| You are only in your 70's means you are a mere whipper snapper
I already have my season ticket for 2013 for yet another Leigh RL campaign.
I will still be a [iloyal[/i Leigh RL supporter until I pop it regardless of my attendance at a farce of a friendly game

| Have to agree with Alan, if Salford are cash strapped then surely getting some kind of money in early surely helps that cause - they have to start somewhere even if it means that money goes to pays off debt / creditors.
I suppose if its a case of the players refusing to play until payed etc, etc then thats a different matter and they are stumped .

| On the Swinton forum someone has posted a link to an article from Friday stating Luke Patten has lodged another petition against salford. Someone also posted that the players have not been paid.

We weren't when we all feared for our clubs future.
Must be a very anxious time for their fans. Fingers crossed for them.
Oh off thread Fev beat Hunslet 42 6 today. 32 0 at HT.

| Slightly different in that our backer was forced to pull the plug. Theirs is still in charge and asking for 600k before the reason even starts. We also acted before the threat of any winding up orders. Feel sorry for the fans who have been lied to/kept in the dark. No club has a divine right to remain where they clearly can't afford to be. I also disagreed very strongly with every aspect of the RFLs behaviour in Bradfords case.
There are clubs working very hard to run a business and successful sports club who get no reward whatsoever for their efforts due to the lopsided nature of funding our now not so great game. Am i right in thinking that without our tax problems last season we would actually have made a profit of £30k+. If a clubs time is up it is up and they can start again from the bottom if they so wish.

| Bradford fans rallied round too, as did ours. Their efforts, our efforts and those of Salford fans demonstrate who the Game has always been for, and always will be for - the fans, not SKY!
In Bradford's case, the RFL and other clubs publicly came to their aid - big time. If that is happening for Salford, then it's happening very quietly! Could it be that Salford don't put as much cash through other Sooper Dooper League clubs' turnstiles when they visit them?

| ...and theres me thinking the other SL clubs were doing it for the good of the game. SL clubs can't be as self ed as you suggest, they care about the game in general. Isn't that why they have gone from 2 academy teams to just one, and giving the Champ clubs the responsibility to raise the next generation of SL player.

But some more than others, eh? The Championship clubs get money from the RFL, which is probably from the SKY contract.

| I see that Salford see tomorrow's game with Swinton, as "an opportunity to put much needed funds into the bank." I would have thought last week's game with us would have put at least as much money in there? Also, there is no mention of a game against us next week, on their website.
As an aside to this game, I give you a section of the RFL preview of Salford v Swinton: -
[iSwinton Lions have signed =#FF0000six players on a dual registration from Warrington Wolves.
Brad Dwyer, Ryan Shaw, Danny Bridge, Gene Ormsby, Jordan Burke and Gavin Bennion will all make their debuts in tomorrow’s friendly against Salford City Reds at the Salford City Stadium.
“They are all quality players who have come through the ranks at Warrington and we are delighted to have them on board," said coach Steve McCormack.[/i
What was the maximum on D/R's?

Taken from the above RFL news article:
"Under the revisions, Super League and Championship clubs will be able to enter into Partnership Agreements: the 13 UK-based Super League clubshave the option to partner with at least one Championships club; any second partnership must be with a Championship club from Cumbria, the North East, the Midlands, the South West, South Yorkshire, London, Wales or France.
“The majority of clubs are confident that the new systems will aid the development of young players and help them progress to the highest standard possible,” said RFL Director of Performance and Coaching Jon Roberts.
“By entering into partnerships, the Super League and Championships clubs can increase standards by creating increased opportunities for all their players to experience the most competitive first-team action possible.”
=#800000Under current arrangements, the Championships clubs are allowed to field a maximum of four dual-registered or loan players: that will be increased to [size=150five[/size under the new partnership.
But then again if your a 'Super Dupper' club who cares what the rules are?
