyes last night when he actually passed the ball!! He does some very good things, but is a very greedy and selfish player.

I really don't know where you watching the game from , Tom Armstrong for me has had a brilliant season , taken a lot of stick from very physical tackles , but has bounced back most games , he was immense against Leeds ,and has Tormented every side we have played this season .He has filled out his body frame very well ,makes the yards ,and to describe him as selfish and greedy , I don't agree , obviously you are entitled to your opinions and I respect your views , but don't agree .We have had some BIG successes this season on the playing front , Tom is one of them .
I think few will give negative criticism about Sam Barlow , I know I wont , there was a point last night when Sam stopped and appeared to be checking his Jaw after a high tackle , I commented he was probably counting his teeth .

| Tom Armstrong gready? How is this possible when our 2nd top try scorer is Liam Kay who plays outside Tom? Tom has been outstanding this year hence why he is in the kingstone press team of the week most weeks! I must watch a different game to these people.
Sam Barlow has also been outstanding

Tom does some good things and has played well, but for me he is one who I think has the potential to do more than he does for the team, instead of doing it for himself. Thought Sam Hopkins last night was outstanding and brutal in the tackle and I think the time in the reserves has helped spencer. Bottom line is great win, great season and excited about the future.

| So glad we now have a BoD's and management team who can spot a good player, bring that good player to the club and develop that player into the star he is today.
To call Sam a tool stinks of both short sightedness and negativity...............something that "some" of the previous board had in abundance.
Having said that Starburg is entitled to his opinion and is a well balanced poster.....He has a chip on BOTH shoulders
