| What I was getting at is the fact that some supporters who have children shouldn't be deterred from attending Friday night games

I would say however Saints, Wigan, Man Utd, Bolton, City are not comparrisons for Leigh Centurions.
Our support base doesn't come near any of those.
What was the uptake on families or children (ie upto 9 years old from 5 years old) watching Stockport Countys Fri Games, orSwintons - they are what Leigh are comparable to not some of the biggest clubs in there respective sports.'"
We've never been wigan or saints,at least not in the last 30yrs, but our support base should be twice what it is,so why is it not?.
My opinion is,the club has always made the wrong long term decisions or hasn't made any long term decisions at all.
I have every admiration for the new regime for starting to seek the answers to some awkward question.

| I was hoping to bring my son with me to all the home games this season but due to this decision he will only be coming to the Sunday games, and before anybody says anything I think even a 7-30 ko time is too late for me to have my son out when it will mean he will only be getting home about 9-30ish which is way past his bedtime, I was considering joining the touchdown club on the silver package but now I will have to just buy tickets when I can get to them, I have watched Leigh since I was a nipper and to have to miss home games is something I hoped I would never have to do, but this decision is going to affect not only my attendance but the amount of money that the club will receive from me now as there is no point in me committing £30 a month and only being able to make about 2 of the Friday games including the good Friday one. I know the club has to try something but to alienate the core of its existing fans like this beggars belief to me. I know I won't be the only one of the group I watch the games with that will now only make a couple of games this season.

My opinion of how Leigh is currently being run is different to yours but it would be a boring place if everyone agreed all the time.
Lets hope however that things work out well for the club and even though they appear to have isolated one large chunk of support that somehow things calm down and as many people as possible turn up to watch Leigh as is possible and we build on 2 years of gates going up.

Same as mate so an average of 2300 paying last years prices was a miracle in this nonsense league. Our aim should be to add 10% increase per year

Only time will tell ste but if the club sells its self as best it can and the team perform anthing like they did last season i don't see why our home support, can't at least, remain stable.I actually believe that leigh is one of the few clubs that can increase its home support in the current climate without bribing people with cheap tickets simply because, imo our support is lower than it should be.

Surely our average home support in 2005 was around the 3000+ mark?.
Who knows ste if the club had stuck with fridays in 2006 we may have had a lot more support than we actually got that year.If i remember the gates were rubbish that year and we had a top team.

| And that was when we were the best team in the land, or so I'm told!
I must admit that I probably won't be a buying a kids season ticket for my 4 year old as I'd originally planned and he will only come to the odd Sunday game, but hopefully the Friday games won't be too late for those older than say 6-7, particularly with no school in the morning.

Like has been said 81/2 and also late sixties and early 50's.
I have seen over 20 000 on at HP when we played wigan. Also 18000 v Wire 16500 v Swinton believe it or not and a similar gate when we played Leeds in the Challenge cup late 50's or early 60's we drew 7 apiece and won the replay 17-16. We then played Fev in the next round away.
We lost 23-7 over 11 000 there
When the £50 a week draw was introduced in the sixties we signed a South African RU player his name was Tom Moody. His first ever game was in the A team and over 4000 turned up.

and I was at Leigh for the 7 all draw and also at Leeds for the replay when we won 17-16 thanks to Stan Owen kicking the ball over the fullbacks head and regathering and going under the props ,and Piet Botha adding the goal in the dying minutes, also there to see tom Moodie make his A team debut ,but he didn't get a first team game did he

Peawapp' I don't think he played many first team games if I'm honest but Botha did as did Boonzaier.
I did not mean Ted Brophy who played in the second row. Think he was number 11.
