We have this ridiculous licensing thing and now Championship clubs are expected to SUBSIDISE Non Relegation clubs developing their reserves.

In all honesty this is something so stupid I am sure Richard Lewis suggested it to the other RFL bigwig officials when they had been on the lash.

No doubt this brainbox Lewis will end up destroying netball and rounders as competative sports now that he has achieved what the RFU planted him in the RFL for.

Bet they won't have him back at the last job he was a failure in.

I too have felt uneasy about the D/C culture.

However, we would have been in trouble without it this season. Sure, Paul has managed to accumulate a high quality squad, but one that is simply not big enough to cope with the rigours of the season, when the inevitable injuries occur. In my opinion, he has 'played' the D/C rules to the maximum, and good on him for doing so. But how would he have plugged the gaps this season, without the D/C allowance?

I reckon he will also use it well next season, when the demands on a thin squad will be even greater.

Totally agree Alan , as ive said you cant please everybody , but as you say Paul R has worked the system as he sees fit , i think we all know Paul is his own man , and will do what he thinks best for Leigh Centurions , he stated at the begining of the season he would only bring in the DCs that suited him .

I for one cant see him allowing up to the said 6 DCs play in our team , it wont happen , for me just Scaremongering , this 6 players thing is just a Rumour , i dont think it will happen .

Yes but... you also make it more affordable to run a second team with a SL club contracting 6 of the squad, rather than the Champ club having to find the money, and you raise the standard of the reserve grade competition at the same time, so improving the quality of those players on semi-pro contracts when they come into the senior squad.

But if that's the case wouldn't it impact on the development of players in the Leigh area joining Leigh's reserve side ?

I obviously take your point but it seems to me' and it would seem to the vast majority of supporters of other Championship clubs' that this deal helps one club more than the other and the gainer is the Non Relegation club.

This would cause fans to give up on supporting Championship rugby and not surprisingly that is what has happened since promotion and relegation to and from the top league was ended by a ludicrous experiment.

A ludicrous experiment I might had that has made it hard to introduce new fans to the game because they can't get their head round why some clubs can never aspire to be in the top league in the game.

So where do the other 14 or so players from each sl club as they jettison their U20's.

Aren't they also changing U23's age group down. More players left kicking their heels.

And who's going to pay £14 to watch what amounts to Super League reserve grade. These won't be Leigh players.

If they put on the Leigh shirt , then they are Leigh players ,ive said this before if 17 Eskimoes turn out at the LSV wearing Leigh shirts , then they will be cheered on as Leigh players .

To me Ryan Brierley is a Leigh player when wearing our shirt , im sure all the Fans who cheered on his Match winning try on Friday wouldnt argue .
