Basil Ake Lee Hansen Andy and Dave Ruane Paul Topping Russ Bridge etc all played that season so it wasn't quite an all leigh team but i get your drift

Getting back on topic Higson is no great lose.

He was never in same league as the DRs from Wire and Saints.

Good grafter good tackler but we could pick better up from the amateur game on less money IMO.

Andy Ruane one of the best defensive hookers ive seen at Leigh.

40/50 tackles every single game in an era were hookers played the full 80.

Dainty came in from East didnt he with Tommy Hayes who was a favourite of mine.

That East team that played Bradford at HP and nearly turned them over had some quallity around that time.

Gunner and Sean Penkys Dad just to name a few.

Andy Ruane was a master of kicking from acting half if there had been 40/20s then he would of been a world beater one very windy Wednesday night at HP v Oldham he kicked about 6. Gary Pendlebury played full back that game for the record.

Remember it very well stood on the ASDA end and never seen weather like it.

Joe Grima played for Oldham at Prop if memory serves me right almost certain Player/ Chairman TC came off the bench but may be wrong.

Higson is a good player and will be missed BUT.......he`s a squad/bench player and not a 1st chioce starter. Better players on the market who we should consider - Goddard/Greenwood/Hulme/Gaskell.......the list goes on.

As I've already said best player last game before going off and always gives 100 % . Swintons gained a gud un. Our loss.

Always thought he was overated by some of the Leigh fans who used to go over the top about his performances. Decent squad player, nothing more. Was given a very good long term contract when he burst onto the scene, but never seemed to progress after he signed that deal. Maybe he was payed too much too young and his focus went off his game.

Iremember young Jason ,attending a crisis fans meeting , on the pitch at Hilton Park , the lad was very close to tears , but promised to play for us ,and did well that season,another time under Murph , we went into payments difficulties AGAIN , and lost most of the team , we ended up playing with 6 scrum halves one match

, so i dont despair , we WILL rise and be successful again , as for the players leaving , their loss ,AJ WHO ARE YA?

He wasn't paid a fortune, I think it was a question of too many injuries too little game time and he lost the coaches respect big time.

I am sad about this departure. I really hope Adam gets a fair crack at Swinton and the luxury of knowing the coach rates him and has faith in him. Holding down a regular spot and not being used as a bit part player should help him tremendously as well. You have talent Adam, let's hope you can now be treated well, get regular first team rugby and grow in confidence from there. I am gutted to see you go as I am a Leigh fan, however I think this could be just what you need. The way Steve Mac has spoken about you already, indicates already how he rates you and he is a genuine bloke. Hope you take the chance and thrive next year. I have really enjoyed watching you at Leigh and hope that one day you return.

Five figures was a lot Fred, but not the way we threw money away before Basil.

As with most , ive only heard what the Players were on last season , Basil was supposed to be on a very good amount , along with RHP , and a couple of others , i hope we can return to sensible contracts next season , what we can afford to pay , and get players playing for us who want to wear our Shirt, maybe next season we wont set the League on fire , but i think next season will be about stabilising the Club and Team , getting things on the right tracks again , and then hopefully going forward with the intent on making a mark the season after.

As for the Future , yes we have a Future , if we pull together ,things will start to look up,and rise , believe me .

Next season needs to be the start of a 5 year plan , culminating with us applying to join SL in 2018 , replacing Salford when they move into Agecroft to groundshare with Swinton

Steve all plans need to start somewhere ,next season , wont be easy , maybe the season after to , but i feel with our Fan base in this League , we WILL go forward , and Prosper , we have done it before ,Leigh is a Rugby Town ,to many people care to let it go , as you say in 5 years time we will be ready , but we need to start being positive , pull together , stop the negatives , it will happen , but again we as Fans must not sit back , we should try to help MAKE IT HAPPEN , i know a few who will , hopefully more will join in .
