Gutted we are loosing our best player but then again over the moon for him. Where would we have been prior to IM coming to the club without Chris's total dedication to the Leythers cause? Can't thank the lad enough. Hope one day that he returns to pull on the Leigh shirt in SL. All the best Chris.

SL written all over him and for me has all the skills to play international. Wire was right choice as Morley will look after him first year and Smith thinks like Basil.

Would have been nice if our club had announced it , rather then us finding out like this. Or better still waiting till the end of the season. As Ellis seemed to have a couple of off games once the news came out.
He does deserve it though and I wish him all the best, I hope one day we see him in a Leigh shirt in SL.

I said on the VT about 6 months ago when it was rumoured that he was going to SL in 2012 that he'd play for England and the VT morons laughed at me. I reckon he'll be in the World Cup squad.

well along with all fellow leythers i want to add my personal thanks to a true leigh legend, he has been simply awesome for us, and his loyalty has paid off, well done chris you really truly deserve your time in the big league, and will look forward to coming and watching you play for wire in sl, wish we could of kept you as it has been a honour to watch you develope into the fine rl player we see week in week out, i reckon we will all realise how much work and how crucial he is for us when he is not in our team next year, sad to see you go but if anybody deserved it then it was you.

Hope Leigh have put a clause in contract that WHEN Leigh get to SL he must revert back to the Leigh shirt

Still find it odd still that in RL players are signed up before their current contract has expired.

Good luck to Chris though, as you don't get much bigger club than Warrington - should be a great test for him. Hopefully in a England shirt not long after too.

Was his contractt up or did he have another year?

He signed a new deal early this year didn't he?

It is always a pleasure to watch Hilly, his total dedication to the cause has seen him become the best forward outside of SL and now he has the opportunity to prove himself in the big league. A good choice of club too. All the best for the future!

Looking to the future it may take a couple of years but we've got a young prop Luke Barratt coming through the systems and this could be Sam Hopkins chance to move up to front row permanently and take the spot next year. Barratt is only 17, has played most of the season on the bench for the Under-23s and when pitted against his own age group the other week for the 18s he monstered it against Hunslet.

in reply to dave parky above, lets use the loss of hilly as a huge chance for other players to grab his spot, he should be used as a shinning example of what hard work and dedication can bring.

really sorry to see him leave but as everyone to a man has said, he deserves his chance...I am surprised he did not get snapped up sooner to be honest.

Happened to bump into him last week actually when we were in Anglesey. I thought I recognized him and went up to him and said "you wouldnt happen to be Chris Hill would you?". He lloked astonished and admitted he was - he couldn't believe he had bumped into a Leigh fan there.

We were at the same attraction so we had a good chat about rugby league in Canada and life in general, must have been talking for almost an hour in total...great down to earth dad and nice family to boot..
