Wouldn't dream of asking a woman to brew up. Trevor did say, last night, if it had been a woman doing the presentation, she wouldn't have needed someone to project the slides while she was talking! However, even a woman would have struggled with doing the slides, talking and holding the flipping plug in at the same time!
I think you may well be the first woman to join a PSG group!'"
Well I was just waiting to be asked (but I wanted to join in before I died so I decided to invite myself instead).

| What you will need for streaming radio is a server with good bandwidth, I can look into this. It would be a useful services for leythers who live away from Leigh. Not sure how much you could charge, 20 quid for a season? I am sure the Canada based leythers would go for it. I have never written an android app, but I suppose I would have a better chance than most! 32k bits per second stream would be enough, so x 200 say = 6.4M bits per second. Which means you need at least 10M bits per second upload speed, which you can get with Virgin or BT Infinity. Will do some more calculations tomorrow when I have not been quaffing wine. Best bet is rent a server with a fast link, run a linux server to do the streaming that links to leighlife somehow if possible.
I listen to UK radio in the car (in Germany) via an android app, so this stuff does work....

| Sorry if that is a bit techy. I should have more time to help in a couple of weeks time (moving house). I know a bit about setting up linux servers and stuff, so would be better at that side of it than app programming, but I could give it a go, never done Java stuff though (which is what android apps are based on), although when you can program in assembler and low level C it can't be that difficult! It may be that leighlife can get a better deal for a webserver than they have now with more bandwidth. The bandwidth will only be needed once a week, so the total MB usage may not be so high so could still get a cheap webserver deal. Will email you tomorrow hopefully.

When you've sorted that out , what would be needed for this to be done by all 20 Championship clubs ? , could they collectively purchase the necessary hardware , and other ' computery ' stuff at reasonable cost , and how could they charge for it ?
When you get a minute

| You charge by having an android app or iPhone app that folk have to pay for on the android market or iTunes that allows access to the stream. Should be not much extra work to set it up for more than one non SDL club.

| You could even take it further and do video feeds, but that would be too much of an excuse for fans who live close enough to not go to the game....although you could always block IP addresses in the UK....

Hi Athy Box Yed
At LeighLife we use a VS running Linux, Bandwidth isn't an issue and neither is storage space. What caused the site to run slowly while the radio was transmitting was the number of simultaneous requests to the webserver which consumed the available process handlers and stuffed the memory, as I'm sure you're aware swapping or anything similar isn't available on a VS but only on dedicated servers which is something we're looking into, if that proves to be beyond our reach then a VS with a memory upgrade might be the answer. We're still looking into the possibilities.

| Hi Pete,
I sent you a mail asking a few questions that you have mostly answered above! I hope I can help out so that we can get this up and running, preferably before next season starts!
