Thanks John, you and the rest of the BOM have worked miracles, hope this ride goes on.

Since coming on the Leigh BOD John has been appointed CEO of a Global Security company who's business interests have virtually doubled over the last 12 months, I met John again after a period of some 30+ years when he came on the BOD and together we spoke about a pay-per-view service that would enhance the Leigh Centurions brand that had always been a vision of mine that I never thought would be put into service. But with Johns great assistance and drive (and of course the support of the other team members) we have seen that part of the 'brand' grow until we now have over 500 active subscribers.
I have not spoken to John since his decision to depart us but am sure it is just because he can't devote enough time because of his own business commitments.
But on a personal note I thank him for what he has done in bringing our great club to another level, he will be a hard act to follow, good luck mate, who the heck am I going to myther now then

The key to any successful consortium is that everyone continues to sing from the same hymn sheet and any differences of opinion (of which there will inevitably be over time) no matter how small are always resolved quickly and amicably.

I have no reason however to believe anything other than everyone at Leigh shares the same ambition, are pleased at where the club is at this moment in time and all focused on delivering Super League status.

It's unfortunate for us that John Roddy has had to step down, the board with him as chairman has obviously done a fantastic job saving he club and brining it from the brink of collapse to being ready for Super League. Following him on twitter he's obviously a very busy man and I'd hope it's simply that he can't find the time to carry on doing the work Leigh need him to do. Want to thank him, wish him all the best and hope to still see him round the LSV on matchdays.

The club statement tells us nothing!

I'm sorry but even though I'd like to believe John left because of his other commitments I don't think it's true. I didn't think it before and now after reading the club statement I'm certain it's for other reasons.

Not very convincing is it? Where is the quote from one of the other directors thanking him for his service? Where is the quote from John himself telling us that his work commitments leave him unable to devote enough time to the club?

That statement looks like a fag packet job done in a rush, "He was a very good figurehead", wtf? There is no disappointment at his leaving, no sadness at his leaving, it is a 'thanks pal, bye bye" cold message.

It's a very brief statement to cover the departure of a major figure at the club. Still, it's miles better, grammatically, than Fev's statement, this week!



No idea why John has departed, but his replacement needs to be someone who will be as respected and professional as he has been. I wonder who it will be?

Let's be honest, not as though John's business commitments will have suddenly mushroomed such that he had to make an urgent decision to quit virtually on the spot, clearly without the club having the time to prepare a measured statement.

He seemed to be implying that he was no longer needed based on the win at Fev - this makes no sense, the journey has only just begun!

If it was work commitments then it is easy enough to say so.

Not sure why the club felt the need to rush out a statement that raises far more questions than it answers.

In my application of english grammar is correct isn't that what "I don't believe it for one moment" means?

ie you don't believe what someone is saying about it. In which case they must be lying musn't they?

When folk have business's to run its difficult to approve the final statement quickly, this is the club officially informing its fans that's all.

It has been evident Derek has become more active publically in recent weeks, have the old guard pushed out the new?? Will there be further departures, lets wait and see. Andy has been suspiciously quiet last day or two.

Our Chairman has resigned - I now urge the club to issue a press statement declaring a 4 week media blackout. Please also suggest that our fans should butt out, mind their own business and let the board get on with whatever they feel like.

If the board feel that isn't going far enough, then it might be time to announce our ambitions to reach the top 4 of the NRL within the next six months.

If you could word the release in a manner that leaves in practically unintelligible, that would assist greatly.

That's how an ambitious, top club would do it

Well the positivity surrounding the club didn't last long.

I personally think that the statement is more than adequate at this moment in time. What else could they do? John has released it before they could have. Does look like they have been caught on the hop but I would hope that the club and John can release a more detailed joint press statement in the not too distant future. The ship really did look to have been steadied when John took over as chairman and I thank him for all his hard work. Big shoes to fill but I am confident that there is someone who can do it.

My reference to not believing that JR has left for other business commitments is towards others on this thread who said this might be the case.

Typical thread,a lot of people as usual adding 2 and 2 and coming up with 5.How did we survive before having to know everything immediately,I'm sure his true reason for resigning is a combination of what people have said on here but I for one will not have sleepless nights worrying about it.

Does this mean that one of the financial foundation stones upon which plans have been made has gone (ie the oft-discussed several year commitments from various board members).
