By the sounds of it it has got Sam believing he has signed a contract at Leigh for next season as well.



It goes 2 ways, either a deluded fan came on here and made up some rumor about a player signing for someone or a board member just lied to his own fans. If its the first one I will scuttle away with my tale between my legs or if its the 2nd I promise I wont say I told you so.

Because although Greg

might not say it others will say "I told you so" and then they are in the position of defending the situation all over again. Arguing/explaining with fans (sometimes our own) about the timings etc. Rather than not getting involved in the first place and just posting signings the official announcement on CTV when the timing is right.

Technically Andy said no Barlow "deal" with a full stop, then a new separate statement was made about anouncements.

Well on Radio leeds after the game yesterday Sam was being interviewed and just said he was at Fev for the moment and next year had not been decided and he hoped he could stay longer with the Rovers.
As you guys have said if you believe half of what you here you will be completely wrong.
They have you going dizzy.

It is not illegal to approach a player as long as their club has approved it.

I also heard the Barlow interview on Leeds radio, he was very cagey.

Aye he was Fred, that's a good way of describing it.
He was trying so hard not to put his foot in and to be nice to everybody at the same time it was comical in a way.

But it wasn't message board gossip - it is quite a large article in the League Weekly paper for all to read. Have they made it up or has someone leaked something?

To be honest,Message boards are all about gossip.rumors etc,you take that away and you have a very sterile MB.

It was ironic that the interview by our sam was at the lsv, he was obviously getting used to the place, i personally would love sam in our pack, add that bit of aggresion all good packs needs. However not if it means a certain mr ridyard goes in opposite direction, i have said before i really cant see why ridy would want to go to fax or any other club for that matter

A bit of aggresion(channeled in the right way) is what has been missing from Barlow`s game this season. The reality was though that most teams have his step and offload down to a tee and it dosnt leave a whole lot left apart from his temper and giving penalties away. Given we were able to bring Adamson in and a couple of players returning from injury it left him way down the pecking order. Shape up or ship out and he chose out. Like I have said though very shrewd bit of business from Fax.

Well I was at Fax for their game against Fev.

This Barlow Riddy story was related to me by Fax mates of mine. I said I thought it was wishfull thinking on their part.

A very big Fev fan said Barlow was a good mate of one of their Board members and he thought Barlow would be at Fev next season.

I've no problem with player rumour threads actually enjoy reading them.

What I don't like is and the reason I commented was insinuations that our club may be doing something illegal when it's not the case.

I think my 2nd to last post was the only one that mentioned an ilegal approach and was very much tongue in cheek. The fact is that Sam has a year left on his contract at Fax. I very much doubt that Fax would just let him walk away from that contract and would look to be compensated in some way, be that money or player swap, for the last year of a very hefty contract.

I wonder how many weeks he will go at Leigh before his agent starts banding around that a SL team have come in for him and he wants more money.

He was very poor that day, I remember that. We just got back in the game and he tried passing out of a 4 man tackle about 10 out from our own sticks.

Thanks for clarifying it was just rumour mongering and Leigh have done nothing Illegal.

Thats not for me to say is it? I expect you will be waiting a while for an apology from the trade papers though. That is unless they are way off the mark too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall the trade papers making allegations of illegalities against us.

Its been reported in numerous places and by numerous people that Barlow has signed a deal with Leigh for next season. I guess from what you have said Leigh are denying that, so lets wait and see, maybe the people saying it are wrong.

That's how I was thinking.
Of course it could be made up but if it was a large article like that ?????.

As regards an illegal approach there is no way I can see that being the case, everybody knew that Sam was signed up at Fax for next year.

If he has penned a 2 year deal starting next season for Leigh then all parties must have been involved in the process whatever that involves.

If it turns out to be cobblers it's kept us occupied for a short while and we will survive the experience.

Not an allegation in as many words but your posts earlier in the thread could be construed as an indirect or covert suggestion or hint of a derogatory nature to our club.

A few seasons back a work mate of mine said to me "I see it says in the Daily Mirror your nephew is going out on a months loan to Aberdeen"

I replied "No he's going to Oldham 'til the end of the season"

Of course he was right because he'd read it in a national newspaper, that weekend he scored an 87th minute penalty for Oldham it was the first goal at Boundary Park for about seven games.

Newspapers are worse than message boards for rumours.

who wrote the 'article'? Nosey Parker cause we all know he gets everything right .............

I remember the hubby ringing him to retract a story about a member of our staff that he wrote that was totally wrong and made up. They put a small retraction in the foliowing week but it didn't compensate the distress the story caused.
Sometimes the press get it wrong sometimes they are right . In this case if they've got itbwrong, bet we don't see an apology , if he does eventually song for us, they'll just say they were right , if he doesn't they'll say he changed his mind !
No doubt we'd be interested if available though.

So it seems Andy was posting in response to the mention of illegalities.......and nothing else....
